[[ Several of the Knights discovered a secret room hidden in Nova Headquarters, full of strange occultish paraphernalia and guarded by monstrous warriors. Amid this was direct evidence of an interest in the Talisman. They also took captive Chad Becksworth's personal assistant, Olean Gilbert, who has information about the location of the mysterious woman that Burt told Finnick about - the one whose presence has had a major effect on Chad's personality. Olean doesn't even know the woman's name, calling her the "Mind Master", and identifying her as Chad's 'advisor'.

The Knights also discovered that the other Dragon's Claw, Sir Jack Chessing, had followed his own secret mission to Nova Headquarters, and he'll be meeting back at the hotel with them to explain what brought him there...

This log covers any non-work related shenanigans the Knights have while staying in New Orleans, immediately following the last log and extending over the next two weeks.

It was definitely him, alright. Here for a personal meeting with Becksworth and several others, but it's been delayed until Chad shows up. We heard him talking to that one. [ he jerks his thumb towards the door where olean is stashed ] Who also spilled that he knows where Becksworth's 'advisor' is, a woman who makes him all but piss himself, who seems to hold a lot of influence over Chad.

[ he leans forward ] And the others found a little meeting room for some sort of secret cabal. Two plus two seems to indicate Sarandis is a member of it. Which only seems to hold true since...

[rationalizes]

Since according to Wynn, Sarandis has a history of working against Shadowkind in his own country?

[chessing]

[ jack nods grimly ] We seem to have a conspiracy on our hands that stretches much further than we initially believed.

Thomas, I think it would be best if we both tailed Sarandis at this point. Some of the other Knights must remain on watch at NOVA Records for signs of Becksworth's return, we'll need at least two to guard the prisoner, and a small team to see what they can discover about this adviser. [ he looks thoughtful, as he examines the group, taking stock of what they have to work with in order to figure out what else must be done, and done soon ]

Anyone ever notice how just when we think this can't get bigger and badder, it finds a way? [ she looks around, because snark is the best way to deal with feeling out of your depth. after a beat, she says decisively; ] I don't know about you guys, but personally I'd like to get to know the lady who's got our illustrious captive wigging like this.

[ jack gives her a small tight smile at her appraisal of the situation. ] I was going to suggest you take part in that particular mission.

Kat, why don't you see if you hack into the online appointment book for Chad, and see if we can figure out the names of who all is coming to this special meeting of his?

Fine. But I might have to actually be in the building to do it. I'll need somebody to cover for me, make sure no one's coming. [ she looks over at mark and then nudges him in the side. ] He'll do.

[he shook his head at buffy about 20 years ago when she asked if he'd talked to rynn. ftr.] I'm always available for a distraction, you know.

[bigbad]

[Spike looks over to Buffy.] I'll come with you. You'll need the back-up.

[slay]

[ jack's answer surprises her, because having oversight is weird. she looks a little surprised and then just quickly nods. ]

I -- Right. I mean, I probably should have -- B-But, good. Glad we're all same page-y. [ because it hadn't occurred to her to wait and see his recommendation since she hasn't had it all year. she looks over at spike with a grateful nod. ]

Alright, so Mister Megastar will run a distraction, Mark'll monitor my position, and I'll hack in. Myri, you wanna keep a watch on the lobby for Becksworth to arrive?

[rationalizes]

I'll go with the Mind Master team in order to keep an eye on Gilbert. We don't need him escaping in the middle of the mission and causing trouble.

[ she shifts in her seat, eyes moving to rafael ] There's something else we should probably mention, about the meeting we had with Burt.

[romanticidal]

[ oh right, says raf's face ] I signed a contract with Signore Becksworth. It will give me access to the building as well. But it is only a temporary arrangement. I do not plan to follow through on creating an album for him or staying with the company. I do not desire to be a part of NOVA.

[postergirl]

Ooo, planning to break a contract. [ dumage smirks from where she sits next to a tense mark ] A really bad boy you brought home. [ she tosses a wink at buffy ]

[witchwoman]

[Myri nods to Kat.] I can alert you or Mark if I see him.

Rafael ... [ there's vivid concern painting her expression, too distracting for dumage's snark to really pierce her. she looks around like maybe she shouldn't, but if anyone in this room's gonna get away with questioning with him, it's her - lbr. ]

Was that such a good idea? I mean, we know these guys are mixed up in complete and utter badness, what if they've got ways of. You know. Making you? Like ... like a magic contract. I mean, obviously physical mafia-esque enforcement would be a lost cause, but ... [ she's worried. she's stupidly worried because it's a little too late to ask these questions, and she knows it, but she has to point it out. ]

[Ugh, gross, does she have to go so moon-eyed over the guy?]

I'm sure they'd have mentioned that in the fine print.

[ he locks eyes with buffy, and there's a fatalistic acceptance in his expression ] I'll do whatever it takes.

We'll need to break Finnick out of his contract whenever it's all said and done. I'm sure we can make sure Rafael is taken care of as well.

And that's the sound of a million teen girls' hearts breaking across the country. [ her worrying expression doesn't fade, and her gaze doesn't leave rafael's face, despite the casual air to her quip. ]

Even magical contracts can be broken, if it should come to that. Not without some difficulty, but nothing we couldn't manage. We'll make sure both our boys emerge safely - you need not worry about that.
