The "afterparty" is rumored to be the real main event of the night. A black-tie affair in the lavish, opulent ballroom, it is every new Knight's chance to mingle and meet some of their new brothers in arms. Of course, a couple hours are provided following the ceremony for everyone to change, do hair and makeup, and choose from the vast array of formal attire in the closets of the balcony "dressing rooms" located at the top of spiraled staircases on either side of the ballroom. A separate dressing room exists for men and women, and they include full bathrooms (with, thankfully, very modern plumbing).

The squires are usually among the last to arrive, and the ballroom is full to the brim with a fancy array of people, of all shapes, sizes and species.

Hope you aren't shy. They're all here to meet you.

Feel free to make your own open threads for people to come congratulate your newly pledged knight.

ooc; also if your Knight wants to get all gussied up, you can make a Disguise (Cha) check for how good they were at hair/makeup/stylin', etc! This goes for... any time.

It's weird. I know I came through the Veil from another world, but after all these months, this is the first thing to feel... right.

But maybe that car just knocked a few screws loose when it was running me over.

Cut the guy some slack, Fred. [Because he is impossibly comfortable with his Knight already. No fucks given.] I'm guessing the welcome wagon doesn't try to mow everyone else over.

He can take it. [ he grinds his fist playfully into mark's shoulder ] And I'd say it's a good sign that your first reaction to something like that was 'hey! sign me up!'

I figure any group that supports car jousting is one I want to be apart of.

Fred here decided he'd be better off on the roof of the car while I was behind the wheel.

Well, I figured it'd have the advantage in ramming, and taking that thing out with a sword on foot seemed like a one way ticket to roadkill-ville.

It all worked out in the end. Even if your uh... friend wasn't too thrilled that I helped out.

Hasmed's sort of old school so he worries about the way information spreads these days. Tries to keep a tight lid on the whole secret identity part of the Knights, that's all.

I can get that, now that I know better.

But it's not exactly low key stuff. I mean, everyone on the street could see that something was going on.

Well, monsters and mayhem happen everywhere, thanks to the Veil. And it's not completely out of the ordinary for some people to play hero. They just don't need to know it's an organized effort on our part.

You guys must have some pretty nasty enemies to want to stay so far from the limelight.

You don't get to be an international force for good without making enemies of lots of big bad ne'er-do-wells.

You've got a point there.

Not to mention it helps us circumvent a lot of nasty laws that civilians have to worry about.

And the unfortunate reality is that in a way we're soldiers. And when we have bad people trying to kill us or innocents, sometimes lethal force is the only way to stop 'em to protect the Knights who need protecting. Helps us avoid all the legal crap that goes with that, since most countries recognize us as a global military force.

[He thinks about that one. Certainly his first encounter had been an easy enough decision in that regard, since it wasn't a living creature, but a animated car that was antagonizing them, but had a person been behind the wheel? The threat would have been no less real. Would he have done anything different?]

It sounds like you've got it all figured out.

[ fred claps him on the shoulder ] Well, the Knights have been at it for centuries. I'd say they've had time to work out the kinks.

Centuries? Wow. [When you can only remember six months of your own existence, imagining that amount of time is kind of daunting.]
