Rescuing Rafael could have gone much worse... And then did, when Rafael, desperate to feel alive and free again, got himself into a car accident. He came out of it alright, but injured, and they headed back on a plane after a whirlwind wedding had happened the same night between Dean and Rose, which Elena and the fiendish version of Sam had dropped in on - as well as Bobby Singer. After the madness of that night, Jack sent word back to them that if they had any family that they wished to keep safe, they could bring them back to Krozna. Rafael and Isabella insisted on picking up Giorgio, Nellethiel, and their children, Giulia and Pietro. Alainn picked up quite a bit of family as well - her adoptive parents and siblings from Ireland. They return to Krozna together, where everyone can get acquainted and recover from the ordeal of their close calls in New Orleans before pressing forward. There would be months for them to train, and the pace of life in Krozna to settle in, far from the chaos of the rest of the world.

The date is now quickly approaching for the upcoming meeting at the "Darkhouse" where they hope to acquire more leads about the dagger that was used by Blade in the ritual to kill his father, Malaak'a.

[ She turns slightly, glancing back at Jack but not completely looking at him. Simply allowing the apology to hang in the air before lifting her shoulders in a shrug and meeting his gaze. ]

Yeah, well. I should have known better.

You deserve happiness as much as anyone does.

People rarely get what they deserve.

It doesn't mean one should give up hope for it.

[ She lets out a breathless chuckle, uncertain if Jack heard the underlying meaning of her words. ]

I guess I'll believe it when I see it.

Either way, I do believe you're right to want to share this information, if it seems that they're not through with us.

[ She'd point out that she does not want to share - that she only wanted to tell him and wipe her hands of the whole mess but she figured she'd made her displeasure at the rest of it perfectly clear by now. ]

They're after something and until they get whatever it is, they won't stop trying. [ Her gaze darkens at her next words, the reality of them finally starting to sink in for Rose. ] But it'll never be over.

I can't imagine exactly how that feels. I only hope that you know that there are people here who truly would do all they could to protect you and your family, even if some of this seems... beyond our reach.

How do I believe that?

[ It's not said harshly, no trace of bitterness there. It's almost as if she truly does want the answer. ]

The closest thing to a mother that I've ever known? Betrayed me to them. Even after I told her it could get me killed.

How do I trust people to help protect my family, when my own family has betrayed me for them?

Because for some of us, all we have left are one another. There's an element of family in that as well.

[ Her eyes flutter closed at those words, Rose swallowing past the lump that wells in her throat. Her lips pressing together to stop them from trembling as she steels herself by breathing in through her nose. ]

I hate them.

[ Her words are soft, each one spoken with a quiet purpose that speaks to something she won't even allow Dean to see. How much she hates what this has done to her life, to the friendships that might have been. Might have been, because no matter how much she wants to believe Jack? There would never be a moment in her life when she doesn't second guess the people around her. That's what they stole from her. It's what Hell stole from Dean, and if Jack and the others weren't careful? It's what they'd steal from them too. ]

[ his eyes fall at that slightly, as if to give her a measure of privacy as the vulnerability creeps across her face. he considers his words carefully, and he doesn't sound particularly happy about them when he finally says slowly: ] I can't tell you that you shouldn't.

I can't even tell you that you should learn to let it go, as Mikhail might.

Perhaps there's a time for it, and perhaps that time is now, if ever.

[ Those words hang in the air, the answer to them coming easily. It's become the very thing that has driven her these past few years. It might not be healthy and it may only make her life harder in the long run but after all she's seen, after running through every scenario of where it all went wrong a thousand times in her head? It's the one and only answer that feels right to her. ]

If I let it go? [ Her voice oddly calm given the subject matter. ] Then who will hold them accountable?

[ Because somebody had to, she had to believe that. You couldn't ruin lives without a second thought and there not be some form of justice for it. ]

The wedding made me realize that I'll never escape Hell. But I can make damn sure others do.

We don't always get to choose the burdens placed on. But we can choose what we make of them. It seems that this is your burden, but that you have found a way to make it mean something, by protecting others from it.

I only hope you can find any peace in that.
