[ The last mission was something of a mixed bag: while Thomas' team successfully infiltrated the underground levels, discovering the truth about Chad & company's diabolical experiments grafting human DNA into Shadowkind in an attempt to make their human mind control technology work on Shadow, the team searching for the relics ran afoul of Iscariot agent, Alexander Anderson. The deadly regenerator was there to kill Rafael, but Jack held him off long enough for the others to escape. Meanwhile, Finnick and Myri learned some interesting information about the state of affairs at NOVA Records...

This log covers any work and non-work related shenanigans the Knights have while staying in New Orleans, immediately following the last log and extending over the next week. This will be the Knight's last week in New Orleans before they return to the castle for the holidays / do some other filler things so we can catch up to the rest of the world chronologically. (except for characters who have IC reasons not to).

Make your own threads, don't fuss about tag order, feel free to threadjack multiple people into one thread for hang-outs, ask me if you want a certain scene with an NPC, etc. forever whatever. There will be a few group scenes, which I'll alert everyone to on Plurk. They may not all be posted immediately, so keep an eye on this post for new threads as time goes by. ]

[ someone else came in partway through this conversation. and here she stands in the archway to the living room, looking smug ] I wouldn't be so fast to make that call, Desmond. We've got some juicy information that I'm sure you're all dying to hear, which just so happens to have to do with this little fairytale of yours. [ over her shoulder, she says: ] Mark, darling, why don't you come tell them what you told me?

[ mark, who was hovering behind her, steps forward hesitantly. his expression is somewhat grim as he looks at her, then the others, then squares his jaw. ]

... We found out where the Talisman is.

It's Des- [ANNND HE STOPS.]

Dumage went out with Blade tonight and I wanted to make sure she was alright, so I followed her. And got a chance to spy on Dimitris making a phone call.

He's going back to Andres, and they've transported the talisman there. He promised to keep it guarded until 'the necessary time'. It must have been one of the relics they were talking about carting out.

[bigbad]

[Spike glowers at Mark, but that... actually seems useful so he doesn't say anything specifically to him.]

So how hard would it be to steal it back?

[slay]

Judging by the kind of people they've got working for them? My money's on very very. But, I don't think we have much choice other than to try. Besides. [ she looks to finnick and rafael. ] Some of us have to stick around here - they can make sure the worst of them stay here, and give us a heads up if they don't. [ namely the mind master, of course. ] Between all of us, I don't see how we could fail now that we know where it is. Not with the right recon.

We aren't trying anything. [ thomas' tone is dark, and all srs business ] There's something else about Sarandis you should know. He knows who and what we are, of the existence of the Knighthood, Wynn, all of it. And he's made it quite clear in the past that he won't stand for our 'meddling' on his island, and that any Knights of the Silver Dragon found there will be executed without trial.

[ jack starts rubbing furiously at his temple as if this were just the worst headache ever ] That's why I couldn't take you along on my undercover mission, Buffy. I'd been tracking Dimitris' movements, gathering intelligence on the situation on Andres for Wynn. It was an incredibly dangerous position, and he's made it clear that no regular Knights will be sent to the country for the time being. [ he looks to thomas ] Most likely, the parameters of the mission are about to shift. But that's not a call we can make on our own.

[ straightening up, he announces: ] We'll be returning to England within the week, so that Wynn can re-evaluate the course of action we should take. This is about more than just the Talisman now, and it's likely that Thomas and I will be parting company with the rest of you once more.

[ he looks to buffy ] Buffy is right, after all, that the worst members of this conspiracy seem to be centered here in America, and it's essential that we discover what their plot is. [ and to finnick: ] Which is why I think Sir Odair should maintain his placement. If he thinks it will be too suspect to leave now, we can relay his orders to him after we have received them.

[amused] You don't have to talk at me like that, you know. I'm sitting right here. [but then amusement time is over. he shrugs his shoulders, not too bothered by this suggestion. mostly because he knew it was coming.] Anyway, Burt wasn't too keen on my last English holiday. It's probably better to stay here.

[romanticidal]

[ rafael's been awfully quiet during all this. and seems a little off. but now he speaks up, from his place against the wall. ] And I will be here as well. Isabella will be joining me, in case Iscariot should return.

Good. I think I'll be needing you around.

[romanticidal]

Why is that?

[Meanwhile, Des has cornered Jack and Thomas to lower his voice at them.]

You're forgetting one of us is off your books. I ain't a Knight and don't plan on being anytime soon. [He frowns.] Talk to Wynn, but he knows damn well I've got in a stake in this and I'm still one of your best shots at getting close. Don't get me wrong, boys- the times have been great, but I got into this mess because of that Talisman.

[bancroft]

Obviously we can't make up your mind for you. But we would ask you to wait until we know what course of action we're taking to go traipsing in there yourself. Not to mention we've no idea how long this leg of the mission will draw us away, and you're part of the cover Finnick's been maintaining here.

[slay]

I don't like it.

[ buffy had been lost deep in thought, but she suddenly announces this. she doesn't seem to have realized she said it, because she looks up as surprised as anyone that it came out. ]

I just mean ... Going back to England. Now that we finally know where the Talisman is, we should be going there. We always knew this job was gonna be risky. Heck, I think most of us realize we're not gonna die at a ripe old age surrounded by fat grandchildren and ten cats now that we're doing it.

[ still, even as she says it, she deflates a little. because at the end of the day, jack makes a good point -- wynn knows the situation of both missions as well as any of them, and he's probably removed enough to decide what's the best course. ]

If things are that bad, really, I don't ... I don't feel right, just sitting in the castle, doing nothing.

[nothingsodivine]

I just wanna be included when it all goes down, buddy. [Cheeky grin.] I've got enough to keep me busy around here while you guys are playing Stratego at the Round Table. You wouldn't believe the crap I had to do to get in with some contacts around here.

[He turns to Buffy.] Not all of you can survive going in half-cocked, Blondie. You almost lost Jackie Boy here.

[dragonsclaw]

[ jack's face sets in a grim line at des' comment ] He's right. Andres is a particularly dangerous place, and Dimitris is a much more intelligent enemy than you might at first believe.

[ he adds, after a beat: ] At least one Dragon's Claw disappeared in the course of trying to look into his affairs. Presumed killed in action.

[witchwoman]

Part of our work includes reporting back to Wynn. [At least this time they weren't being told how terrible they were? At least this time they'd have progress to report... She glances to both Thomas and Jack, not fond of either of them going off to this dangerous place alone, but knowing she has no right to say that.]

We aren't done here. The religious group at NOVA must be dealt with. And these experiments... we cannot let them go on. For all we know, talk of the Talisman's location was meant to draw people away from this place.

[finnick replies to rafael now that their conversation has become more of an aside:] For some reason Burt is convinced I can play matchmaker between you and Jade. He wants her as part of our tour.

[romanticidal]

[ raf's eyes go wide for just a moment before narrowing suspiciously ] Now Burt Becksworth wants her too? And why should I want to bring her anywhere near NOVA Records?

[casually] He thinks that she's talented enough to make the tour a success, saving the company from his brother. At least, that's what I got out of it.

Saving it? Why's the company need saving? I thought they were partners. Partners who hate each other's guts but still partners.

That's the thing. Chad's not all too interested in being partners anymore.

Great. This is exactly the kind of measuring contest we need piled on top of everything else in this case giving me a headache.

Burt seemed quite adamant that his brother should not be given control of the company. Is it possible that he knows about his brother's dealings?

Perhaps we should give thought to informing him that we're not simply interested in furthering the careers of a few musicians?
