[Ahh the daily commute. Same thing, every day, aside, of course, from getting a chance to glimpse some of the stranger faces walking in the city: half-dragons, gnomes and gnolls, elves and halflings... Some of which would be strange even to denizens of fairy tale land.

But today's commute is about to get a little bit more interesting. There's the sound of a great deal of angry honking several blocks away, which grows and swells, apparently coming from a multitude of sources. As it gets closer, other instruments join the symphony: squealing tires, shouting, screaming, and the definite sound of collisions - multiple collisions.

The driver in the lane in front of him is so busy looking in his rear view mirror that he doesn't even notice the light turn green. ]

I think so. [He calls back and takes his foot off the brake. Unfortunately, the nerves must be getting to him, because his performance leaves something to be desired (Drive 9). Some of the debris must have been laying just right to pop one of the tires. David does his best to keep control, but it's difficult.

[ that's definitely... a no. as the car swerves while passing the other automobile, fred has to grip the top of the car just to keep from sliding off, and barely manages to hold onto the pole... he makes an attempt to turn around quickly and jab at it the opposite way but he comes just shy of hitting the car. the other car attempts to ram the side of charming's but it can't get a read on the jerky vehicle. ]

[Adrenaline wins out and despite the rapidly deflating tire, David pulls the car around and heads straight for the demon vehicle (Drive 21).]

[ fred manages to wobbily get to his feet and grits his teeth ] One more time! [ this time the car careens exactly right, but again, Fred misses as they drive past it. but he's ready this time, and does some kind of extra-cool spinny move with the pole, bringing it down smashing straight into the hood, leaving a gigantic dent right down the middle.

the demonic car swerves wildly and then runs into the side of a parked and abandoned bus, pushing it a few yards and then coming to a steaming halt. ]

Yeah-eah! [David shouts from the driver's seat as the enemy car crashes itself and stops. He brakes slowly, bringing them to a halt a few feet away. He turns the car off and throws open the driver's door, jumping out and looking between the wreck and Fred.]

Did you see that?!

[...Yes, he probably did, but that's just... the only thing you can say in this situation.]

Not bad for a good day's work. [ he hops down, the pole clattering to the ground. he reaches out a hand to give a manly five/hand-clasp to charming. ] Thanks, man. That was definitely above and beyond good samaritan duty.

David. [His gaze darts between Fred and the screen, an awkward smile crossing his face.] Uh, hi.

David. [ he repeats triumphantly to hasmed. ] You shoulda seen this guy. Almost thinking of giving him the pitch.

Well, you seem to have a real natural hero streak. What are your feelings on Shadowkind?

From what I hear, I technically am one? Wasn't born here, just showed up about six months ago with no clue how or why. As far as I can tell, anyone who comes through the Veil doesn't exactly have a choice, so I can't hold it against them for being here.

...Unless I really hated myself, I guess.
