Months ago, Finnick learned from Burt Becksworth about a number of construction projects Chad had contracted on the building. At the time of discovering the occult room, it was assumed the construction was to create the secret areas behind the auditorium, however, Kat's finally managed to hack into NOVA financial records and trace the contracts down.

It seems there was another, much more expensive, project, adding restructuring to the locked off basement level, to which there is no access through the public elevators. Schematics show that there is one accessible elevator shaft that goes to the lobby, which requires a key to activate the lower floor. Thomas considers it a better bet, however, to use the nearby quarry underground entrance through which construction trucks used to reach the site. Thomas will be leading a team through the underground tunnel in hopes of finding a space large enough to host the 'experiments' that Chad and company were afraid of the Knights discovering while nosing around the building.

Meanwhile, Jack wishes to discover if there are any remaining 'relics' in the building, and if so, to confiscate or document them. The heightened security within the building has made access much more problematic, and its taken awhile for him to acquire the security protocols necessary to be able to create a looped camera feed. Now that's everything's in place, he'll be infiltrating the building to override the cams, allowing Buffy, Elena, and Rafael to join him on the fourteenth floor for one last sweep of the occult room.

The situation has also grown more complicated in other ways since eavesdropping on Chad's cabal. In a gutsy move, Burt Becksworth has created an inescapable situation for Rafael and Finnick, forcing them to comply in preparing for an album and tour, lest they destroy their own reputations and become infamous in the business for backing out of their 'contracts' and letting down legion of NOVA fans. Finnick is an ideal situation to try and discover more about Burt's plans, however, and perhaps to find out incidental information concerning Chad's "Back the Fans" tour.

[ they manage to slowly roll it over, and gar tries to hit the top off with the end of her gun, but that's not working so well. (str check or melee attack of 14+ will get it off :O ) ]

There's still a chance we could have triggered security to arrive ... and that they might make it before Thomas gets back around.

[OK FINE ARDEN I'LL NEVER MENTION HOW LITTLE DAMAGE SPIKE TOOK AGAIN. Spike winces and rubs his shoulder because that hurt as much as when the tentacle monster did it.]

Just don't know why you bother with guns, seeing as you can apparently throw a punch.

[ that's what you get. but no really, that's just... kat. ]

Because when the bad guys all have guns, it's stupid to expect to run into a battlefield and punch them all to death.

[ she pushes up her sleeve away from all the gross icky slime on her forearm ] Ugh. Also this.

[ muttered: ] Can't wait til I can just throw fireballs.

[bigbad]

It works well enough for me.

[And then he gives her the most (unsure) look ever and steps away towards the barrel because KAT WITH FIREBALLS THAT SOUNDS WORSE THAN KAT WITH GUNS] Remind me not to go on missions with you when that happens. [And he pops that thing off like it's no big deal (str check 17).]

[Elena steps back to allow Spike his chance at the barrel, grateful when it pops off easily.]

So what, we just...douse the leftover 'giblets' with this stuff and we should be alright?

Won't know til we try. [ buffy's recovered and headed over to supervise this barrel fuckery. ] Personally, I'm still hoping we don't stick around long enough to find out. I prefer the version of this where Thomas doesn't take an hour to get here.

I would say all we can hope for is that it buys us some time, at least. [ together they roll the barrel over enough to pour the chemical onto the floor. it sloshes through the mixture of zombie guts, and as it begins diluting the liquid, a pungent smell is released as well. fort save to not want to HURL. it's nasty. ]

I can't be the only one who doesn't like the idea of leaving this place standing, period.

[Des doesn't fuck up his fort save (16), but he's only got 2 HP right now as he starts healing, so he's still pretty weak. He plants his hands on his knees and exhales.] We stick around here any longer and we're fucked. I don't know about any of you, but I don't wanna end up in one of those tanks, myself. We stick to the original plan.

[He limps over to retrieve his gun.] We can blow 'em to hell later.

[Elena manages not to hurl her guts out as well (fort save: 15), though her face still twists as she covers up her mouth and nose.]

Should we look for another way out? Or did you guys already do that?

[She asks as she looks around the room a little more closely for a way out or anything useful. (search: 17)]

[ fort save 22 means buffy just grimaces through the horrible smell. she heads over to the door that's on lock down, rapping her knuckles on it. ]

Or maybe try the hit it til it works approach.

[ NO NEED because who should appear at the other side but le Thomas! who slams his hand on the button and the door swings open. ]

Bet you barely had time to miss me.

[slay]

Your definition of barely is a stretch. [ it's said grumpily, and she steps out the door past him. ] Let's just get out of here.

[romanticidal]

Si, let us waste no time. [ he starts out too, but pauses long enough to lay a hand on thomas' sleeve ] But what of Sir Chessing?

[bancroft]

He made it out. Although Anderson saw the hidden room upstairs, which means Iscariot will know what's going on here. It's likely that he'll be forced to return and report, given the unseen variables of his mission here. Encountering us, for example.

Either way, Jack will live. Which I would like to say for the rest of you, as well. [ he eyes desmond, not noticing the healing going on under his goo streaked clothes ] Which of you needs aid the most?

Buffy and Raf were both injured upstairs, but he's probably hurt the worst I think.

[She gestures to Des, not knowing that he's healing either.

She lights up when she hears that Jack is alive, letting out a relieved breath, before:]

Do you think Anderson will come after us?

[nothingsodivine]

Not it. [Says the guy who looks like he's gonna fall over. He points at Buffy and Rafael.] Go for Blondie and Fluffy. I'll be fine.

[slay]

Rafael. [ she nods to him. ] He took the worst of it. I'll be fine. [ by now she's realized that she tends to recover from pretty bad injuries pretty quickly on her own. ] Did Jack manage to get anything out of the room?

[bancroft]

[ rafael looks ready to protest, but thomas simply slaps a palm to his forehead, emitting a glowing light. and then he looks INSTANTLY ALL BETTER. ] According to Jack, everything that wasn't decorative seems to have been removed. They're a step ahead of us there. [ he looks back towards the lab ] But at least now we have a better idea of what kind of nightmares they're cooking up.

[bigbad]

[SPIKE DIDN'T THROW UP SEVERAL TAGS AGO IF ANYONE WAS WONDERING. And now he's hovering over Buffy again looking worried.]

Buffy, you're not doing great either.

[slay]

I'm fine. Really, I'm - [ she turns to glance at him. there's a beat of hesitation. ] ... Fine. [ spike's creepy investment in her wellbeing is a real turn-on ok. it's a hold-over from angel. the heaviness of her pause is actually pretty awkward though so someone might want to change the subject. she glances down and away from spike, evasive. ]

[ rafael certainly catches that exchange, and if anything, he looks even more chagrined at having been the one to have been healed. he looks ready to say something, then looks at them again, and seems to change his mind, pushing ahead. ] When Myri returns, perhaps she can help the rest of us.
