Hasmed's announcement does not brook any rebuttal: all Knights are recalled to the Castle, where they must remain until the Section Heads and Jack Chessing have spoken about the events in Los Angeles that have left the Knighthood without their usual leader.  

The entire Los Angeles area is now covered with a dark miasma that has interfered with any signals that might be sent out from phones, etc., leaving the whole world wondering what exactly is happening down there.  Final images showed horrendous monsters, a panic of citizens, looting and violence from humans and Shadowkind alike.  

Hasmed has warned of extra magical wards on the castle, and anyone arriving will immediately take notice of one very prominent one: above the entire roof of the excessively large building hovers a black and red sigil in the air, a pentagram in a circle surrounded by runes or words in an unknown language, stretching for miles.  

[ This is the social log for post-LA lockdown.  Failboat must complete the top log before being allowed to tag outside of it. ]

I'll grab one of these. [ she points, then heads for the weapons rack. they're not hers. they don't have the right weight. they're wood, not scrap. but she selects one and hefts it and settles on it anyway. ] Are you just here to train, or because something's upsetting you?

[impetere]

Little of both.

[She doesn't go for a weapon, not really comfortable with using one, but it's usually important for her to train against them, just so she's aware how people might strike at her.]

Today hasn't exactly been great, all things considered.

I think it'd be a bit more crowded in here if everyone took the strange runes over the castle to heart.

[ which, of course, is designed to prompt a more substantial reply. she twirls the staff. there's some flourish to it. then she heads back over. ]

[impetere]

[She snorts.]

You would think. But I don't think a lot of the people here realize how ... committed to the cause Hellsing can be.

[She doesn't want to say "dangerous" even if her instinct is to say that. She doesn't necessarily want to cause alarm where there doesn't need to be one. She just wants people to be careful.

Though Rey at least seems human, so she likely won't have to worry as much.]

You've dealt with them before?

[ that catches her interest at least; she doesn't know a whole lot about them. only that there's an uneasy feeling in the air around here lately, and they're to blame. ]

[impetere]

Yeah, when I came through the Veil.

[She rolls her shoulders a bit to stretch out before shrugging.]

They're not huge fans of non-humans.

[forcevisions]

You ... aren't human.

[ said as though to confirm. she's not sure she understands. most non-humans, where she comes from, are easy to spot. cora looks human. ]

[impetere]

[She shakes her head.]

I'm a werewolf.

[And she'll even show her her glowy gold eyes, as though to punctuate the point.]

And Hellsing, they don't work with werewolves? [ she glances about, frowning. ] Why would the section heads bring them here?

[impetere]

[She shrugs.]

They didn't seem like they were looking to recruit me when we met. But who knows, maybe it was just a bad night.

[It was a bad night, but they made it worse. That being said:]

We need the help. If this is going to be a war, we need numbers. I'm just ... not sure why we couldn't do this at their place.

Secrecy, I'll bet. The castle is protected; it could be that Hellsing's headquarters, wherever they are, don't have those same protections. And moving back and forth would draw an attack.

[impetere]

[She nods before giving a small shrug.]

It's not like the castle hasn't been attacked before though. But yeah, I guess our secret location would make more sense than their location.

[forcevisions]

... Are you worried they're going to do something?

[impetere]

Dovan says that we can trust them to toe the line and that that line is to work with us not against us.

[She gives a small shrug.]

In my experience, even hunters that work with a code behavior can give that up if they hate something enough.

[forcevisions]

While they're here, you probably shouldn't be alone, then. They could say anything happened if they got you by yourself.

[impetere]

[She nods a bit.]

I've mostly been sticking to public areas with people around. And if they tried to jump me in my room, I have a very large dog.

[And the claws to make them regret it.]

You said they didn't like non-humans. Does that include vampires?

[impetere]

[She pauses for a moment, because she's well aware that some of the knights are vampires.]

Yeah. Vampires are their favored target, actually.

[forcevisions]

... Let's leave the sparring match for later.

[ she lowers the staff and takes a step back. she has to check on caroline!!! ]

[impetere]

..... Okay?

[She is a bit confused but she figures Rey has someone to check on.]

I'll probably be around if you want to come back to it.
