Held in the grasp of the Knighthood's enemies for a stretch of time that has been an aching splinter in the heart of the ones who love him, Rafael Giovanni's life now stands up for auction. Having made a number of powerful enemies in his days as the vigilante assassin The Black Scourge, including the secret Vatican police known as Iscariot, Draken Crombe's organization sought to capitalize on the many who sought revenge by sending out word that Eterna Jade was not, as his trial had seemed to prove, the Black Scourge at all, and offer the chance to kill or torture Giovanni to whoever would pay the largest sum.

The Knights, being made aware of this, did what they could to stymie this auction from coming to pass, and Buffy Summer and Jack Chessing managed to at least thwart it several times, leading to its cancellation and inevitable rescheduling elsewhere. However, none of this led to Giovanni's actual location.

The capture of Draken Crombe finally allowed them to learn of the latest plans for the auction - to be held at a location in New Orleans, a temple of some sort. It seems that Crombe's other followers still intend to follow through with ridding themselves of Rafael, making it clear that even with Crombe in Knights' custody, the villains still have some organization or leadership. Tia Ellison rattled out the plan by invading Crombe's mind, learning of the way that he had been psychically manipulated by the Mind Master for years, and doing what she could to start to heal his shattered psyche.

Jack Chessing, eager to see Rafael rescued after their many efforts, cautioned however against sending too many on what might be a mission from which there is no returning. To that end, they've tried to split the forces of their magic-users, fighters, and researchers.

Now, it's up to a few to save their friend... without losing any more.

[Sweatpants. Because his other clothes are also covered in blood. Most of it is his. Yikes.

Besides, Dean, you'd be swimming in them. Not a good look.]

Look, Rose is grabbing Alainn, right? Maybe she can just...magic up something.

Yeah, that'll work. Just stick it outside the door. [ he starts towards the bathroom door, grabbing a towel on the way and pauses at the door, turning back, with a look on his face that looks ... like it's starting to actually hit him ]

You don't think we're doing something stupid here... do you?

[There it is. He's been waiting for that.

He looks at his brother, any concerns over their clothes and all that extra crap crammed into a box somewhere. It doesn't matter. Not really.]

Can you imagine your life without her in it? Would you even want to?

[ he lets that hang there for a moment, before it draws a slow head shake out of him ]

No. I've never met anyone like her. Never will again.

But bringing her into this family...? You know what that means, same as I do. [ he flips the towel idly in his hands, looking down at it ] ... Guess it's a bit late for that though, huh.

[ he chuckles a bit, although it's more nervous than out of real humor, disbelief in his voice as he says, a little breathlessly: ] Me as somebody's husband. I've got no clue what the hell I'm doin', Sam. But I guess I'm not so afraid of trying, not with her. Not anymore.

I just can't screw this up. If I do one damn thing right in what's left of my life, it better be that.

[Sam actually looks like he's about to tear up over here because that might beb the most honest and emotional thing Dean's ever said to him about anything and it's amazing to watch.

It's a far cry from the Dean he ran into at the castle that threatened to kill him.]

Then you're not doing anything stupid.

[Seems like a pretty easy conclusion to come to, honestly.]

She's good for you, Dean. You're good for each other. It doesn't matter if you don't know what you're doing because I don't think anyone really does but you guys have been through hell and back and have only gotten stronger. [His smile is quiet, content.] You saved each other and you saved me.

Besides, you guys are practically hitched already.

he listens to that all carefully, a slight smile starting to haunt his lips at the words, his eyes dropping to the carpet for a moment as he lets it sink in.

then he balls the towel up slightly, and throws it at his face (atk 32) before scooping up a second one from the stand next to him. he flashes a smirk at his brother as the towel drops, revealing a spark in his eyes that calls back to a million small moments in their lives Before ]

Hey.

No chick flick moments on my wedding day.

[ and with that, he's going in the bathroom ]

[With a nat 20 reflex check, the towel hits his face but the snatches it out of the air before it hits the ground. His smile is similar, as if in that moment nothing at all has changed or happened between them, like everything is right with the world and in its proper place.

He launches the towel back at him (atk 35) before the door can shut, satisfied when it hits the back of his head.]

Jerk.

[ as he's pulling the door closed: ]

Bitch.

[ Then sometime after Dean heads into the shower the door flies open.

I really hope you're dressed, Sam. ]

[Probably not too terribly long, so Sam's just sitting on the edge of the bed, the remnants of a dopey smile on his face. He turns to look toward the door, expecting Rose to come through it with Alainn in tow.

Except there's no Alainn yet.]

Did you talk to her? I was hoping she could help us with the whole clothing situation.

Yes and - [Making a face because... you too?!] Yes. I guess flannel and bullet holes aren't appropriate for weddings. I have no idea what she's planning but I'm guessing it involves fixing that.

She's getting an uber?

[Go figure that Alainn and Sam were the ones making sure they're appropriate dressed.]

And here I figured she'd just magic something up. [She did his disguise, after all.] Should we come with or do you wanna just grab us something?

[Can you imagine trying to pick pants for Sam off the rack, though? GL.]

She already magicked me clean. [ A beat. ] I guess it didn't help.

Uh... [ She looks torn because shopping for Sam how VS... Imagine Dean shopping though? ]

What do you want to do?

[He's having the exact same thought.

In the end, he just waves her off.]

I'll text you our sizes. Doesn't need to be anything special. Dean's still in the shower anyway.

Alainn's running this show, I'm just along for the ride.

[ Was legit gonna get married pre-clean up spell, honestly. ]

Tell Dean not to worry, no suits I promise.

[She turns to leave... then quickly turns back again.]

Maybe take him for a beer or something? [ Shotgun Bachelor party??] Just not too many beers? I'd like him to remember tomorrow that he agreed to this.

[ She grins, like she's joking but then given the subject? She's not wrong. ]

[Sam glances back at the bathroom door before giving Rose a smirk.]

I'll see what I can do.

[ She breathes a sigh of relief and goes to leave again... only for her to turn back and look at Sam, this time just the slightest hint of apprehension in her eyes. ]

He is, good right? I just, I didn't really ask him so much as I said 'Marry Me'. [ Because of course, she did. ]

I don't need to marry him to know that he's it. I just... [ And it's this moment when that apprehension falls away and it's just Rose, being more open and honest with Sam then she's ever been before. ]

I want to.

Trust me, Rose.

[Sam has a little twinkle in his eye as he says it, the corner of his mouth lifted in perhaps the most genuine smile he's given anyone since he fell through the Veil.]

I talked to him. He's good.

[ Two words. That's all it takes to see any lingering tension ease, a soft smile playing across her lips in a way that's so different from the rare ones that do show.

Maybe that's why she does it, the fact that he could offer her the peace of mind in knowing Dean wasn't freaking out ~~completely~~, or maybe it's just the smile he gives her in return, but she's moving before she fully registers she's doing so. Her arms going around him in a hug.

It's over almost as soon as it's begun, but it's also the first time that she's ever done this with Sam, one of the rare times she's initiated a hug with anyone in fact and she looks more than a little compromised when she does pull back. Motioning over her shoulder in the direction of Alainn rather than actually try to speak. Because in that moment? She's not entirely sure she can do so without her voice breaking. ]

[Sam and Rose had a start that was almost as bumpy as his was with Dean on this side of the Veil. There had been an awful lot of threats, glaring, and distrust, but she'd also at least given him the time of day when Dean wouldn't. She'd been the one to make sure he had a chance.

She was probably the only reason they were here now, together, at all.

When Dean had said that he couldn't imagine a life without her in it, didn't want to, Sam realized that he didn't want to either. It wouldn't feel right.

He hugs her back, realizing easily that this is...a big fucking deal (sense motive 36 i'm dying ma). He releases her as she pulls away, and with a killer will save, he keeps his emotions in check, gesturing for the door.]

I'll take care of things here. We'll see you soon.

[ Family - Mother Mother

It's probably barely more than a second or two, but so much can be said without words at all and it's there, in the way her mouth tightens, her eyes crinkle and shine as emotion physically ripples across her features.

It's not just that she's marrying Dean. It's not just that he's becoming her family. It's that they both are. Sam being around, it isn't a burden she has to bear because she loves Dean. Sam is a part of why she loves him and while she wishes she could just say that? The lump in her throat makes speech near impossible, Rose only just managing to push out a choked acknowledgment before she leaves.]

Thank you.

[ And it's clear, she means for so much more than just this.]

I'm pretty sure I'm the one that should be thanking you...

[For more reasons than he can possibly explain out loud, but she knows them all and he knows he doesn't have to say them. They've come a long way, and while they may just be starting to really get to know each other in an honest and open way, Sam also knows that she gets him in the ways that really matter.

They're on the same team. They want the same things. They'll fight anyone who tries to mess with that.]
