Faye found one of the rec rooms with a giant TV. She also found popcorn. So with remote in hand, she's cruising through the channels, looking for something to occupy her time.

Since she's a little out of the loop on reality tv (oh my god, the 90s did not have this many train wrecks on the air), she settles in to catch up on some celebrity gossip because she's 17 and that is what her heart desires.

She scoots herself down on the couch to stretch out her legs. With her feet propped on the coffee table in front of her, she tosses a piece of popcorn into her mouth. The volume is probably up higher than it needs to be, but what the hell does she care about being courteous?

'Fraid not. [ There's a genuine sympathy there, but it's not pity, as he stands back up and nods for her to follow. ] C'mon. Let's find out whether instinct kicks in.

[Faye kicks her feet out and hops up to standing, trailing a few steps after him. She's good back here. The view is nice.]

So how long have you been doing the Knightly thing?

As soon as I got out of high school. So about... four years now? [ he sounds almost thoughtful, but shrugs it off ] The moment I was free to sign up, I hopped a plane.

[Well, that gives her a little more information about this fine piece of knight.]

A plane, huh? So you're from around here. You remember.

[She only sounds slightly bitter. Mostly curious.]

Must be nice.

This whole Knights thing is sort of a ... family business, you could say. Wynn's my great-great-great... you get the idea.

[ He glances over his shoulder ] A lot of my family's chosen the life so I grew up knowing all about it. My dad, though, wasn't one of 'em.

[reallywicked]

Dear old dad not as keen on the life of chivalry?

[She'll save her questions about Wynn for later.]

You can say that again. He felt like it was ... "a barbaric way of dealing with the modern world" and "out of touch" and all kinds of stuff. Plus, he felt like it was always expected of him, and I think that just pissed him off more.

[reallywicked]

I'm guessing he wasn't so thrilled that you didn't see it his way.

[It's not really a question, because if someone has that many feelings on the subject, she can't imagine them just accepting their own son going the other way.]

[ a humorless snort ] I've sort of been all but disowned.

[reallywicked]

Oh. [She's sort of regretting this topic now.] Harsh.

[She turns around and rests against the pool table, placing her hands on the edge.]

You seem to like it here, though. Unless that's just an act for the new guys.

Happy as a clam. [ he moves to fetch two pool cues and tosses one at her reeeeflex save get ] Wouldn't be anywhere else.

[Reflex save 14. She catches the cue but not with a ton of extra flair or anything. Just some decent mid-air grabbing skillz.]

Kinda wondering about the why, though. I mean... I'm stuck here. As far as I can tell, no one knows how to get me back to where I came from... wherever that is. And maybe this place is better than that one, but I couldn't tell you because I don't REMEMBER any of it.

But you're from this world. You remember who you are and where you've been. And you choose to be here.

But why?

Because ... the Knights are the good guys. And people like you, who are stuck here, shouldn't be the only ones who have to fight for yourselves. You deserve to know that we want you around. And you shouldn't be the only ones stuck cleaning up the bad guys who fall through either. This is my world and I wanna protect it.

[reallywicked]

[Faye doesn't have a witty comeback for that. She's quiet and thoughtful, but trying not to show it. She walks slowly around the pool table, taking the rack off the balls and lining up a shot to break. Dex check of 20 total would imply that muscle memory has kicked in regarding the game.]

Looks like I'm solids.

[nepotism]

[ his eyebrows shoot straight up, and he seems so impressed that he forgets what they were just talking about anyways. he lets out a low whistle. ]

... That you are.

[reallywicked]

[A cocky smirk spreads over her features as she sets up her next shot. Except apparently she got too cocky because she rolled a Dex check of 3 for that next shot. Consider that a scratch.

She scowls and tries to play it off.]

Whatever. Guess it's your go.

[nepotism]

[ and with a 19, he downs multiple balls in an incredibly impressive shot that scatters them to several pockets. ]

I'm a little rusty. Nobody'll play with me anymore.

[reallywicked]

[Faye will make the best of it and stand back to check out his ass form.]

Gee, I wonder why.

[nepotism]

[ he bends to line up another shot, but glances briefly over his shoulder, smirking and fouling up his next go. ] ... I really don't know.

[reallywicked]

[Faye's shakes her head and tsks as she approaches the table.]

It's no fun if you don't actually try to win. [Still, she sets up a shot (dex 18) and sinks in a side pocket.] Unless you're just trying to check out my ass. [Said with a world full of confidence as she makes sure to position herself for just that and shoots again. This time, she nearly makes the second shot, but goes just a bit wide.

She pulls herself to standing smoothly and turns to face her opponent.] Well?

Not that it's not worth the view but...

[ he moves around her with a smirk ] I wasn't going easy.

[reallywicked]

[She walks around the table, watching him. Once the reaches the opposite side, she puts both hands on the edge and leans in.]

Oh yeah? Maybe we should have a wager, then- since it's anyone's game.

[nepotism]

Oh yeah? [ his smile crooks up higher ] What're you thinking?
