[ The offices of NOVA Records seem to be a hoppin' place.  Fancy dressed execs and stylish people who look important and wear hoity sunglasses stream in and out of the glass doors, and no one seems to pay the group any particular mind when they walk into the large, spacious white lobby.  A large square pool dominates this side of the room, the NOVA label emblazoned on the tiles below the water.   A side staircase leads to an upper balcony, but most traffic seems to be to and from the elevator banks on the right side of the room, and into the hallways back behind the large black front desk.  

At the desk sits a redheaded secretary, with perfectly curled long hair and too-red lipstick.   A security guard stands against the wall behind her, staring straight ahead, a gun visible on his hip.  ]

[ Burt clicks his tongue in the clear manner used for calling dogs ] C'mon Lassie, let's work on getting you that studded collar. [ He lays out a thick stack of papers, pulling out a felt pen and writing Finnick's name in on the top lines. He circles a number of blank lines on the bottom. ]

Here, here, here, you know the goddamn drift.

[Ugh. He gets up and tries to keep his swagger on as he makes his way back to the desk. At least now he could blame his round-trip to Fiji if he was acting a little off. He managed to put it down for the whole five minutes or whatever he was back there and only got a constitution check of 11 so.]

I certainly do. [He then gets to work on putting his signature in all the appropriate places.]

That a boy. In the meantime, Fluffy, you show me yours, I'll show you mine. [ He slides a NOVA business card with his cell over. ] We're gonna make beautiful music together, boys. You won't regret this for an instant.

[nothingsodivine]

No, I bet we won't. [He hands him a card that has his real name and his number on it, but conveniently leaves off the paranormal part. If he Googles him, it'll just look like a lot of shady cases, but pretty decent success rate, so he ain't bothered by Burt finding out about anything.] We'll see what we can do about your brother. Until then? Just play it cool.

[starfucker]

[ Burt slips it in a pocket, glancing at Finnick to make sure he's dutifully signing his shit. ]

Gimme a week or two and we'll get you a good team. Makeover, stylist, vocal coach, dance instructor, the whole fucking brigade. In the meantime --

[ And the door slams open, revealing three security officers: an African American male, busty blonde woman with a no-nonsense expression, and a dark haired lady who looks like she could kill a man with her thighs.

"You needed these people removed, sir?" asks the dark haired woman, glancing at them all suspiciously.

Burt waves a hand in annoyance. ]

Do I look like I'm under duress here? Jesus fucking Christ, what am I paying you for? Get back downstairs. Shoo. Go on. Point your tasers somewhere else, get your jollies on. [ The man and the dark haired woman hesitate a moment, but nod and back out. The blonde woman waits until the door's closed before looking back at them, taking a few steps further in and putting one hand on a hip.

"I think it'd be a good idea if we at least did a thorough frisking first," she says, in a ridiculously slutty voice that even gets Dumage to raise an eyebrow. It raises even higher when she whips off her security hat, blonde hair cascading down, as she reaches for her top button to start undoing it. "We can even take turns."

Burt stares for a moment directly at her breasts as she starts exposing cleavage, before seeming to remember what's going on and slapping the table. ]

Stripper! Right. Definitely got the 'surprise' part down, nice work, sweetheart. Bad timing though. Come back in five. [ He snapped a finger at her, winking and clucking his tongue, and she looked about in obvious bewilderment, before sadly rebuttoning her top. She pouts slightly as she turns to go, and Burt quite blatantly enjoys the view for a moment before adding as the door clicks closed: ]

Find out something good on my brother, and I'll send you her as a token of my gratitude.

[....Did that really just happen?

Des blinks a few times and then shakes it off.] You do that. [He'll send her to Buffy's sexually-frustrated lapdog. He could probably use a good frisking.] In the meantime, I got a thing I need to get these kids to. Work of a den mother's never done, you know? [He waves and starts ushering people out the door.] Let's move it, people. Lunch is on whoever makes me late for my next appointment. Hustle, hustle.

[He waits until there's a door between them and Burt and promptly claps a hand on Dumage and Kat's shoulders, so that he's got one woman on either side of him.] Toldja there's a good reason to keep me around.

[ It really just happened. ]

All but a free pass to snoop around as much as we choose. Not bad at all, darling. [ She shrugs her shoulder up playfully under his hand, turning to give him a coy smile. ]

[shootfirst]

[ Kat, however, yanks away sharply, glancing between them. ] And all but sold Finnick's soul to Satan in the process.

C'mon. Let's make with the espionage bit and then scram. [ She heads towards the elevator without waiting for a reply. ]

I'm used to it. [that was his equivalent of an eeyore "thanks for noticing me." he matches pace with kat, extremely eager to get in that elevator and away from burt's office.]

[Des just keeps walking with an arm around Dumage and laughs, waving a hand.] See? He's used to it.

[ annnd they're in the elevator now ] Rather a lot of us to go snooping about. Maybe we should just send out a couple to see if there's anything worth a look in Chad's office.

Seeing how I've auctioned off my soul, I think it's only fair that I get to sit this one out.

Plus, he's the most high profile now.

Dumage, why don't you escort him back down to the lobby?

Don't be so dramatic. It's pop stardom. No one will even care about you in a month. [God, Finnick. Way to be a bitch.

He side-eyes Kat.] Should I really be alone with you?

[Martha just sort of raises an eyebrow at...everything.] I'll bet you five quid his office is magically booby-trapped.

[God this mission is like the continuing adventures of Martha's uselessness.]

[shootfirst]

[ Kat fixes Des with a frightening smile. ] Why? You scared of me? [ She hits the open doors button on the next floor down ] Booby traps, I can handle. And he'll bounce back, or something.

[ She flounces out into the hall. ]

[Useless or not, Martha's going with Kat.] Yeah, that was sort of the implication there. Hell if I'm going to underestimate you.

You lot have fun. [ She twines herself around Finnick's arm and presses herself to his side in the elevator. They'll be allll alone >:) ]

[Des blinks at Martha... yeah, he's a dick and forgot she was there. Go team. He shakes it off and turns back to glare at Kat.] Oh, I can't wait to see an expert at work.

Good luck. [He bades them farewell with a half-wave and looks down at Dumage on his side. ... welp, it can't be any worse than Burt.]

Must be a change from what you see in the mirror. [ she just throws that over her shoulder, heading down the long hallway. There are no doors to the left, just like above, but instead of one desk out here leading into any office, there are three doors. The first she glances into via a little glass window inset there - anyone else who looks in would just seem a conference room with a large round boring table that doesn't have a cool ass dragon statue in it.

The second door she stops at triumphantly, since it says "OFFICES OF CHAD BECKSWORTH" on the door. She pulls it open boldly and waltzes inside.

There's no receptionist here at the desk at all - in fact, it looks as if whoever worked the desk hasn't been there in awhile. The door to Chad's actual office stands firmly closed (and locked). ]

Please do try to pull this crap off better than what I just did in there. I dare you. [Poor Martha. This is pretty much a preview of What's Yet To Come in the adventures of... this.

He walks into Chad's office and whistles.]

Looks like Chad really is in Fiji.

[ with a mighty roll of her eyes, she heads over to the locked interior door, and gives des a sickeningly sweet smile, rapping on it with a knuckle. ]

Open sesame.

[ to a canny observer (wis check 14 or more), there's a tiny charge in the air at her words, as if there were a noise being made just outside one's frequency, and then the door simply creaks open of its own accord invitingly. looking quite smug, she waltzes straight in, though she holds up her hand for them to not follow her quite yet.

a few steps inside, without even hitting the light switch, she closes her eyes, and spreads her palms out in front of her. ]

[ several moments pass, before she squinches her eyes together, and then peeks one open, looking disappointed. then she looks back over her shoulder and gestures for them to come in. ]

Magic-free. Maybe I shouldn't be surprised, from a guy who's a professed Shadowhater. [ she snorts, and flicks the lights on, revealing the austere, simple white room that serves as Chad's office. Some records line the wall here as well, but set in rigid order over one case, with little space between them. Most of the furniture is leather, and the desk boasts a lamp and a powered down computer, with a minimum of locked file cabinets. ]

[Wis check 18. MMMM. SMELL THAT MAGICKY OZONE. Des strolls in and immediately goes to one of the cabinets. Locked. Beautiful.] Okay, Sabrina, why don't you work that mojo on one of these suckers. See what Chad's hiding in here.

Glad to see picking locks is beyond your bag of tricks. [ She takes a moment to deliberate over which cabinet drawer to open, before settling for one slightly below the middle. With another quick rap, it springs open, and she shoots him a grin. ]

At least tell me you can read. [ She tosses a file in his direction at random (reflex save [DEX check] 13+ to catch it...) Also make general search checks [INT check] for what info they uncover! ]
