[ The last mission was something of a mixed bag: while Thomas' team successfully infiltrated the underground levels, discovering the truth about Chad & company's diabolical experiments grafting human DNA into Shadowkind in an attempt to make their human mind control technology work on Shadow, the team searching for the relics ran afoul of Iscariot agent, Alexander Anderson. The deadly regenerator was there to kill Rafael, but Jack held him off long enough for the others to escape. Meanwhile, Finnick and Myri learned some interesting information about the state of affairs at NOVA Records...

This log covers any work and non-work related shenanigans the Knights have while staying in New Orleans, immediately following the last log and extending over the next week. This will be the Knight's last week in New Orleans before they return to the castle for the holidays / do some other filler things so we can catch up to the rest of the world chronologically. (except for characters who have IC reasons not to).

Make your own threads, don't fuss about tag order, feel free to threadjack multiple people into one thread for hang-outs, ask me if you want a certain scene with an NPC, etc. forever whatever. There will be a few group scenes, which I'll alert everyone to on Plurk. They may not all be posted immediately, so keep an eye on this post for new threads as time goes by. ]

[She steps closer, cautiously. It's Mark, so she's not scared, but... still not the most stable human right now.]

It's just this [ gritted teeth ] stupid machine.

Myri looks at the machine, quite used to them now that she's been at hotels for so long.]

Did you bring enough money? I have some, I think...

[nosdacariad]

[ he seems to be telling the truth about the machine frustrating him, at least. but it does seem very bizarre for mark to be losing his temper at all, since she's never seen him this way. ]

It's not that, it just got ... stuck, that's all.

[witchwoman]

[She closes the distance between them and examines the machine, noticing his snack choice stuck a few inches above the door flap.]

My hands are smaller. Maybe I could... [She crouches down and slips her hand up, bending her wrist and elbow as she tries to grab the bag (dex check 20 total).

As her fingers try to grip the foil, she looks up at him.]

Nearly there...

[ mark's eyes widen as myri snakes her hand up there like fucking mr. fantastic ] That's amazing!

[witchwoman]

[She finally gets a corner of the bag trapped between her fingers and tugs (Strength check 10). The bag comes loose and she untwists her arm from the machine.]

Thanks, Myri. [ he takes it gingerly ] Sorry about the uh, anger issue.

[witchwoman]

[She turns and leans against the vending machine, clasping her hands in front of her.]

Mark. [She tries to catch his gaze.] What's wrong? Really.

[nosdacariad]

[ hes i t a tion ] ... I just have a bad feeling about this whole Talisman situation, I guess.

[witchwoman]

[Her own expression shifts immediately. She's suddenly aware of how public this conversation is.]

I'm worry too. It seems too easy, after all this. [And then there's conversations she wasn't meant to hear. No matter how much she tries to put them out of her mind, she wonders if they might come into play sooner than any of them would expect.]

Too easy? The Talisman being on Andres?

[witchwoman]

I suppose I didn't expect the location to be so... clear. After all the bouncing back and forth between Chicago and New Orleans, now the answer is... [She stops and shakes her head.] Perhaps I have the luxury of ignorance. This Andres does not instill fear or worry in me as I know it does the rest of you. I only worry that for all the danger it presents, the fact that we were told so plainly that the Talisman would be there... could it not be a trap?

[nosdacariad]

[ he looks a little pale - or nauseous at that ] ... All the more reason they won't be sending us, huh. [ a beat and he looks anxious, glancing around. ] Jack and Thomas are sure to think about that... aren't they?

[witchwoman]

They're trained to think of things that we wouldn't. But... even so, perhaps we should talk to them. Just to be certain.

[nosdacariad]

Or maybe... you should. You're better at uh, expressing... yourself.

[witchwoman]

I'd prefer if you could go with me, though. It's nice to show that I'm not the only one concerned about these things.

[Sometimes she feels like the crazy person, always paranoid and nervous about things.]

[nosdacariad]

I'm sure one of the ... girls would go with you.

[witchwoman]

[She frowns.]

Mark, did I do something to upset you?

[Whoops. Someone is taking your deflection personally.]

[nosdacariad]

N-no, it's not that. It's not you. I just... I really don't want to talk to them about this kind of thing. I-I'm sorry, Myri. [ he pulls away, slipping past her ] Really... sorry.

[witchwoman]

Mark... wait. [But she doesn't chase after him that hard. She's torn between being concerned for his evasiveness and understanding that sometimes you just need space and privacy. She has lived a life of evasive behavior, so it isn't like she can fault him for it.]

[nosdacariad]

We'll talk later. [ it's rushed and apologetic, but he doesn't look back over his shoulder either ]
