[[ Several of the Knights discovered a secret room hidden in Nova Headquarters, full of strange occultish paraphernalia and guarded by monstrous warriors. Amid this was direct evidence of an interest in the Talisman. They also took captive Chad Becksworth's personal assistant, Olean Gilbert, who has information about the location of the mysterious woman that Burt told Finnick about - the one whose presence has had a major effect on Chad's personality. Olean doesn't even know the woman's name, calling her the "Mind Master", and identifying her as Chad's 'advisor'.

The Knights also discovered that the other Dragon's Claw, Sir Jack Chessing, had followed his own secret mission to Nova Headquarters, and he'll be meeting back at the hotel with them to explain what brought him there...

This log covers any non-work related shenanigans the Knights have while staying in New Orleans, immediately following the last log and extending over the next two weeks.

[ he's slumped against a wall, hands cuffed to the grill on the wall, and he flinches away from her gaze. ]

Y-you can't keep me here forever. They'll come looking, find out all about your little operation.

[slay]

What you know about our operation wouldn't even fill a business card. [ it's disparaging and dismissive. this guy's not remotely threatening, lbr. but buffy can be. ] In fact, I'm willing to bet a glorified secretary doesn't really rank important enough for anyone to even notice you're gone. [ she rests her elbows on her knees, leaning forward (intimidate 11). ]

[snivelling]

[ maybe it's the fact that kat already SHOT HIM IN THE KNEE, but he's not impressed today ]

Say what you want, but I know your faces. Names. Everything you questioned me about.

If you're going to kill me, get it over with. Otherwise, tell me what you want and let me out of here.

You know, someone in your position should really be a little more careful what he asks for, because you don't know just how many people around here are itching to do just that. [ the killing part. she figures that doesn't need clarification. ] Myself included.

[snivelling]

Because unlike you and the people you work for, I know the difference between right and wrong. Here's what I don't think you're getting. We're a lot less likely to kill you for helping us than your boss is when you come crawling back and he finds out everything you've told us. So it might behoove you to try and redirect all that ass-kissing. [ diplomacy 24 ]

[snivelling]

[ welp. that gives him pause. ] And if I do, you'll protect me from them?

Give us something we can use, and I won't let NOVA touch you. [ but she's making no promises about kat, because if she decides to? like hell will buffy stop her. ]

[snivelling]

NOVA. [ he lets out a snort as if her phrasing it that way is darkly humorous to him ]

What? [ she catches onto that and her expression drops a little. ]

[snivelling]

You're afraid of the wrong people. It's not NOVA who'd come after me.

[slay]

Then, who? Who are they working with that's got you wetting yourself?

[snivelling]

Someone you'd be hard pressed to stop, t-that's who.

[slay]

I haven't met anyone yet who I have trouble stopping. The people I work for know how to pick their muscle. Who are you so afraid of?

[snivelling]

That ... Enlightened Brother whatsit? I thought they were just anti-Shadowkind. Why would they - [ beat. herpderp. ] Right. WIth the secret-spilling and the ... Look. I don't know what part of won't let your bad life choices come back and bite you isn't processing here, but I don't care if it's NOVA, or other spooky extremists. We can protect you from them. But, to do that, we need everything you know. [ diplomacy 24 ]

[snivelling]

[ he seems to consider that, looking around miserably at his surroundings, twitching nervously, before saying rapidly: ] The Brotherhood is just one arm of a much larger, much more dangerous group of believers. Chad Becksworth is one of them, and top members are powerful people, all sorts of levels of power.

They're planning something, but if you think they tell me the details, you're underestimating the levels of secrecy these men and women go to.

[slay]

Wow. Planning something. That's ... vaguely in the realm of helpful. Could you paint me a more blurry watercolor about what that something is? You make it sound like we're talking apocalyptic here.

[snivelling]

[ he looks at her like she's the crazy one here ] Why would they want to end the world? They're all living in it too, you know.

[slay]

[ there's a beat. because, well, now that he points it out, it was kind of a strange first place to jump, but it just ... seemed like the right thing to say. and that's weird. she shakes it out and opts for going on the offensive with him again. ] Okay. Yeah. Criticism noted. Still looking for something a teensy more specific.

[snivelling]

[ he frowns, obviously trying to think fast and failing ] ... They want Shadowkind to know their place in this world.

[slay]

Wow. An extremist hate group that wants to put a minority back "in its place." You really are insightful, aren'tcha? They must have hired you for your brains.

[snivelling]

They don't reveal their plans to their subordinates. Because people like you might think it's fun to shoot us in the kneecaps and make us talk. I have nothing to tell.

[slay]

Maybe not. But, you're Chad Becksworth's personal assistant. You should know someone who does. [ she gets to her feet decisively, grabbing a pen and a complimentary hotel message pad. she slaps it down in front of him. ] I'm going to look into this Mind Master of yours. When I get back, I want a list of names - people that Chad's been willing to meet with since he went all Brotherhood cult-y. Give that up, and you just might be worth my time.

[snivelling]

[ he stares at the pad, but says nothing more, scrunching up in the corner and pursing his lips ]
