And back to the hotel go the ladies, ready to say their goodbyes, with Myri & Buffy heading to Chicago to reunite Rafael with Jade, and Kat & Gar meeting the rest of the team back at the castle to try to convince Wynn to let them remain on their mission...

[Myri looks over her shoulder at Buffy and smiles.]

I know it is the same path we took to get here, but it always seems so... extraordinary. I think I could stay up here forever and never tire of it.

[She stretches her limbs, as if they're restless at the thought.]

I hope the others do not get in too much trouble while we are away.

[slay]

Ahh, they'll be all right. Big tough knights and all. Besides, I'm pretty sure Kat's gonna yell louder at Wynn than he does at the rest of them. [ she gets comfortable in the seat, turning her attention away from myri to glance past her out the window. ] Maybe someday you can retire, get a nice penthouse with a cloudy view. That'd be sort of like living up here.

[witchwoman]

[Myri doesn't really know what a penthouse is, but she gets the idea.]

Most nights when I dream? I dream of flying.

It feels so real- like a memory you can't quite pinpoint. And it makes me think-

[She stops and shakes her head] I must sound so silly.

[slay]

Makes you think maybe you did it before? [ buffy ventures. maybe it's not the same thing. but her dreams definitely feel like things she's done before, that aren't exactly her memories. but she has done them before, if she can trust mr. gray. demon fighter and all. ]

[witchwoman]

[Myri looks up quickly, then nods, smiling bashfully again]

But they are just dreams. This is the closest to flying I'll ever truly see. Perhaps I am merely feeling what Amaranth feels.

[Except she doesn't believe it, even though it's a perfectly logical option.]

[slay]

You never know. Sometimes, things that seem crazy ... well, they're more real than you think. [ she looks all distant and over-identify-y. she snaps out of it though and gives myri a smile. ] Magic, for instance.

[witchwoman]

Or a woman stronger than men twice her size? [Myri forgets that there is much about this world that she doesn't understand.] Perhaps it is time to believe that anything is possible.

[slay]

What, they don't have the saying "the bigger they are, the harder they fall" where you come from? Doesn't take scary Buffy strength for a girl to take down a guy twice her size.

[witchwoman]

[Myri just shakes her head.]

You make it sound like I could do such a thing.

[slay]

I make it sound that way because you could. You've just gotta get the right moves, is all. Practice. [ she perks up a little at that, as if something occurs to her. ] I could show you.

[witchwoman]

[She just looks at Buffy, mouth slightly open. No one has ever offered to teach her a skill like that- not since Magretha took her in and taught her to be a witchwoman when she was a child. No one ever cared enough to do such a thing after that.]

I... [Her voice cracks and she swallows to start again.] I would like that very much.

[slay]

Great. One super special training session coming right up -- or, just as soon as we get back to the castle, anyway.

[witchwoman]

[Back to the castle. Myri knew that they'd be going back soon enough. It made her worry about the fate of the others, what they were going through with Wynn.]

If we're allowed to train at all when we get back.

[slay]

They'll let us train. [ buffy's tone is reassuring, even though she can't pretend to be positive. ] They're not gonna fire us, just trade us out for more experienced people while we get more experience.

[witchwoman]

[Myri is trying to be less worried about that whole thing. She manages a nod of agreement to Buffy's words.]

It's just the first home I've had in so long.

[slay]

[ buffy reaches over to take myri's hand in hers, squeezing it reassuringly. ]

Hey. It'll still be your home. And we'll still be your family, no matter what. Okay?

[witchwoman]

[Her mouth drops open slightly. Family? Myrilandel has never had a family.

Not one that she can remember, anyway. Her eyes get a little watery, but she's smiling after a moment.]

Okay.

[slay]

[ she returns the smile, and reaches up to smooth myri's hair for a moment in an affectionate way. then, after a beat, she releases her hand. ]

I'm gonna go see how long we've got til touchdown.

[witchwoman]

[She just nods at Buffy's comment and settles back in her seat. It's a lot of information and emotion to process right now. But it's good things.

Mostly good things.]
