I haven't seen her. And, since I'm guessing you were bright enough to have already checked her room and the training room, I don't think that's an accident. Your squire's playing hooky.

She's not even answering her phone.

She's bound to show up sooner or later. Might be a day off won't hurt either of you.

That's not the point. We had an appointment.

And she's not showing. I think it's time to accept your appointment's not happening.

Some day she's going to have to learn responsibility if she ever wants to be accepted as a full member here.

How's that work, anyway? You think if she's not punctual and responsible enough, they'll dump her on the curb?

That's kind of self-involved, isn't it? Let's stick with your theory - which, might I add, is morbid. If she goes out there and dies, you didn't kill her. She died because she chose to play hooky instead of showing up to training. How the hell are her choices on you?

Yeah, well your job doesn't extend to forcing her to be interested in that. She makes her own choices. If she fucks up, it's because of them.

It's called being a good teacher.

A good teacher wouldn't be sitting here talking to me instead of finding someone who wants to learn. If Lila doesn't, that's her choice. You don't get to make them for her, and you don't get to change her mind. She has to do that.

It's the responsibility granted to me when I was made her mentor.

You really struggle with the "you can't make her choices for her" concept, don't you?

I struggle with the idea of giving up on the thought that I can be a good influence on her.

Influence only goes so far.
