[ Although he seemed to be present at David's squiring ceremony, his mentor knight has made himself scarce since. Eventually, however, Sir Ironsides the dwarf would take it upon himself to inform David that Sir Wellington is waiting for his squire to come to him, and let him in on the fact that Lan doesn't live in the castle at all, but rather out back. In a cabin in the woods.

[Yeah, no, David is not that lucky (5). He has a good sense of direction, normally, but that's usually when he has an idea of where he's going. In this case, he definitely doesn't.

So he'll wander for a good long while until he finds a nice tree to take out his frustration on.
