[Once he recognizes her through the dirt, David smiles at the sight of Vi.]

Hey! Huh? Oh... yeah, I guess not.

It seems to be common enough. [Okay, so she leans very delicately against the desk, trying to make the least amount of mess. She fails, but not badly! TEN POINTS!]

Do you not like being rude to people? [She can see that, actually. The whole charming bit.]

It's more the lying thing. I'm... not a big fan of it.

[Also, he can't ignore it any more.] So... what happened to you?

It's not everybody's cup of tea.

[She looks down at herself, mock affronted. Gosh.] I was gardening. It got kind of out of control.

[His eyebrows shoot up.]

That's some green thumb you've got there. If that's "kind of out of control," I'd hate to see what it looks like when you really lose it.

Mud usually, not just dirt. [She grins, a little sheepish.] I'm a nature girl, can't help it.

Hey, get it in while you can. From what I hear about the way this whole thing works, we'll be getting shipped out to who knows where for some missions before long.

[He doesn't have details, but ever since it was explained to him, he's been waiting for it.]

Yeah, but that sounds fun. Way better than eight hours of hanging up on people.

[Fuck it, she pushes herself onto the edge of the desk. She'll clean it up, gosh. She's gonna hang out, deal.] How did you run into the knights?

[He doesn't seem bothered by her getting mud on the counter. He just likes the company.]

Fred tried to hijack my car, so I just offered to drive him around. Turns out they were chasing down some demon car that was trying to hurt people in town.

What about you?

[He offered to drive him around... How in the actual hell did he survive to adulthood?]

I killed a monster with a train. [It's okay if you're not impressed, David, because she's impressed with herself enough for the both of them.] They sort of stumbled into me after. And then Luthir and I tag teamed another one and it was super hot.

[What crush? Shut up.]

With a train? Wow. [No, he's impressed. Also he's skipping the part of his story where he got run over by the demon car because that is not impressive and only embarrassing.]

I guess whoever ends up on a mission with you is in good hands, huh?

Well. [She shrugs.] If there is a train around we're all golden. If I have to talk to anyone? We're all gonna die. So I feel like my skills even out my lack thereof.

What about you, any hitherto unmentioned skills of awesome?

Fingers crossed for missions near railroads- got it. [He laughs a little.] I don't mind talking to people. [He's kind of... well, charming. So it comes easy to him.]

I'm not really sure. My driving wasn't half bad during the whole demon car thing? And I'm pretty good with a sword, apparently.

Sword? Really? [She's a little surprised] I should have known you'd like the classics.

You knew more than me, then. I've never handled one before... not that I can remember anyway, but I was practicing with Andie and... well, that's just say it got out of hand.

[graveflowers]

You sort of have that dashing vibe, like one of the Three Musketeers. I dunno, anyway, back to the topic at hand: what happened? Andie's wicked fast.

[And Vi was busy having a close personal connection with Dovan over swords so she didn't notice anyone being shanked or what have you.]

She and I were sparring, nothing too dangerous, but... I guess I didn't realize my own strength? [He winces.] I knocked her out cold. I still feel horrible about it.

You. Knocked Andie out.

[Violet just dissolves into laughter. Which is rude, probably, and she tries to pull herself together, but the face he made was just too precious and she can see him doing it and then flailing.

She reaches out and pats his arm fondly, managing to control her giggles.] She's pretty cool, I'm sure she doesn't hold it against you.

It's not funny! [Okay it's a little funny, but he does feel terrible.] She's fine now. I just... I had no idea it would that easy to knock someone out.

Don't know your own strength then? You can test it on me, if you want.

[She may look tiny and breakable but... she is tiny and breakable. The tiny about spring is that it's kind of delicate, something that reflects itself in Violet's very tiny frame.

But give her a sword... and it's a whole different ballgame.]

[He laughs, because that sounds like the opposite of what he wants.]

I think I'll be training alone for a little while... No sparring until I'm sure I won't accidentally kill someone.

Or you could spar with some one bigger than me and Andie combined. Or both of us at the same time!

Maybe. [It really shook him up, okay] Or maybe you two could spar and I could watch.

[Yeeeeeah, Charming, that doesn't sound good. But Vi only smirks and raises her eyebrows slightly.]

I doubt either of us have the same style as you, since we're not the same body type. [i.e. David isn't tiny.] But you know, that could come in handy.

She's also got that whole... speed thing. [He says, remembering how damn fast she was, getting some hits in before he could even register that she had moved.]
