[[ Several of the Knights discovered a secret room hidden in Nova Headquarters, full of strange occultish paraphernalia and guarded by monstrous warriors. Amid this was direct evidence of an interest in the Talisman. They also took captive Chad Becksworth's personal assistant, Olean Gilbert, who has information about the location of the mysterious woman that Burt told Finnick about - the one whose presence has had a major effect on Chad's personality. Olean doesn't even know the woman's name, calling her the "Mind Master", and identifying her as Chad's 'advisor'.

The Knights also discovered that the other Dragon's Claw, Sir Jack Chessing, had followed his own secret mission to Nova Headquarters, and he'll be meeting back at the hotel with them to explain what brought him there...

This log covers any non-work related shenanigans the Knights have while staying in New Orleans, immediately following the last log and extending over the next two weeks.

I know what you're asking. [ it's said in an almost grouchy way. it's tough to answer because it's complicated. after a beat, she tries all the same. ] We're friends. I mean, before, I did kind of - but he was all hung up on Jade, and then he was so different from what I thought. I mean, not bad different, but - Well, then we went home, and seeing Val'drin again was ... [ she takes a breath, then reaffirms. ] We're friends.

[bigbad]

[That... is sort of helpful and sort of not. He likes her not dating Rafael, but he really doesn't like this Val'drin guy either.]

So.... you and Val'drin, then? [Don't mind Spike as he gets... all the gossip.]

[slay]

[ know your losers enemy. ]

I don't think it's anything serious. Definitely not what Rafael and Jade had.

[bigbad]

So essentially you could still see [me] other men. But not Rafael.

[slay]

I ... Well, I don't know. I mean, we didn't really talk about it. [ it's just her assumption based on him TRYING TO HOOK UP WITH HER IN THE BACK OF ONE OF THE KNIGHTS' OPEN USE VEHICLES. ]

[bigbad]

[He shakes his head at her, looking more amused than anything else now.] You've got a complicated love life, pet. [He's got no idea where that puts his chances with her.]

I didn't used to. I didn't used to have one at all.

[bigbad]

Does seem to happen like that. [Or so he assumes. He hasn't been having much luck on that front, probably because he's fallen for someone who doesn't care for him in the same way.]

[slay]

Mmm. [ beat. ] What about you, have you had any ... special someones? Dates? Proposals of marriage?

[bigbad]

[He shakes his head.] Nothing serious. [He's got feelings for Buffy, but she doesn't share them. That's the end of his love story.]

[slay]

Guess none of us are really cut out for serious, huh? What with all the moving and working.

[bigbad]

Yeah. Makes it harder. Unless it's, you know, in-team dating or something. [He puts it out casually, but he sure is interested in seeing how she takes the idea.]

[slay]

You know, I did kinda think Kat and Gar had something for a while. But, I'm pretty sure Kat's just off the market altogether right now.

[bigbad]

[That sobers him up. He nods, looking grim.]

Can't really blame her for that.

[slay]

Yeah. Makes me wish I'd thought twice about nagging her about it before.

[bigbad]

You didn't know, pet. Nor could you have.

Guess not. Just makes me wish I had a little more of that Myri intuition, you know? She's way better at getting a read on people. Me, I'm just ... pushy.

[bigbad]

Sometimes bluntness is what's needed. You're very good at being that person. [A beat.] Kat is too. It's not a bad thing.

[slay]

Mm. Pretty sure most of the time, blunt's just a nice way of saying another b-word.

[bigbad]

No one who knows you could call you that. [Spike certainly hasn't... recently...]

I don't know about that. But ... nice of you to lie.

[It was a little bit a lie, maybe. He shrugs.] You're a good person, and a good friend. Doesn't matter what b-words they try and pin to you.

[slay]

Well, as long as you think so. [ she smiles, inclining her head a little. ] It means a lot, coming from you, 'cause you're ... well, you're kind of the best one I've got. [ if this were an anime, spike would be getting crushed with an oversized hammer labeled friendzone. ]

[bigbad]

[Aww that is... sweet and does it mean he shouldn't keep trying to get in her pants? They're very nice pants!

...it's probably a good thing. Compared to back when she was punching him all the time anyway. Maybe. She's sexy when she's beating him up.

He grins back at her and reaches over to squeeze her shoulder.] Believe me, it's mutual. [But with a bigger helping of wanting to bone on his side than is probably appropriate for a friend.]
