[[ Towering above our heroes is the fifteen-story NOVA Record Headquarters, an L-shaped structure tipped with a winged roof, covered in reflective window linings that paint a portrait of the New Orleans skyline across its panels. Foot traffic streams in and out, a parade of Bluetooth wearing suits, women in nine-inch heels, and extravagantly dressed stars surrounded by guards and entourage members.

But the lavish exterior hides a dark secret or two, and the Knights have sworn to shine a light on all of them.

Why is a record company funding a church that supports Shadowkind slavery? What are the 'experiments' for which they're buying up Shadowkind DNA, and how does it relate to the mysterious behavioral-control chip found in the displacer beast released in the museum? And, of course, what do they want with Jade, and what do they know about the Lazarus Talisman's current location?

Answers are rarely straightforward on their journey, and it looks like another complication or two are on the way.... ]

[Well aren't those the magic words lately?]

I think I know the way. [Bluff: 11] Or if you'd prefer, I know that Burt Becksworth is just down the hall?

[rynn]

[ rynn's response comes quick as a whip ] I'm not here for Burt. [ the judgment is back in her eyes, as she looks as myri skeptically ] You're sure you know where to go?

[witchwoman]

Of course I do. [She straightens up and gets her shit together a little more with a bluff of 18 this time.] I'm with Finnick Odair. I've been here a hundred times. Come on.

[And she will just... start walking down the hall. She has no clue where she is going... whoops.]

[rynn]

[ well that comment seems to pique her interest enough that she sliiides away from the wall and hurries to catch up. ]

That Finnick?

[Too bad she has no idea what that means. She only knows the basic cover story of being arm candy.]

I haven't known him long, if that's what you mean. I met him at a club a few nights ago. He invited me to the shoot today. [Bluff 12]

[Also god only knows where she is leading them. Navigation check of 13 at least keeps her from walking them into a janitor's closet.]

[rynn]

[ rynn says 'hmm' as myri steers her towards the elevator. ] So you're a groupie.

[witchwoman]

[A general Knowledge roll of 15 will hopefully mean she at least was told that word in relation to her 'arm candy' role. She puts on her best offended face.]

I'm a fan. It's not my fault he asked me to be here.

You're the one who said yes. [ they move into the elevator and... she's gonna need to pick a floor at least. eeny meeny miney... ]

[witchwoman]

Would you have said no? [She reaches out and presses the button for the sixth floor. WHY NOT.]

[rynn]

I get the feeling he's not my type. { SPOT CHECK YO ]

[witchwoman]

Really? He seems to be just about everyone's type... [Spot 24! Super observant Myri!]

[rynn]

[ their proximity in the elevator as it whirs to life, taking them down, allows myri to not only note the slight scent of sulfur in the air, but to take note of the tips of two tiny protuberances from rynn's hair: the smallest little horns. looking again, there's something off about her skin coloring as well. ]

Maybe I'm just not into other singers. [ she shrugs ] He gives off a certain image, anyway. Playboy, sure, but not exactly a bad boy. [ she smiles, with teeth just a little too sharp ] A little too wholesome.

[witchwoman]

[She's not expecting any of that, so she's probably doing a poor job of hiding her surprise.]

You prefer your men to be less upstanding. [It's not really a question. She's definitely paying more attention now.] I can see how that could be fun.

So you're signing on with NOVA? Would I know you from anywhere?

[rynn]

Upstanding. [ she snorts a laugh. ] Yeah, that's a good way to put it. [ she ponders the question for a sec ] I don't know, you big on European music?

[witchwoman]

[European... She's heard that before. Oh, right.]

I know Rafael Giovanni?

[rynn]

Who's that supposed to be?

[witchwoman]

An Italian singer I met a few months back.

Have you never heard of him? He's got quite the following in Europe, from what I'm told.

[rynn]

Can't be that big. I've never heard of him.

[witchwoman]

Hmmm. [Saved by the bell as the doors open and Myri walks out, turning left and crossing her fingers.]

Where in Europe are you from?

[rynn]

Around. [ the emphasis makes it clear that divulging information about herself is not at the top of her list of priorities. ] Never really liked staying in one place.

[witchwoman]

[Myri catches that and knows she's skating on thin ice right now.]

I traveled a lot when I was younger.

[And it's said with just about as much vapid enthusiasm as is expected of her arm candy persona. Also a Nav check botch of 7, whoops. Maybe she should have taken a left instead of a right at the end of that hall?]

[rynn]

How nice for you. [ her sarcasm increases ten fold when myri opens a door into... a janitor's closet. rynn rolls her eyes and turns away. ] I think I'll try looking on my own, thanks.

[witchwoman]

[Busted. She smiles sheepishly and shrugs.]

Guess I don't remember the way as well as I thought. Well.. I'm sure you'll find what you're looking for.

[rynn]

[ the woman narrows her eyes at myri, before turning on her heel ] I'm sure. [ and off she goes~ ]

[witchwoman]

[Myri's not about to run after the strange woman. That would probably be out of character for her mission persona. So she wanders her way back to the elevator to try to find the others again.
