Unlike the grandiose nature of the squiring ceremony each Knight undergoes upon their initial entrance into the Knighthood, the graduation to Full Knight status takes place in a much more intimate affair, between the Knight, their mentor, invited friends, and the members of the sect to which they will be inducted. There's no pompous music, no stolid rank and file, no elaborate march.

Riddick's invitees are given seats of honor at the front of the ranks of the Dragon's Hide members - the largest sect in the castle, with the most representatives here, and Fred, Wynn, and Dovan wait up at the front of the room for Riddick to approach them, but the attitude of the ceremony is much more relaxed, full of smiles and light conversation on all sides.   Deal with it, Riddick-chan.

Wynn finally gets things rolling, by saying in his loud listen-to-me voice:  "Approach and kneel, Sir Richard Riddick."

[Riddick casts a swift glance around to those in attendance, his gaze landing on Katniss for a heart-beat longer than the rest. He makes his way to the front, not wasting any time, and he swiftly kneels, his eyes cast downwards with a look of deep contemplation upon his features.]

[wynn]

Sir Riddick. You have demonstrated a commitment to the ideals of this organization that has been deemed sufficient to induct you into our order as a full Knight of the Silver Dragon. We ask at this time that you answer this question honestly:

Do you wish to accept this position?

[notafraidofthedark]

[He looks up as Wynn begins to speak, as line-facey as he had ever been. His response is quick and to the point.]

Yes.

[wynn]

Do you swear to respect all weaknesses, and constitute yourself the Defender of them?

[lightblindbadass]

Yes.

[wynn]

Do you swear to never recoil before thy enemy?

[lightblindbadass]

Yes.

[wynn]

Do you swear to make war against injustice, without cessation and without mercy?

[lightblindbadass]

[Now a small smile breaks out across his lips as he answers with an enthusiastic:] Hell yes.

[wynn]

[ Wynn doesn't so much as break stride. ]

Do you swear never to lie, and to remain faithful to your pledged word?

[lightblindbadass]

[This seems to be the only thing to give Riddick the slightest of pauses. It wasn't the actual vow itself, more the fact that he was actually in the position to make such a vow. And that he was willing to do so.

New life, new chances. His resolve firmed as he reached out and took his future by the horns.]

I swear it.

[wynn]

Do you swear to be generous, and to listen to and respect all?

[notafraidofthedark]

I do.

[wynn]

[And he fixes Riddick with a critical eye, as if making certain he thinks most deeply upon this one:]

Do you swear to be everywhere and always the champion of the right and the good against injustice and evil?

[notafraidofthedark]

[Riddick does pause at this once more, his eyes straying back to the floor in front of himself.

He had always fought against injustice- when it came to himself.

He had been nearly every shade of evil possible, though he had his own rough sort of code of honor when it came to the things he did.

Thinking about the things he would and would not do, even when he was on his own, made him realize that his personal code coincided quite well with that of the Knights. Instead of fighting for his survival alone he now had found a cause which allowed him to fight for others, but not within the confines of the law. He would be with an organization that worked within it's own set of rules, and those rules were one's he could stand behind.

He looks back up to Wynn, his voice steady, gravely and deep as he answers once more.]

I swear to always be the champion of the right and the good against injustice and evil.

[wynn]

Sir Ironsides. [ He speaks to the dwarf without turning to look at him. ] Do you accept Sir Riddick as a member of the Dragon's Hide?

[ironsides]

[ The dwarf waddles forward, standing there to scrutinize Riddick from the step. ]

Do you swear to stand as the sword and shield to protect this Knighthood from harm?

[lightblindbadass]

[The wry grin is back in place as Riddick turns to answer Dovon.] Oh, I swear it.

[ironsides]

Then by the power of my office, I grant thee the title of Full Knight of the Dragon's Hide! [ He moves to swat a hand hard onto Riddick's shoulder ] Rise and take your place up here, lad.

[lightblindbadass]

[Riddick stands quickly, the lines on his face prominent once more. He sticks his hand out to Dovan, clasping the dwarfs own for a firm shake. He does the same with Wynn, giving him the tiniest of nods in thanks before turning to face the room in general.

The smile breaks across his face now, his eyes sweeping each of his guests in acknowledgement and landing on Katniss where they stay, his grin even more pronounced than before. BE PROUD LITTLE SURROGATE SISTER!]
