[ abruptly a laptop case is dropped on the desk in front of her loudly, and when she looks up, zero's hovering ] Glad to see people enjoying their work.

[Ahhh! And her pen goes streaking right across the page, ripping right through it. (Crit fail, a very critical fail.)]

...The librarian is going to kill me. [She glaces up with a scowly pout that turns into a fake smile soon enough.] I love it. How can I help you today, Sir?

Do you have a preference? [She shoves her book to the side and, you know, pays attention.]

[Lila reaches out blindly and snatches a key from the rack. She is able to do this because she's been staring at it for a couple hours. It's her car. The one she had at home.

She holds it out for him, dangling on her finger.]

BMW, heated seats, luxury sports car. The lighter sticks.

[ he snatches up the key and picks up the laptop case, glancing around ] One more thing.

Don't put this one in the logbook.

[Girl. Lila don't play that. If she's going to do something bad, there's going to be a reason.

It doesn't have to be a very big reason, granted.]

[Most nonchalant shrug. Deliberately slides the log book towards her and uncaps a pen.]

Yeah, nothing smarter than pissing off the guy you rely on to make sure your exploding pens in the field work right. Good call. Definitely worth making some kind of petulant statement.

I thought so. See when I signed up for this, they made me promise not to lie. [Pen to paper.] Of course, if you took me with you, I wouldn't have time to write anything down.

[ nice try, gurl. gonna have to roll a diplomacy check for that shit. ] It ain't lying if nobody asks.

[Diplomacy check of 30.] There's this wonderful thing called a lie of omission.

[ HE HATES YOU LILA ] And another wonderful thing called minding your own damn business, but apparently no one's heard of that one anymore. [ ugh whatever ] If you come, I'm not responsible for anything that happens to you. And who's gonna finish out your shift? You don't think it's not gonna look suspicious for you to jump ship in the middle of duty?

[GLEE.

She scribbles a note that reads "Back in Five" and hits the phone to turn the ringer off so her absence it not just really super obvious. (Int 19 or IDEK escape artist 24?) The pen gets shoved in her ponytail and she all but leaps around the desk.]

Emergency cigarette break, I only have a half hour left.

And what exactly is my guarantee that you're not going to use anything you learn for attempted blackmail purposes, since you're obviously not above it?

[bittersweeter]

Because blackmailing you would get myself in trouble, insomuch as admitting I bailed on my shift and effectively ran away from home?

If you've got any electronic devices, though, leave 'em here. All of 'em. I don't care if it's a digital watch.

[Well, seeing as Lila's watch is a Movado and very non-digital and her phone was in her car and thus not on her person, she's pretty electronic free. She holds up her hands like surrender.]
