It's that time again. New squires would have heard the word come 'round that there would be open weapons orientation this Monday - which is also open to anyone who just wants to come spar with the newbies as well. As before, at the top of the main staircase is the entrance to an incredibly spacious room, that has gym and weight training equipment on the wall near the door, and then lots of old school training dummies and more at the far end. A glass door enters into a firing range, and another pair of large doors on the farthest wall lead to the armory.

Sir Luthir stands off to one side, all impassive elf, armored in his light, beautifully worked metal, and carrying a sword. Red-headed Sir Ironsides hefts an axe over his shoulder and offers a boisterous greeting to those approaching, and Fred helps round people up to the middle of the room.

Some of the squires' mentor Knights will have accompanied them - others will have left them to their own devices. Everyone's welcome to tag into threads or make their own!

[He pulls the silver stake from inside his jacket pocket, flips it around so that the man can take and look at it.]

I would be willing to learn how to use something at long-range as well. I can understand why it would be helpful at times.

[After perusing the selection, David settles on a nice longsword. He's testing the weight of it, shifting his grip as he heads towards the training facilities when he hears a voice nearby. Glancing up, his smile comes quickly.]

[ at 6'5", fred almost measures up, and he approaches with a leisurely swing of the large sword in his hand, that attests to his easy strength. ]

You sound like a man who's done this before.

If I were trying to butter ye up, I'd craft ye a better one myself. But it's a solid weapon, all th' same.

If you've have training in appropriate usage of firearms, to acquire a license, perhaps, we can skip the lecture.

[ he notices b/c he's got eyes like a fox, and comes wandering her way once the others are busied ] Did you need assistance, Sir Zacharov?

[ he draws a light crossbow off the rack and hands it to her. it takes two hands to fire, crits on a 19&20 and does 1d8 damage on hitting. ] S'bit difficult to conceal, but there are ways around that, since it'd fit easy in a case of some kind. Bit more discreet.

[ yeah, that bluff will not work out so well when beside you, emma is pulling a concealed carry permit for maine from her wallet and handing it over to luthir. because when people get formal training, they get proof of it, hook. ]

[She gingerly takes the crossbow, her fingers examining the working parts. Though she doesn't actually remember when she needed to use it, she can tell how it works, and it seems familiar enough.]

This will definitely work. [He was right, though, concealing it during certain kinds of situations would be hard.] I'll probably try and learn how to properly fire a gun, for times when I need something smaller.

[ he takes the card, looks it over and hands it back with a nod, before turning to merely hold his hand out to hook

I want to get certified for field use. I don't have proof of training or, whatever. [Especially since she's 17 and that's illegal!]

David. [He says, laughing as he tries to catch up.]

You're quite the bundle of energy, aren't you? [He looks at her sword, then his own.] I've never really done this before. [Not that he can remember anyway.]

[Andie shrugs, grinning.] Runs in the family. And I mean literally. [Instead of explaining, she lifts her sword, putting it in a ready position.] It's cool, I'm actually a diplomat. We can teach each other!

[ he gives it a few expert swings, testing the balance and grip, before handing it back, looking satisfied ] Quite a weapon! Any idea who forged it?

Still don't like the things me-self, but I can see the benefits, I suppose. Plenty o' time for ye to practice up, at least.

[ hook you literally said "i did not receive any training" two minutes ago, that kind of pokes a giant hole in your bluff attempts, you know... ]

They offered firearms licenses where you came from?
