[ Usually Luthir is nothing if not punctual. However, considering what had happened on his last mission, losing a team member, and having to deal with a crisis that might have pitted three species against one another in a major war effort, well... he's been distracted.

So first thing this morning, he's rapping with quiet insistence upon the door of his squire's room. ]]

[Morgan's just finished getting dressed as he hears the knock on his door. He grabs his coat, holding it by his side, as he opens the door.]

Yes?

[ The elf on the other side of the door is about as... generically elven in appearance as you can get, down to his wardrobe and line fais appearance. He certainly wasn't at Morgan's squiring ceremony, however. ]

... Morgan McCleary?

[He comes out completely from his room, closing the door behind him before nodding.]

And you are?

[ He inclines his head in a very polite and respectful gesture, but only the tiniest bit, as if to not be too polite and respectful B| ] Sir Luthir Reedhym. I've heard you're to be my squire.

[He returns the nod. He'd probably bow lower or something cuz he's the squire and shit but he's still kinda squished against the door since he closed it. Why? Because he's an awkward sunuvabitch and that's the kinda character I wanted to create. So deal with it. Gawd.]

I've heard you've been busy, Sir Luthir.

[luthir]

We only recently returned from a mission that's left a number of loose ends that required tying. I apologize.

[He offers his hand.]

[luthir]

[ A firm but brief shake ensues ] Equally, I imagine. Though Wynn didn't get a chance to tell me anything about you.

Whatever you're willing to share. Perhaps we could walk as we talk, however.

I'd appreciate that.

[He gestures with his free hand.]

[ Luthir obliges, moving to one side of the hall to make ample room for Morgan to walk beside him, without being right on top of him. ] Do you hail from the Shadow World?

[Phew, finally. Personal space has returned. Morgan throws his coat on, crossing his arms across his chest as he walks beside Luthir.]

No, I'm from here. Ireland, actually.

[luthir]

You haven't found yourself too far from home, then.

[He the corners of his mouth twitch upward briefly.]

No, but I find a person's yearning for home is rarely related to distance.

A truth we know a great deal about here.

Much nicer beds here, anyway.

We certainly don't lack for opulence and comfort, no, but there are few here who place much value on those things.

I wouldn't count myself as one of those few.

[He stretches awkwardly, cracking his back as a way of proving a point.. a point he hasn't made yet.]

Although you won't find me complaining either.

And what would you claim to value?

[He walks in silence as he considers that.]

Peace seems like too strong a word for it. Calm, I suppose.

Rusty, actually. I've tried not to use them for quite some time now.

Retired? Or something else?

Self-imposed exile would be more accurate.

And what drives a man to such extremes?

[uponwildwaves]

Control. Or lack thereof I suppose.

Then you mean to assert some sense of control over your life through becoming a Knight?

[A singular laughs escapes him as he reaches up to scratch a temple.]

In a sense. To be honest I thought it safer for others if I were to have Knights close by to... subdue me.
