[ The last mission was something of a mixed bag: while Thomas' team successfully infiltrated the underground levels, discovering the truth about Chad & company's diabolical experiments grafting human DNA into Shadowkind in an attempt to make their human mind control technology work on Shadow, the team searching for the relics ran afoul of Iscariot agent, Alexander Anderson. The deadly regenerator was there to kill Rafael, but Jack held him off long enough for the others to escape. Meanwhile, Finnick and Myri learned some interesting information about the state of affairs at NOVA Records...

This log covers any work and non-work related shenanigans the Knights have while staying in New Orleans, immediately following the last log and extending over the next week. This will be the Knight's last week in New Orleans before they return to the castle for the holidays / do some other filler things so we can catch up to the rest of the world chronologically. (except for characters who have IC reasons not to).

Make your own threads, don't fuss about tag order, feel free to threadjack multiple people into one thread for hang-outs, ask me if you want a certain scene with an NPC, etc. forever whatever. There will be a few group scenes, which I'll alert everyone to on Plurk. They may not all be posted immediately, so keep an eye on this post for new threads as time goes by. ]

[ she gives a loud, hissed shout at the pain and jerks back, hands covering her wounds in reflex, but it's not really helpful because the burny acid is already on them and oww. she grimaces, shakes her head, bites through it. son of a. ]

That's what you call gentle?

[bigbad]

Sorry! I don't usually do this. [Well... at least it's pretty damn cleaned now. He hopes.] Here, let me... [He puts down the burny acid stuff and grabs the bandages and at least with this part, he's more careful (treat injuries 19). He presses the pad to her shoulder with the perfect amount of pressure and tapes it down.] How's that feel? Better?

[slay]

Much. [ she moves her hand away to let him press the pad more easily, and though there's a tiny cringe, it's much calmer. she looks up to meet his eyes, watching him carefully. ] You ever wish you were better at this part? You know. Instead of the other stuff?

[bigbad]

Well, right now it might be nice. [He gives her a little smile. He dabs more antibiotic stuff on a cloth this time and uses it to clean her other wound, actually gently this time (treat injury 19 again aww yeah). It probably still stings, but not nearly as much.]

But for the most part? I like doing what I do. Healing people like Myri does or creating magic wifi like Kat might be nice, but it's not me. [He winds the bandage around Buffy's stomach, and I'm keeping the treat injuries roll from before (treat injury 23) and manages to do a pretty damn perfect job.]

Think that about does it.

[ she watches him quietly while he works, holding her breath as he leans in closer to wind the bandage around her back, drawing him all too close to her body. she gulps, looking up when that happens. she straightens as he finishes, looking back down and examining the bandages. pretty damn well done. she rests a hand over the ones on her stomach. ]

Thank you. [ not just for the bandaging. she thinks about his words. about how conflicted she's been - it'd be nice, but it's not him. it's not her, either. that doesn't mean she likes it. maybe she'd like for 'her' to be different. a skill that doesn't involve nearly killing people. ]

[bigbad]

Yeah, no problem. [He nods, glancing away again, and sits on the bed next to her.] Sorry about spilling on you.

[slay]

Hazard of the inexperienced. It's okay. [ she gives him a small smile, but scoots over as he sits down. away from him. ]

[bigbad]

[He leans back a bit and glances up thoughtfully.] Assuming I am inexperienced. Maybe I did this all the time before I came here.

[slay]

Still nothing, huh? [ a beat. ] From before, I mean.

[bigbad]

Besides Passions? [He shook his head.] Nothing. [He glanced over at her, quirking an eyebrow.] You?

[slay]

Just the dreams. [ she shakes her head, expression grim. she looks away from him. ] Jack and I are going to see what we can find out about it, and the demon stuff. After Chicago.

[bigbad]

Yeah? [He gives her a bit of a smile, even though she's looking away. Maybe it's easier to do since she's not looking.] Well, that's something. What'll you do?

[slay]

There's this organization. They're called Hellsing. We think, whatever I am, it's got something to do with demons, and Hellsing hunts them. If anyone knows something ... it's them. [ she nods. she's putting all of her bets on this. it's got to pay off, somehow. ]

[bigbad]

[He hopes it does, for her sake. And because he'd like to know more about the demons.] Think they know anything about vampires?

[slay]

Probably. Want me to ask? [ she looks back over at him. ]

[bigbad]

If you have a chance. Might be nice to know a bit more. [He's sort of playing it by ear here...] But your stuff's more important. I know what I am, at least.

[slay]

I know what I am. [ it's said sharply. ] I'm human.

[bigbad]

[He raises a hand appeasingly.] Not what I meant, love. I know you're human. But you're tough enough to throw me through a wall. I meant.... why.

[slay]

Can't throw everything into a wall. [ her hands go to the bandages. ] Father Anderson. I've never ... Nothing we've fought is that powerful. Nothing. He was like ... like a machine. A really evil machine, that quotes Bible verses.

[bigbad]

Hey. [He reaches for her hand, pulling it away from her bandages.] We'll be prepared next time. Might be powerful, but he's not undefeatable. You're the strongest person I know, and I don't just mean your wall throwing abilities.

[slay]

[ she stills at that, watching him. she doesn't move her hand out of his. it presses the right buttons. her conversation the night after the meeting is still fresh in her mind, weighing on her. strong in ways that aren't killing people. that's good. actually appreciated. that's better. ]

Spike ... [ her expression is unreadable. ] You're in love with me, aren't you?

[bigbad]

[He looks taken aback at the question. Is he in love with her? He's tried not to think about it. She doesn't want him in the same way. He looks away, letting go of her hand. If he doesn't say anything it's not a bluff check, right?

Too bad the answer's all over his face.]

[slay]

Spike.

[ her tone is soft but imploring. she needs him to say it. right now, she needs it more than anything. ]

[bigbad]

[He lets out a sigh.] Yeah. [He glances over at her, expression sad.] Completely over the moon, for you, love. I can't help it. You're amazing.

[slay]

[ his words don't completely reach her, like she's somewhere else as she contemplates them. she hears what he's saying, but they don't pierce the deepest part of her like they ought to. she watches him, still stunned by the fact that he's saying them, because she can't remember anyone else ever saying something like that to her - and meaning it.

right now, it's all she wants. to know that someone feels that way about her.

she watches him for a moment, silence spanning the gap between them. her gaze flickers from his eyes to his mouth in blatant consideration. then, slowly, she leans forward to kiss him. one hand moves to the back of his neck to pull him in. ]
