Hasmed's announcement does not brook any rebuttal: all Knights are recalled to the Castle, where they must remain until the Section Heads and Jack Chessing have spoken about the events in Los Angeles that have left the Knighthood without their usual leader.  

The entire Los Angeles area is now covered with a dark miasma that has interfered with any signals that might be sent out from phones, etc., leaving the whole world wondering what exactly is happening down there.  Final images showed horrendous monsters, a panic of citizens, looting and violence from humans and Shadowkind alike.  

Hasmed has warned of extra magical wards on the castle, and anyone arriving will immediately take notice of one very prominent one: above the entire roof of the excessively large building hovers a black and red sigil in the air, a pentagram in a circle surrounded by runes or words in an unknown language, stretching for miles.  

[ This is the social log for post-LA lockdown.  Failboat must complete the top log before being allowed to tag outside of it. ]

[ After her conversations with Jyn, Ahsoka, and Jaina, Rey is scattered. Frequently distracted and secretive, she seems lost in thought, even morose, a surprising departure from her usual pragmatic, action-oriented mindset.

It's not an uncommon mood, in the current climate of the castle, but it's particularly unusual for her.

She tries to slip off quietly after the morning training session, at first it looks like she might just be heading to her room, but she heads down the stairs into the dungeons. She's moving quickly, and it looks like she might be trying to keep from being seen.

She comes to a stop in front of Vane's cell. ]

[To his credit, he wasn't trying to follow her. With everything going on around the castle, though, he's been kind of sticking to her side sometimes, if only because she knows at least in part what suddenly having a military organization all up in your business might do to him.

He's not super into it, in other words.

He's not blind, though. She's not quite herself these days, but who among them really is, right?

He sees her heading out of one of the training session, and he follows after her without a second thought. He doesn't even think anything is weird until she starts heading down to the dungeons.

Still, he doesn't think anything too off about it. Surely she wouldn't be trying to keep something a secret. He's just curious as to what she's up to down here.]

[ vane sits still in the center of her cell, folded into a seated position, eyes closed.

she speaks up as rey approaches, without opening them ] There is great turmoil in this place.

[ she touches her hands to the bars, drawing in close. ]

It feels wrong.

[ she can't articulate it beyond that. but it feels worth noting — conceding, even — that yes, she can feel it too. not just inside of her, but in the air of this place. everyone is out of sorts. ]

I need your help.

It seems you are in a position to demand, rather than request it.

I am. [ said as much to remind herself as to agree with vane's assessment. ] I want to know about the Sith. I want to know what happened to you.

[ this is true, of course. but rey doesn't want to participate in that conversation. she sets her jaw and, ]

Are you going to tell me or not?

You'll need to be more specific. There is much to know about the Sith.

Let's start with why you joined them.

I was not given a choice. I was raised by a Sith, who took me from my family and trained me to the life.

But some people do have a choice. Darth Vader, he did. What happens to someone to make them like that?

[militarized]

[Finn realizes belatedly that maybe this was not something Rey wanted him around for when he has the self-awareness to understand that he stopped walking a decent distance from the conversation taking place, and has neither continued closer or backed up just yet.

He should probably...say something, right? Or walk away and pretend this didn't happen?

Instead, he's struck with complete indecision, seemingly rooted in place as they talk a distance away.]

[ her sense motive was exactly 8 so she's not doing great at telling if vane is legit or not here. ]

I was raised in isolation, far from most of the other Sith. I'm certain there are tales of many of them that I am not familiar with.

[ well she doesn't know him, so that doesn't help much. ]

Does Lord Daedalus still live?

I can't sense him in this world, so I have no way of knowing.

He's gone. I need to find out where he kept it.
