Sparring ☢ Enough to make my systems blow
WHO || Dimitri Belikov & Rose Hathaway [closed]
WHAT || A little hand to hand combat and some discoveries.
WHERE || Castle | Second Floor | Training Room
WHEN || Friday Mid-Morning, March 8th
HOW || Action Spam
[Not for the first time this week, Rose can be found in the training room, far more at home here than anywhere else in the Castle. She remains almost oblivious to the people who have been coming and going by now and as she has been every day this week, she is training alone, fully aware that her nature makes finding a suitable sparring partner nearly impossible.]

Because you weren't going to be given a fair trial. Because you didn't do it. Because they were going to kill you.
[All true answers, but they both knew there was more to it than that.
But some small part of his was hesitant to say it, because it would sound crazy, as if the rest of it hadn't been insane enough.
How could he be in love with a girl he didn't remember?]
no subject
Well... Thanks for saving my life then. Even if I don't remember it.
[Maybe she knew it, maybe deep down she knew it had to be more than that but without anything solid, without being able to remember him clearly? It was all just impressions, emotions, nothing she could really cling to.]
no subject
He knew perfectly well that this girl was also many years younger than him, but that didn't seem to matter either. What exactly had their relationship been like?]
I wouldn't have been able to do it alone.
[He was avoiding. Maybe they both were. Almost every time she'd spoken it had been like he knew what she was thinking. But now? He only thought he must be crazy to think that that was disappointment he saw in her eyes.
He had to fight back the urge to reach out and grab her hand again.]

[She thought about that for a moment, about what those words could mean and when she lifted her head this time, she'd schooled the Rose Hathaway mask into place.]
I mean really when you think about it... Maybe you were just doing it for somebody else.
[Though, that didn't make any sense, not to her and she suspected, sure as hell not to him but it was the kind of lie that you could use as a shield.]
And you just drew the short straw of having to come with me.
[A tight, barely believable grin pulling at her lips, all show and no emotion to it.]
I guess we'll never know.

His expression was briefly confused before he schooled it into an equally apathetic mask.]
That seems unlikely, don't you think?
[Breaking someone out of prison was a big deal. And consider what he thought about her, he couldn't imagine that was true.]
But you're right. It's possible we'll never know for sure.
no subject
[That tight, emotionless grin still trying to force her lips to curve up rather than down. He was right. It probably was unlikely and yet a part of her almost found it easier to believe it because if it wasn't something like that, then it meant this feeling she had just being around him? It meant that it was real.]
So... So now what? I mean okay, so we know each other or whatever. It's not like we actually know each other. I mean you didn't even know my name a week ago.
[Where did you go from something like this? Were they just, friends now or was it like starting from scratch, and how could they do that when at least from Rose's part, there were all these feelings that she just didn't know what to do with.]
no subject
Forgetting each other seems almost unforgivable, though at the same time, it hadn't been their fault, had it?]
We...continue as we have been. That seems to be the best route, doesn't it?
[Talk. Spar. See how things unfolded. What else were they supposed to do?]
no subject
A second later she schooled her expression to neutral, nodding in agreement.]
Sure. Makes, perfect sense.
[Except that it didn't, not in her heart but her head was able to comprehend it.]
We'll just carry on like, everything is exactly the same.
[She couldn't even say that line without wanting to laugh at how ridiculous it sounded.]
no subject
If you have a better plan, by all means share it with me.
[Because, frankly, he didn't see much in the way of other ideas. The things he wanted to do weren't...appropriate given their actual relationship.
Like the fact that he'd wanted to kiss her the moment he'd first entered this room. No, perhaps the first moment he'd seen her.]
no subject
No no. You're plan's perfect. We'll just carry on like absolutely nothing has changed and see how that works out for us.
[Dammit. She was being irrational and childish and she knew it, she just couldn't seem to stop the words from coming out of her mouth, Rose clenching and unclenching her fists.]
no subject
[They couldn't rush into something. Not given the duties they'd just agreed to. Focus was needed, and not toward emotions that may or may not be real.
Even if he was certain that they were.]
no subject
Fine. Whatever.
[Which even without knowing her, was clearly the code for - she was done, Rose running her fingers back through her hair as she let out a huff of frustration.]
No pushing it is.
[She sure did just give him a lazy salute.]
Now if it's okay with you, I need a shower.
[And an ice bath. Maybe a hot bath then an ice bath then another hot bath. She was going to have bruises on her body to match her ego and pride.]
no subject
By all means. That's exactly what I intend to do.
[No, that's not an invitation.]
no subject
[She stared at him for another long, hard moment, as if waiting or hoping he was going to stop her or give her something more to work with.
When it didn't come she gave a dismissive wave, bent to gather her towel and water bowl and strode out of the room and off towards the showers.]
Later, Comrade.
