Not just today: all week, dear. The Festival of the Pride. [ if she rolls a knowledge (theology) of 15+ you can google it + forgotten realms, OTHERWISE NO PEEKIN ]

Do you have a preference? [She shoves her book to the side and, you know, pays attention.]

You've done our garden a great service, surely. The winters here are so dreary.

[She seems to be searching her memory for any sort of stray detail about the festival but nothing comes to mind.] And this festival means something special to you? [There's a tenderness to her curiosity, like she wants it to mean something to her too, if he's so excited about it.]

Except, regrettably, for the bit about taking this time to choose out a mate. [ he tosses her a merry wink ] Sorry to disappoint there.

[She smiles a little wider.] Which of the celebrations do you partake in? We can walk and talk, if you'd like. You seem to be headed somewhere.

[ he nods across the hall ] Just to the chapel, dear. Doing my ancestral duty, all that. You're welcome to join me.

After that, it's drinking and feasting and dancing and frolicking wherever I can find it. [ a pause ] Not that different from every day, but I've a better excuse for it.

[socialgraces]

[The chapel huh...? Well, she'll only hesitate a moment before nodding.] Are you sure you don't mind if I join you? I wouldn't want to upset any prayer or meditation or whatever it is you're going to be doing.

[unhand]

[Wow, that is pretty lame. I mean... tragic. Poor, bleeding sod. Unfortunately, Hook wasn't paying enough attention when someone taught him about phones (computer use 5). He picks it up, stares at the buttons in confusion, then shoves it at Faye.]

[He moves around the desk to hover unhelpfully over the bloodied knight.]

I like to call it "my yearly rite of driving Solace up the wall."

I don't see why this is even necessary. If I don't answer it, won't they give up on their own?

[Faye rolls her eyes before snatching the phone out of Hook's hand. No one needs to tell a teenager how a phone works. She dials the extension for that wing]

Hi, holy rollers? Yeah, we've got an issue down in the lobby. Can you send someone down? Oh and bring some towels.... y'know... for the blood.

[Lila reaches out blindly and snatches a key from the rack. She is able to do this because she's been staring at it for a couple hours. It's her car. The one she had at home.

She holds it out for him, dangling on her finger.]

BMW, heated seats, luxury sports car. The lighter sticks.

[That seems to have worked out nicely. Maybe people will realize HOOK IS NOT GOOD FOR PHONE DUTY now.] Knew you'd be good at that.

Knew I could count on you. [ he throws open the doors and strides in to the chapel grandly. it's organized with one end available for services, and then a number of various statues and holy symbols around the walls on the other side. at the moment, the place is entirely empty. ]

The Festival of the Pride is one of the only two celebrations of Nobanion. One for mating time in the spring... and one to celebrate the newborns nine months later.

But it's about more than just making babes, of course.

It's about celebrating life. And the strength of the community.

No problemo, I'm like the patron saint of spring. [And then she bumps her fist against her chest a couple times and throws up a peace sign because she is the classiest of classy broads.]

Oh, you're adorable. No. No. People are stupid, they'll sit on hold for two hours if someone tells them to. That's why you have to give them a reason not to call back.

[Violet has found herself lost in the woods, which is easy when you have the directional aptitude of a cantelope. Since the cantelope has never managed to escape her fruit salad she's pretty sure it sucks at directions.

And sentience, but now you're just splitting hairs.

She's about to say fuck it and build herself a house -- she's not lost if she lives there -- when it's all hooves and horses and a sword taller than she is. Well, shit.]
