[[ Several of the Knights discovered a secret room hidden in Nova Headquarters, full of strange occultish paraphernalia and guarded by monstrous warriors. Amid this was direct evidence of an interest in the Talisman. They also took captive Chad Becksworth's personal assistant, Olean Gilbert, who has information about the location of the mysterious woman that Burt told Finnick about - the one whose presence has had a major effect on Chad's personality. Olean doesn't even know the woman's name, calling her the "Mind Master", and identifying her as Chad's 'advisor'.

The Knights also discovered that the other Dragon's Claw, Sir Jack Chessing, had followed his own secret mission to Nova Headquarters, and he'll be meeting back at the hotel with them to explain what brought him there...

This log covers any non-work related shenanigans the Knights have while staying in New Orleans, immediately following the last log and extending over the next two weeks.

ANYWAY since finnick has this swank ass penthouse, he tries to ... actually be in it sometimes. even though he does end up spending most of his time at the hotel, it would be suspicious if he didn't live there every now and then.

and at some point he ... threw a party, ok. and invited everyone. look at this shit. live it up, y'all. there's an open bar.

however, finnick, at the moment, is sprawled out on one of the couches engaged in a game of cat's cradle. don't hate, he's hot enough to make that look absolutely enthralling.]

[Myri actually dressed herself this time. So what if someone had probably helped her buy the dress before the party...

At some point, she ends up finding Finnick with his strange mess of string. She stands nearby, head tilted slightly as she tries to figure it out without asking, but eventually she gives in.]

What exactly are you doing?

Playing a game. [he holds up his hands to show her his progress before letting them drop and working his fingers out of the string. he is so over it now that myri's here it's not even funny ok.] You make different figures with the string, that's all.

I have to say, you look absolutely captivating.

[witchwoman]

[She looks curiously at the string, but he drops it away before she can really ask. Before she can ask him to show her, the compliment registers and a blush creeps into her cheeks.]

Thank you. You look... comfortable. [The couch he's lounging on seems like it, at least.]

[he sits up and moves his legs to make room for myri on the couch. just in case she doesn't get the message, he also gives the couch a small pat.]

Being comfortable in any environment is an important skill, don't you think?

[She is a little clueless until he pats the couch, so good job, Finnick. Myri sits close, but not too close.]

One I haven't really mastered. [She admits with a smile.] But maybe I just need the right teacher?

Well, I don't want to brag, but I just may be the best around.

Is that so? [She turns to him with a little smile.]

Well, I see no time like the present for a lesson.

Consider yourself in the middle of one right now. [he moves in closer to her, sliding his arm around her shoulders.] Comfortable yet?

[ dumage, mark, and kat arrive together, but she's the only one who ~dressed up~ for this. they pause in the entrance, and she looks around approvingly. ] Now why doesn't ours look like this?

[he looks over at the three of them and gives a small shrug.] Putting your neck on the line has its perks.

Are we going to wind up having trouble yanking you away from all this eventually, when the mission's over?

Doubtful. I've had more than my share of the limelight. I'd be lying if I said that it doesn't get tiring after awhile.

[postergirl]

[ dumage seems to find that entertaining, and wraps her arm through mark's, saying to him: ] Yes, it must be awful, all that life of luxury. I can see why someone would want to throw it all away to lead a normal life with us peasants.

mark looks offended on finnick's behalf by dumage's jibes, as if he understands exactly how mean she's being, more than anyone. ]

Except this isn't a story, it's his life. His choice what he wants to do with it.

[Surprise! Francesca's been meaning to visit Finnick for a while now and since she heard he was having a party, figured this would be a good time to stop by. It's that 'vacation' everyone keeps encouraging her to take. Besides, she's very interested in this life of luxury he's recently assumed and what all that might include. So, here she is.] Aren't you the life of the party?

[it's been awhile and he wasn't expecting francesca, so he lights up and drops his string like a hot potato at the sound of her voice.]

It's my party, isn't it? [he flashes her a cheeky grin.] What's the point of throwing one if you don't get to be the center of attention for a bit?

Touché. [She moves in for a quick hug before giving the room an appreciate sweep.] Even your descriptions couldn't have prepared me for all this. It's quite... overwhelming, I fear.

Isn't it? You get used to it. [he takes a second to reflect on that.] Which I probably shouldn't, but living in luxury is a familiar feeling to me.

From what you've told me, I believe you'd be the last person to think money could buy happiness. [It's a compliment and her smile makes sure he knows it.] So, I see things are going well and you've certainly been making some influential friends.

You believe right. [he gets up and starts slowly walking toward the bar. now is an excellent time for a drink.] That's why I'm here. Making all the right connections so we stick our noses where they need to be stuck.

I can understand that. [She follows him, always up for a drink.] Has it been worth the trouble? Although, I suppose the fact that you're still here means you must have uncovered something of interest.

Seems that way on both counts. [as he approaches the bar, he sets out glasses for the both of them and pours himself some whiskey.] Which is a lucky thing. I'd hate for all my hard work to be for naught, you know?
