[ As missions go, it's pretty straightforward. A week ago, a large, creepy looking castle materialized on a cliffside above a small town in Portugal, and the locals are too freaked to go check it out. No one's gone in or out, and theoretically it could just be empty. But seeing as how it probably came from the Shadow World, it could also house artifacts that the Knights should get their hands on before evil doers do. So it's their job to scope it out, maybe loot the place of the good stuff, and make sure no threats are hiding there.

Val'drin surveys the place with hands on his hips from the gate. ]

I believe the phrase is a 'fixer upper'.

It is true that most people tend to keep their most precious valuables at a higher position in their homes when they possess multiple stories. [ he says this as if it were an interesting factoid, no other reason, really 8| ] Up it is. [ he follows close behind her, the stairs creaking a bit under their every step. spiders crawl across the railing, and val'drin plinks one of the side viciously with a finger and thumb.

at the top of the steps, they find themselves in wide hallway, with arching ceilings, and a moth-eaten red rug. a large grandfather clock dominates the wall, and various doors stand closed all down the length of it on either side. ]

[After a moment Morgan, staying well away from the spiders, follows behind Chiaki and Val'drin.]

I'm not sure I want to catch a tiger by the toe, either.

[She sighs after a moment, hands on her hips.] Come on, I made the last decision.

And here I thought women were always complaining that the men did all the deciding.

Very well. Manly decisiveness, it is. [ he turns to the left, heading down that way without much caution. ] Interesting architecture. Certainly a human abode, someone rich but hardly in keeping with the times. Even in Shadow times.

I hope there are no tigers needing to be caught. The spiders are enough.

[He falls in line behind Val'drin, stepping gingerly... because traps and stuff.]

Human? What makes you so certain?

Because all the statues, paintings, etc. inside are depicted as human. Other than the monsters outside of course, but... [ he stops in the archway of a room and stands aside, nodding in there. ] Most monsters don't bother to learn table manners. [ it's a rather extravagant dining room, with an incredibly long table that has only two chairs - one at each end. they look like a mile apart, so it must make for awkward dinner conversation... ]

Rather large castle for only two inhabitants. [She's just...not even going to say anything about the monster comment - after all, it's doubtful that most Knights would consider werewolves to fall under the category of "monsters". Hopefully. Except for Lan.]
