[[ Towering above our heroes is the fifteen-story NOVA Record Headquarters, an L-shaped structure tipped with a winged roof, covered in reflective window linings that paint a portrait of the New Orleans skyline across its panels. Foot traffic streams in and out, a parade of Bluetooth wearing suits, women in nine-inch heels, and extravagantly dressed stars surrounded by guards and entourage members.

But the lavish exterior hides a dark secret or two, and the Knights have sworn to shine a light on all of them.

Why is a record company funding a church that supports Shadowkind slavery? What are the 'experiments' for which they're buying up Shadowkind DNA, and how does it relate to the mysterious behavioral-control chip found in the displacer beast released in the museum? And, of course, what do they want with Jade, and what do they know about the Lazarus Talisman's current location?

Answers are rarely straightforward on their journey, and it looks like another complication or two are on the way.... ]

[ with a move silently of 14, buffy's the loudest of them, but still pretty effectively sneaky. she leans forward to try and get a look through the window at who thomas means, but falls with a smack to the ground when she leans over too far (spot 1). ]

I'll take your word for it. [ it's quietly grumbled as she pushes herself back up to her hands and knees. ]

[bigbad]

[Spike glances down at her, offering her a hand up and can't help but glance at her behind (spot 17). But he pretty quickly shifts his gaze to her face because he really should focus and anyway, it's rude to ogle. Even if he can't help but appreciate it.]

You okay, pet?

[slay]

Never better. I so enjoy the falling down parts of life. [ she grumbles and gets to her feet with his help, and as she dusts herself off, looks at bancroft. ] What are we waiting for? Let's invite ourselves to the party and get some answers.

Because... [ Thomas glances once more through the window before grinning fiercely, placing one hand on the doorknob, slowly turning it. He seems unfazed by Buffy's clumsy antics - certainly no longer concerned about being heard. ] I know that silhouette.

[ Spike would be able to see the other door opening, and a tall man wearing a hat emerging... at which point Thomas throws open the door, and in a flash, draws out his Excalibur and points it at the temple of the man. ]

Gotcha.

[chessing]

[ to form, sir chessing looks unperturbed by the gun at his temple, although he does offer the tiniest smile of admission of defeat, marked with genuine surprise. ]

... Well played, Thomas.

[slay]

... Jack?! [ buffy's jaw slackens immediately as she recognizes him, and isn't remotely concerned about it going both ways despite her disguise. it's jack, of course he'll know it's her. she drops spike's hand hastily and then steps closer to her knight, as if scrutinizing out of disbelief. ] Are you ... What are you doing here?

[bigbad]

[Spike, who doesn't really know Jack past that he keeps not being around for Buffy, slinks back a bit to let the others handle it. For the moment, he doesn't have any sarcasm to add, just general suspicion and hostility. If Jack was around, why didn't he join up with them?]

[dragonsclaw]

My job. [ he glances down the hall to make certain no one's coming before nodding a greeting to buffy and turning his eyes back to thomas. ] And I followed that job here of all unlikely places. It seems there's a common link between what I've been working on for months and what you've uncovered here.

But this may not be the place to discuss it. Shall we meet up at your hotel room?

[slay]

I -- Yeah. Yeah, absolutely. [ she looks to thomas for confirmation on that because well she probably shouldn't be the one deciding things with him right there. ]

[bancroft]

So long as you're not here to take all the fun away. Two Dragon's Claws on one mission: is this an Apocalypse we're dealing with? [ jack smirks humorlessly at the comment, then tips his hat to thomas, who smacks him on the shoulder ] Very well, Jack, my boy. I'm interested to hear what this is all about. [ he turns to spike and buffy and gestures for them to head towards the exit at the end of the hall ] Come along then.

[bigbad]

Hope not. That sounds tiresome. [Yet not, oddly, as daunting as it should. He shoots another glower at Jack and heads towards the exit.]
