The "afterparty" is rumored to be the real main event of the night. A black-tie affair in the lavish, opulent ballroom, it is every new Knight's chance to mingle and meet some of their new brothers in arms. Of course, a couple hours are provided following the ceremony for everyone to change, do hair and makeup, and choose from the vast array of formal attire in the closets of the balcony "dressing rooms" located at the top of spiraled staircases on either side of the ballroom. A separate dressing room exists for men and women, and they include full bathrooms (with, thankfully, very modern plumbing).

The squires are usually among the last to arrive, and the ballroom is full to the brim with a fancy array of people, of all shapes, sizes and species.

Hope you aren't shy. They're all here to meet you.

Feel free to make your own open threads for people to come congratulate your newly pledged knight.

ooc; also if your Knight wants to get all gussied up, you can make a Disguise (Cha) check for how good they were at hair/makeup/stylin', etc! This goes for... any time.

[He's very still, listening to her and taking in what she's saying. He has no idea who this woman is, or why the hell she thinks he's Prince Charming, but he believes her... or at least that she truly believes what she's saying.

And he can't help but feel like he should help her look for this woman, this supposed wife of his.]

We'll find her. [The words come out before he realizes the weight of them.] I mean... I'll help. If I can.

[ the abrupt decisiveness of it gives emma pause. david, the david she'd known, was a good guy who made a lot of bad choices. but for him to be so willing, so ready to find someone he didn't even remember on the word of a girl claiming to be his daughter ... ]

[ she had to admire that kind of faith. ]

[He reaches out and puts a hand on her arm.]

I don't remember anything from before I came through the Veil. You learn pretty fast how to trust your instincts when it comes to meeting new people.

I trust you. What you're saying sounds unbelievable, but... so does a lot of stuff lately. Maybe we're both here for a reason. Maybe we're supposed to find her.

You really believe in all that "everything happens for a reason" crap?

[ she can't help but wonder if that's david nolan or charming or neither. ]

[Not that he appreciates you calling his offer to help find your mom 'crap,' young lady B| ]

I mean, we both fell through a Veil into a world we don't belong in, yet we both ended up here. Separately.

Which probably has just as much to do with us being related and sharing genes and habits in common than any kind of fate.

Unless I have a lot more kids than I knew about, I'm pretty sure we're not one big happy family here.

I doubt genes have anything to do with it. But maybe I'm wrong. If I am, then your mom should be here too. And we'll find her.

We can hope. That's the idea, anyway. [ she tucks her hands into her pockets. ] How long have you been here?

Around six months, I think. Give or take. What about you?

Couple weeks.

I guess that rules out a 'same time, same place' theory for how we got here, huh?

Also the fact that we weren't in the same time or place. I was back in our world. The fairytale one, with Mary-Margaret.

[He gives her a smile, but this is starting to make his head hurt.]

I'm probably not helping that. I'm working off secondhand information, doesn't make me the best to provide explanation.

Secondhand from who? [God he's too curious about this whole thing now, but he realizes it and waves the question off.]

That's not important, I guess. If we're both here now then we'll just have to figure it out together.

[ it's sad. she hadn't known he was her father, or even had him in her life for long at all before going to the other world with mary-margaret, but seeing him here, now, all she wants is a hug from her dad.

she can't bring herself to take one, though. her own boundaries are validated by feeling like she'd be overstepping his. so, she tucks her hands in her back pockets and nods. ]

We can handle it. And ... I'll explain. Sometime. [ she glanced back over her shoulder. ] Right now, I think we've got a party to get back to.

[uncease]

[He nods, disappointed to not spend more time figuring this out. But honestly, he's getting a headache, so it's probably for the best. So, like the true gentleman that he is, he gestures down the hallway that will take them back to the party.]

[ she gives a thing smile, then moves to head in and rejoin the party. ]
