The "afterparty" is rumored to be the real main event of the night. A black-tie affair in the lavish, opulent ballroom, it is every new Knight's chance to mingle and meet some of their new brothers in arms. Of course, a couple hours are provided following the ceremony for everyone to change, do hair and makeup, and choose from the vast array of formal attire in the closets of the balcony "dressing rooms" located at the top of spiraled staircases on either side of the ballroom. A separate dressing room exists for men and women, and they include full bathrooms (with, thankfully, very modern plumbing).

The squires are usually among the last to arrive, and the ballroom is full to the brim with a fancy array of people, of all shapes, sizes and species.

Hope none of you are shy. They're all here to meet you.

Feel free to make your own open threads for people to come congratulate your newly pledged knight.

ooc; also if your Knight wants to get all gussied up, you can make a Disguise (Cha) check for how good they were at hair/makeup/stylin', etc!  This goes for... any time.

Yes, well. [She tries to dismiss the compliment, not sure how else to respond. Instead, she'll move on to what she really wants to talk about, lowering her voice.] Christos told me he was there.

[bancroft]

... Aye. That he was. [ His tone softens a bit more, and his pacing to match. ] It did something to him.

[socialgraces]

[She pales.] What do you mean?

[bancroft]

Nothing irreparable, I assure you. But he was more distraught than any of us, after his own fashion.

[socialgraces]

I think he was more disappointed than anything. But he was kind enough to wait with me at the cleric's wing for part of the time.

[She snorts lightly.] I'm sure that was more due to that stupid agreement we jokingly made so many years ago.

[bancroft]

Agreement?

Do tell.

[socialgraces]

Well, now it just seems in bad taste, given I owe him my life. [She pulls herself closer to him, making sure no one can overhear.] I told Christos if I ever died, not to leave my body alone with Solace.

It was just a little joke, but I wouldn't put it past him to uphold it.

[bancroft]

[ Thomas bends his head closer to hers, eyebrow quirking up at the revelation. ]

... Terminally literal, as always.

[socialgraces]

[Why do they have to talk about his most charming qualities? Okay, maybe they're just charming to her, but it makes her face light up fondly. And then she's brought back to present and her smile quickly fades.] But um, I'm sure that's why he stayed.

[bancroft]

Ohh, I wouldn't be so entirely sure.

I rather think he prefers your company to most of ours.

[socialgraces]

Even when I'm... unconscious. [She prefers that to dead. And don't get her hopes up, Thomas. She'll just try her best to suppress that flutter in her stomach as she lightly snorts.] I'm not sure what to make of that. Besides, I haven't seen him in weeks, so apparently he isn't too fond of my company.

But I am quite fond of yours, so I'd rather focus on that while I have your attention. [As she smiles at him charmingly.]

[bancroft]

Well, I'd be hard pressed to complain about your good taste.

[socialgraces]

[Her grin widens and she focuses on dancing for a while, obviously amused with how well they're doing.] Where'd you learn to dance like this?

[bancroft]

[ Something in his eyes tightens just the slightest, even as his smile stays on ] Justice dragged me through my paces, time and time again.

[socialgraces]

I should have known this wouldn't be the type of hobby you'd pick up on your own. Of course, it always takes two to tango.

[bancroft]

[ That gets a loud, deep laugh from him, and he twirls her around in response ]

Why I'm always glad to find a willing partner.

[socialgraces]

You'll always have me, Thomas. I'm not that easy to get rid of, apparently.

[bancroft]

For which I am particularly grateful.

[socialgraces]

[She gives him a smile.] Thank you for making this night a lot less awkward than I thought it would be.

[bancroft]

[ The music slows to a stop and he gives her one slow, elegant spin, drawing her near once more. ]

The very least I could do.

[socialgraces]

[She uses this opportune closeness to pull him in for a hug, resting the side of her face against his chest.] Thank you for everything, Thomas.

[bancroft]

My pleasure and honor, my dear. [ His words are more gentle than before, and he returns the hug, dropping a brief kiss atop her head. ]

[socialgraces]

[She closes her eyes momentarily at the kiss before pulling back.] Find me later for that second dance. [She offers him one last smile, tenderly squeezing his hand, and then lets go, making her way back through the crowd.]
