Rescuing Rafael could have gone much worse... And then did, when Rafael, desperate to feel alive and free again, got himself into a car accident. He came out of it alright, but injured, and they headed back on a plane after a whirlwind wedding had happened the same night between Dean and Rose, which Elena and the fiendish version of Sam had dropped in on - as well as Bobby Singer. After the madness of that night, Jack sent word back to them that if they had any family that they wished to keep safe, they could bring them back to Krozna. Rafael and Isabella insisted on picking up Giorgio, Nellethiel, and their children, Giulia and Pietro. Alainn picked up quite a bit of family as well - her adoptive parents and siblings from Ireland.   They return to Krozna together, where everyone can get acquainted and recover from the ordeal of their close calls in New Orleans before pressing forward.   There would be months for them to train, and the pace of life in Krozna to settle in, far from the chaos of the rest of the world.  

The date is now quickly approaching for the upcoming meeting at the "Darkhouse" where they hope to acquire more leads about the dagger that was used by Blade in the ritual to kill his father, Malaak'a.  

This log covers all social things for Failboat between the first social log and the Darkhouse (months worth of time skip).

I'm starting to think you're all drawing lots for who gets to try to say the most outrageous thing casually next.

That's honestly the tamest part of my interactions with my family.

I suppose it would be asking quite too much to expect a tutorial. Do you feel safe attempting to try it out yourself?

I can't exactly call him collect, you know? But I don't think he'd give me a weapon that could kill me on a test run.

[ her shoulders lift in an expansive shrug. ] Especially since I've been given explicit instructions to use it on Blade.

I mean, apparently it can maybe kill him, so I hope you're not asking for living test targets.

[graveflowers]

No, no. Just a place to work on my aim. [ and see if she...dies in the process. you know, it'd be good to know if it's a one and done thing. ]

I think it'd be a good idea to find somewhere quite isolated from the village and the compound. Perhaps above, in the mountains. Although an avalanche wouldn't be a pleasant evening surprise.

We could bring along Dominik if the threat of avalanche is not just a funny joke you're playing on me.

Not a bad idea, actually. He could melt the threat quickly enough.

He already knows who my family is so I won't even have to explain it again.

[ admittedly he could have said "go out into the forest and figure it out for yourself" and vi would have had the same reaction, but she is very glad that she will have company on this.

[ jack moves to go find dominik and mikhail heads towards a door, nodding his head for her to follow ] Well. Let us see what we can find, hm?

[ she follows along easily, happy to be able to figure one thing out. ]

Thanks for this. I wasn't looking forward to testing it out for the first time, you know, on Blade. It'd be a hell of a time to realize I don't know how it works.

I'm afraid to ask much more, but can't exactly help myself. [ he leads her out and down the steps that lead towards the mountain path ] We are talking about the Greek god, right?

Yup. My dad is human, but my mom is, um. The Roman version of Persephone. So Zeus is my grandfather. LA is his territory and he's a little pissed Blade weaseled his way in there. He can't do anything, so that is why I have his master bolt. [ she gestures at the staff. ]

He didn't want to use it himself?

He can't. It's a complicated god versus god thing. Luckily, that is why kids like me were born, fighting when our parents can't.

Sounds like a system with an unnecessary middle man.

[graveflowers]

It sure as shit is. But after a few millennia I think the gods, all of them, have figured out that mortals, irrepressible and stubborn and sometimes dumb as rocks, have something they don't have.

And what do you think that is?

Hope.

[ it's a hokey thing to say out loud, and while she wouldn't say it in front of some people, mikhail hasn't given her the impression that he is the type to try to smother the idea of hope. that is what his whole place represents, isn't it? hope to change for the better, the way dom had, hope to find peace within themselves, hope that they could return one day. ]

[ he considers her for a moment before nodding in agreement ] I agree with you on that. And perhaps that's what this gift of yours really is.

If it is... it's not not working. And as the story goes, Zeus did give Pandora the box, including Hope. [ quietly, more to herself than anything: ] Kinda poetic, Gramps.
