[So remember how Gar said everyone would hear from their Knight mentor on like Friday or so? Yeah, not so much. Sven hasn't seen a single glimpse of Dumage since then, because she's been conveniently avoiding him.

He ends up hearing her, before he sees her. Because there is the definite sound of two people arguing outside in the hallway, getting closer and closer.

The first voice is hers:]

Look, I have a lot of work to do, so I don't see the harm in waiting until he actually needs something. He's not a child, he doesn't need me to hold his hand and point him towards the bathrooms.

[And the other is Mark, the guy Sven talked to at the party with the yellow tie:]

He's still your squire! You're supposed to answer his questions, make him feel at home, that kind of thing. Just... be ... nice? [He sounds as if he realizes this might be a big request and he's afraid she's going to swat him even for suggesting it. Her eye roll is practically audible:]

If I must.

[Annnnd then there's a solid rapping on the door. When opened, Mark releases his grip on Dumage's arm and she goes staggering a step to the side, shooting him a glare. He smiles widely at Sven.]

Iron Man. [His face lights up like this is the greatest thing on the planet as he adds, holding up two fingers:] Two.

Well, I can certainly see that now he's gotten all the important information, and since you two seem to be getting on so well, I think I'll just slip out for a little light... er, combat training. [Her lips say combat training. Her eyes say 'going to the bar'.] Ta.

[He stares at Dumage for a minute before turning his attention back to Mark.] Maybe I should just ... switch knights or something. Can I do that?

[He glances over his shoulder as she slips out the door] I-I-I'm not too sure, really. You'd have to ask Wynn about that. She's really not... [He seems to stop himself from saying 'that bad' to search for a better phrase.

And is unable to come up with one :( ]

[Let Sven take a stab at that.] ... interested in having a squire?

Me? [He seems so genuinely surprised, as if the idea has never even entered his head for some reason.] I - I mean I don't know if - it's not that I'm not...

Um ... I was talking about Dumage. You know, not being interested in having a squire.

OH. Heh. [/awk. ward.] I knew ... that.

Well, she just uh, likes doing her own thing, I guess. Some people do.

I can feel it. So do I. But there comes a time when you have to ... do other people's things. I guess. No, wait, things for other people. That. [He realizes that he has been holding his cigarette and just letting it burn for like forever now and does a quick scan of the room for a place to put it out.] But I guess it's not a big deal.

Well, I just don't want you to ... feel not at home. I mean that's what this place is - it's a home. Not just a -- [wow this sounds lame. /trailing off...]

Once you get to work on missions, it'll be better.

It doesn't bother me. [He shrugs in an attempt to ... succinctly reply to Mark's ramblings.]

When do we start on missions?

They usually crop up every week or two. It shouldn't take long. There was some big disaster in Eastern Europe that's sort of... taking focus right now, I think.

In Slovechnia. Their entire economy system fell apart almost overnight, thanks to some kind of hacker... sabotage, I don't really know the details. There were already a bunch of Knights there trying to take down the Shadow slave trade that's been going on for years, and then ... well, after that whole thing happened, the riots and mobs and general chaos sort of broke out, I guess. So all the diplomats came home, and now Wynn's probably figuring out who to send in to try and clean up the mess.

So ... you think that's where we're going to get sent out, probably?

Most likely? At least some of us will.
