[ The last mission was something of a mixed bag: while Thomas' team successfully infiltrated the underground levels, discovering the truth about Chad & company's diabolical experiments grafting human DNA into Shadowkind in an attempt to make their human mind control technology work on Shadow, the team searching for the relics ran afoul of Iscariot agent, Alexander Anderson. The deadly regenerator was there to kill Rafael, but Jack held him off long enough for the others to escape. Meanwhile, Finnick and Myri learned some interesting information about the state of affairs at NOVA Records...

This log covers any work and non-work related shenanigans the Knights have while staying in New Orleans, immediately following the last log and extending over the next week. This will be the Knight's last week in New Orleans before they return to the castle for the holidays / do some other filler things so we can catch up to the rest of the world chronologically. (except for characters who have IC reasons not to).

Make your own threads, don't fuss about tag order, feel free to threadjack multiple people into one thread for hang-outs, ask me if you want a certain scene with an NPC, etc. forever whatever. There will be a few group scenes, which I'll alert everyone to on Plurk. They may not all be posted immediately, so keep an eye on this post for new threads as time goes by. ]

Over me? it exploded all over us all! I don't see you all splotchy and gross.

[ the look of disgust finally manages to creep under her skin now that she's more than just alarmed that he's there beside her and awake. it coils in a place of discomfort in the back of her mind, because it's not the first look she'd like to wake up to after what they'd done. the whole reason she'd been with him was that he'd cared for her, looked at her the way that - and now, this.

she propels herself out of the bed with a hard shove off the mattress, hastily grabbing pyjama pants to pull on. she wrestles herself into the shirt, facing away from him. ]

Just - Just get out.

[bigbad]

I'm undead. Maybe I'm immune.

[But his look softens and he reaches over to try and comfort her.] Buffy, pet, we've got to ask Kat or someone about this. It's a bit beyond my bandaging abilities.

[slay]

We? [ she turns and steps away before he can try and touch her. ] This isn't a we. [ a 'we' doesn't exist between them. her remarks are scathing and harsher than needed, but she's hurt and confused and lashing out. ]

You did this to me. I was - I was fine after that fight. I've been fine for days, why would I just now - All that's changed is ... [ she glances past him at the bed, discomfort welling up in the back of her throat. she swallows the lump and looks back up to meet his gaze, her own burning. ] I'll deal with this.

[bigbad]

[That hurts. Spike jerks backwards a little, looking as though she's punched him in the gut.] Buffy... love... you can't think... I'd never hurt you. Whatever this is, it can't be me. Please, let me help.

[And don't just kick him out after the best night of his life. That he can remember, anyway.]

Don't you think you've helped enough?

[ one arm hugs herself around her chest, the other raises to rub the side of her neck, all discomfort in her own skin. she glances away, fidgeting. she draws her hand away like she's repulsed by her own touch finally. ] Just ... Go. And if you even think about telling someone about this - [ her tone raised in warning as she finally looked back at him. the last thing she needed was to hear it from the whole team because she'd made the bad call to sleep with a vampire ]

[bigbad]

[This is... so much worse than seeing her mottled skin first thing.]

Buffy... I love you. I thought... I thought last night... [He thought it meant something, that she was acknowledging her feelings too, that this meant they could keep seeing each other, be lovers. Whatever. He didn't think it would end like this.

Admittedly, no one would have seen the gross death rash coming. But the rest, too.]

I think the big purple splotches do a good job of telling us both what a mistake last night was.

[ she wrestles a cardigan on to cover up the marks on her arms. ]

[bigbad]

The big purple splotches have nothing to do with that! Buffy, if you care about me at all, please, don't do this.

[slay]

I want to deal with this alone. I don't know how much clearer I can get.

[ her heart tugs in her chest, but she can't help being horrified - at herself, at the situation, at the way it hurts to reject him. this is wrong. she never should have let it get to this point. never should have slept with a vampire in the first place. ]

[bigbad]

[Spike stares at her for another second, then reaches for his trousers without a word. He starts getting dressed silently, not looking at her.]

[slay]

[ she can't shake the feeling she's fucked things up in a way that she can't undo. like she's done something terrible to someone she loves. but, she doesn't say anything to stop it - not only because she chooses not to, but also because she can't imagine what she could say to make it better. she swallows, straightens up, and turns her face away from him, pulling the cardigan up more to better mask the skin showing near her clavicle, in case there's a similar look of disease there.

he's right about one thing, at least. she should talk to kat. the last thing she wants is to worry myri with it, or get into the hows and whys. kat knew about vampires, maybe she knew how this could happen. and maybe ... buffy could humble herself to admit what she'd done and ask. ]
