Hasmed's announcement does not brook any rebuttal: all Knights are recalled to the Castle, where they must remain until the Section Heads and Jack Chessing have spoken about the events in Los Angeles that have left the Knighthood without their usual leader.  

The entire Los Angeles area is now covered with a dark miasma that has interfered with any signals that might be sent out from phones, etc., leaving the whole world wondering what exactly is happening down there.  Final images showed horrendous monsters, a panic of citizens, looting and violence from humans and Shadowkind alike.  

Hasmed has warned of extra magical wards on the castle, and anyone arriving will immediately take notice of one very prominent one: above the entire roof of the excessively large building hovers a black and red sigil in the air, a pentagram in a circle surrounded by runes or words in an unknown language, stretching for miles.

[he looks at her with an expression like ugh don't make me go into detail with this.] I've always been. Just not a very good one. [and then she's healed. everything is a-ok. amaze.]

[ she flexes her hand in surprise ] Looks pretty good from here.

Cool. Remember the time I gave you an orgasm just by touching you? It's a little more useful than that. Sometimes.

No, I somehow forgot about that insane moment in my life. [ she smirks at him, lifting a sardonic eyebrow ]

[he rolls his eyes.] Just checking, just checking. Geez. It's just not something I advertise. I hit my limit too easy to be much of a cleric.

I'm glad you're willing to test those limits for me.

Y'know, to be fair, I did find her in the woods. She's always been pretty okay with me, but who knows what ... I don't know, feral cat trauma bullshit she has in her history.

Maybe she needs a shrink.

Cat therapist, huh. Think that's actually a thing?

I am 110% sure.

[ambitionist]

Yeah, well, when my life is falling apart a little less, I'll see what I can do about getting my cat psychological help.

Nah, you tried. It was a good few minutes. [he sighs.] I'm just ... I already uprooted my entire life once, you know? I'm not exactly thrilled with the idea of getting to do it all over again. If I decide to split, which I haven't even decided yet. But coming here, I guess I might as well have.

You really think they won't let you back? After all you've done for them?

[ambitionist]

They were pretty clear about people leaving the castle not being welcome back for the time being. Even people who don't live in the castle because they have families and shit. Like, show total loyalty to us or get fucked. It's bullshit. But what do I know?

[panaceum]

Then fuck 'em.

I know they're all you've had for awhile but... you don't need them.

[ambitionist]

Yeah, I know. You're right. It was just nice to be part of something while it last ... [he trails off in mid-sentence, wincing and making a pained expression.] er, lasted. [and then he tries to recover like that didn't just happen.] But, it's ... it's whatever.

You don't have to pretend it doesn't matter either.

What, you want a front-row seat to the pity party? Look, at least this time I'm leaving on my own terms. I just have to figure out what I'm doing now.
