Rescuing Rafael could have gone much worse... And then did, when Rafael, desperate to feel alive and free again, got himself into a car accident. He came out of it alright, but injured, and they headed back on a plane after a whirlwind wedding had happened the same night between Dean and Rose, which Elena and the fiendish version of Sam had dropped in on - as well as Bobby Singer. After the madness of that night, Jack sent word back to them that if they had any family that they wished to keep safe, they could bring them back to Krozna. Rafael and Isabella insisted on picking up Giorgio, Nellethiel, and their children, Giulia and Pietro. Alainn picked up quite a bit of family as well - her adoptive parents and siblings from Ireland. They return to Krozna together, where everyone can get acquainted and recover from the ordeal of their close calls in New Orleans before pressing forward. There would be months for them to train, and the pace of life in Krozna to settle in, far from the chaos of the rest of the world.

The date is now quickly approaching for the upcoming meeting at the "Darkhouse" where they hope to acquire more leads about the dagger that was used by Blade in the ritual to kill his father, Malaak'a.

[His voice is tight, and he's not sure if he just said it in his head or out loud too.

Tia's voice seems to do the trick, as I rolled a new will save and got a 28. It's just a memory, something he can't change, and so trying to reject it, giving into his fear, is only going to make things more difficult for him.

He already opened himself up to it, let it in. And he needs to control it, for his own sake, which means not flinching away.]

That's right, Sam. You're in control here. Not anyone else. That power is you.

[ her voice turns soothing, and also more than a little relieved ] Show me what else you've done.

[Once he has that firm hold again, her relief mingling with his, things start to move a little faster.

His brain skips around, memories flashing like a highlight reel. Each time he meets with Glasya, she teaches him something new as she hovers nearby, murmuring into his ear. He learns to further control is telekinesis, to heal himself, to crush minds, to fire beams of elemental energy from his hands.

Finally, there's the battle to save Rafael, the searing pain in his head as blood drips from his nose as he pushes himself too hard. It's happened a time or two before, but not quite like that, perhaps because he did it alone. Dean and Rose appear, their worried expressions conjured up briefly before he shakes it away.]

[ he would feel her withdraw, slowly, as if to not leave him reeling, a small gesture of comfort, and then feel her hands physically pull away ]

You've certainly stayed busy. [ there's a gentle humor to the words, clearly not intended to assign any blame or judgment, just try to break the tension while she processes all of that ]

It was a distraction.

[There might not be any judgment on her part, but he judges himself plenty. There's more than enough guilt rolling around in his brain just from looking back on all of it.

Also, he's not sure if it was the psionics or just her that he felt so drawn to.

Given what he's given up, he's going with the former..]

[ quietly, but firmly ] I think it was more than that. This is a part of you, this power.

Why wouldn't you want to feel in control of it, instead of afraid of it?

[His eyes lift, the expression behind them one of pure relief.

Slowly he nods.]

Yeah. [A beat as he swallows.] But should I be? Afraid of it?

You should respect its power. For people who don't understand the difference, fear and respect can look the same. They're not.

[Sam understands the difference.]

No, they aren't. [He sighs, dragging a hand through his hair to push back the pieces that have fallen into his eyes.] I know that my brother would rather I just try to lock it away because of where it came from. But I can't live like that, just waiting for it to come out when I don't want it to, have it do something I can't stop.

[His gaze grows more solid, determined.]

I need to make it mine, make it something more than just what was done to me, and that means figuring out what I'm capable of.

Also, no offense, but your brother isn't the one living with this ability inside of him.

Dean's got his own demons to fight.

[He had his own time in Hell, after all. Sam knows at least that much.]

He just needs to leave mine to me. And he's coming around, at least.

[He nods.]

After everything that's happened? I can't not talk to him about it. Secrets are what got us in trouble in the first place.

[He drags a hand through his hair.]

I told him I can't live like that. I think he's just worried that somehow it's gonna get used against us.

I don't think it's that simple. You're not a puppet, Sam. Otherwise, she wouldn't have had to come try to talk you into anything.

[He nods, clearly in agreement.]

It's just who I am. We both know I was already going to have the Sight. Maybe this was gonna be there too, just weaker. [A beat.] Either way, it's not a curse if I'm choosing what I do with it.

That's exactly right. There are people out there who think of what I can do as a curse. A dangerous thing. And it can be - sometimes it is, even in my hands. But only when I choose to use it that way, and only when and where I would use any weapon.

No different than a gun. [He looks over at her.] Just needs a safety.

I just wanna do this the right way this time.

Then you're the one who has to remember to keep a foot near the brake. But I'm willing to help you with that, if you're really open to it.

[He grins slightly, almost bordering on embarrassed or shy.]

I'm glad you feel willing to trust me with helping you, after... [ she trails off ] I just can't imagine it's easy to let anyone in up there.
