Hasmed's announcement does not brook any rebuttal: all Knights are recalled to the Castle, where they must remain until the Section Heads and Jack Chessing have spoken about the events in Los Angeles that have left the Knighthood without their usual leader.

The entire Los Angeles area is now covered with a dark miasma that has interfered with any signals that might be sent out from phones, etc., leaving the whole world wondering what exactly is happening down there. Final images showed horrendous monsters, a panic of citizens, looting and violence from humans and Shadowkind alike.

Hasmed has warned of extra magical wards on the castle, and anyone arriving will immediately take notice of one very prominent one: above the entire roof of the excessively large building hovers a black and red sigil in the air, a pentagram in a circle surrounded by runes or words in an unknown language, stretching for miles.

[He waves her off the apology and waves over the waitress to order them two coffees.]

It's fine. Don't worry about it. [He reaches into his pocket and dials Thea's number, hoping that she answers and doesn't think he's a weird not-her-real-brother stalker.]

[ gosh oliver, give her some space, she's still trying to make leaving happen. out of habit alone and because she sees the name OLIVER pop up on her phone she answers it automatically with: ]

Hey Ollie.

[ and then. ] Hi Oliver.

[He feels a pang of guilt, the casual way she answers the phone. It's clear that she still hasn't really let it sink in that the Oliver that calls her now isn't the one she's known all her life. Nope. Just the weird one that calls her at random times.]

Hey. [It sounds odd, like he didn't know what to say. He still doesn't know what to say, but he starts it out the same as he did the last one.] I swear I'm not going to make a habit out of this, but do you know a Dinah Lance?

[ laurel never went by dinah for as long as thea can remember, even in school and at work, and while mrs lance usually went by mrs lance (and then professor lance when she dropped the missus) thea remembers her parents calling her dinah so that is the woman thea associates with dinah lance.

whoops. ]

Yeah, she's Laurel and Sara's mom. [ thea huffs a sigh that sounds more confused than upset. ] She's a professor at Central City U.

[He frowns, because ... he doesn't know those names. He's not sure Dinah would know them either, but still -- he continues.]

There's a woman here, she came looking for me - because of my name. She's come through and she says her name is Dinah Lance. [He takes a moment.] She doesn't seem to be old enough to be [He pauses again, glancing to Dinah across from him and mouths 'Sorry' to her.] a mother of two. She says that your name is familiar to her. I offered to call you for her.

Maybe the veil has invested in time travel, too.

[ she doesn't know! she doesn't have all the information here. ]

[Who knows! Definitely not Oliver.]

Can I -- can I hand the phone to her and you can .. I don't know, see if you spark anything for her?

[ no, thea wants to go back to bed, she doesn't want to talk to some other stranger with a familiar name, she wants a nap and a chocolate croissant in paris. ]

I guess.

[He will buy you a dozen croissants, okay. He will buy you a bakery.]

Okay. [A beat.] Thank you, Thea.

[He hands the phone to Dinah.]

[And she will take the phone and place it to her ear, not really sure what to expect on the other end, but she is also fairly certain she isn't a mother of two. So she'll just see how Thea responds and go from there.]

Thea?

[ is that...? no, the woman literally only said her name, her grief is obviously manifesting in wildly ridiculous and hopeful ways. ]

Hi.

Hi.

[She honestly doesn't know where to start, glancing back to Oliver as she tries to find the words that would make some kind of recognition happen on the other end of the phone. She needs to actually say something, but she has no idea what that something would be beyond:]

Oliver told me about your brother. I'm so sorry, and I'm especially sorry to be dumping this on you now, but ... you're the first person I've actually remembered, and I thought ... maybe you might be able to help me. When you're ready to.

[There is obviously no rush, she has plenty of time to grieve. But she wanted to make the connection.]

[ how many times has thea been hugged by laurel with the older woman murmuring apologies (for someone else, always) or condolences? how many times has she heard her say oliver and 'your brother' in her life.

hope flairs bright and traitorous. ]

Laurel?

[There's always been something about Dinah that hadn't felt right. It's not that it didn't feel like her name - it is her name - but introducing herself as Dinah Lance had always been a bit awkward to say. It doesn't flow easily enough to be her identity.

But when Thea calls her "Laurel" something clicks, and it suddenly feels like she's actually being addressed properly.]

Yeah. It's me. I don't really remember a lot beyond you, but Laurel feels right.

How did you..?

[ how did she find thea, but obviously oliver had already answered that earlier -- she'd found oliver.

anything else thea was going to say/ask/contribute gets lost in a choked sob because she'd managed to survive ollie and felicity dying, but with laurel she can't even begin to be strong, she just crumbles like a sandcastle. ]

[She may have figured it out, but Laurel's going to explain anyway.]

I didn't remember anything when I came through the Veil. There were some clerics that helped me, but other than that I basically had my name, and that was it. Then I was looking at some magazines in a store and I saw the name "Oliver Queen" and it triggered something. Nothing really solid, but I knew that name was important so I did some googling and I found the wrong Oliver Queen's office in Metropolis, but he was nice enough to help me out.

[And she definitely owes him one, not that she knows how she's going to pay it back.]

But he said your name and I knew you. More than I knew with that name.

You're a lawyer, [ thea manages, laurel's explanation giving her some time to calm down. ] You're a lawyer and a secret superhero. You're called the Black Canary and you're amazing.

The Black Canary. That's ... interesting.

[She nods slowly. Superhero. Okay. That explains ... some stuff she's not going to get into right now. She just nods and glances back to Oliver, realizing he's probably waiting on his phone.]

Oliver said you're in Europe?

[Oliver lifts his eyebrows when she says "Black Canary" because that's interesting. He also nods, at the Europe thing and makes an offer.]

I do have a plane. [He doesn't say much else, though, not wanting to be rude and interrupt the conversation anymore.]

And Oliver says he has a plane.

[So that means they can get there faster. Good to know.]

I have to-- I have to do something first, but yeah. I can definitely meet you somewhere.

[ maybe not paris like she'd first told oliver, probably somewhere else. she needs to speak to koraith first. but now that laurel is in the picture, she knows she is going whether they let her or not, it just depends if she is going to tell barry before or after. ]

I missed you so much.

I missed you too.

[which isn't a total lie, because while there was a time when she didn't realize that Thea was missing, she knew that something was, and Thea is definitely part of it.]

I'll see you soon, okay?

[ thea nods, words choked with tears and trapped in her throat. it takes her a minute to swallow it all down. ]

I love you, Laurel.

I love you too.

[And with that she will take a breath, before passing the phone back to Oliver in case there's something he wants to say.]

Hey. [He starts out with, glancing to her to make sure she's okay, but he finishes up with Thea first.]

I didn't mean to spring meeting me in with this, so if you want me to just send her to you -- I can do that, Thea. Just let me know.
