Hasmed's announcement does not brook any rebuttal: all Knights are recalled to the Castle, where they must remain until the Section Heads and Jack Chessing have spoken about the events in Los Angeles that have left the Knighthood without their usual leader.  

The entire Los Angeles area is now covered with a dark miasma that has interfered with any signals that might be sent out from phones, etc., leaving the whole world wondering what exactly is happening down there.  Final images showed horrendous monsters, a panic of citizens, looting and violence from humans and Shadowkind alike.  

Hasmed has warned of extra magical wards on the castle, and anyone arriving will immediately take notice of one very prominent one: above the entire roof of the excessively large building hovers a black and red sigil in the air, a pentagram in a circle surrounded by runes or words in an unknown language, stretching for miles.

I guess time flies when you're facing down the forces of evil. [Toby smiles grimly.] How'd they recruit you?

I helped stopped a magic bulldozer from killing people.

[She blinks.] That's... actually not the strangest recruitment story I've ever heard. But it's still definitely up there. Magic bulldozer, huh?

[allaboutme]

It was totally easy to shut down, but everyone was trying too hard with the fisticuffs approach.

[Toby smirks a little.] People do tend to be allergic to actually using their brains.

[Toby knows her own strength tend more towards sledgehammer than scalpel, but she likes to think she's at least good enough at thinking outside the box to not attack a magic bulldozer head on. Or at least aware enough of her limitations. In a fair fight, bulldozer beats Toby every time. That's why she hates fighting fair.]

Speaking of which, have you heard about this whole ungodly hour thing that Hellsing wants us to train at? Some of us need our beauty sleep.

Yeah, speaking as someone who is literally part of a nocturnal species, I'm not in favor.

[She knows humans think the world revolves around them, but she'd think somewhere like here would be a little more accommodating. Then again, maybe it was under Wynn.]

Fae, actually. Hence the pointed ears.

Faye? I didn't think her ears were pointy.

Fae, not Faye. Species not person. Like fairies, but less Disney.

Oh, like pixies, or whatever. I just dealt with some of those. They almost got me killed.

Sort of like that. Only I'm a lot bigger. [She tilts her head curiously.] Where did you run into pixies?

Caged in some sort of pocket dimension warehouse or whatever.

I can see why they were in a bad mood.

Yeah, well, they weren't the only ones.

A bunch of things from Hell tried to kill us.

Were they all in the warehouse too?

Yes. It was basically infinite.
