brazil ♔ even just a sound and all your cards are down

WHO
|| Belle, Luthir, Koraith, Violet, Robin, Reynard [closed]
WHAT || Settling into the mission HQ
WHERE || The Atlantic rainforest of Brazil
WHEN || April 5th (superbackdating go)
HOW || Actionspam

The Knight's plane touches down outside of the forest perimeter, as there's no accessible clearing anywhere close enough to the site that's not choked with machinery responsible for... making more clearings. And landing on top of them all might be dramatic, but perhaps not the subtle touch this mission calls for.

They disembark and head out through the rainforest in a little buggy, until they can't drive much further without being entirely conspicuous, so they pull it over and get out, about a ten minute walk from the site.

Koraith turns to them, his massive form annoyed by fronds brushing against his head, which he's forced to repeatedly brush back.

"Well! I suppose this is as good a place as any to suggest splitting up. In some ways, our problem is three-fold: we must stop the machines as soon as possible, contact the dryads to make certain they know help has arrived and don't escalate things prematurely, and, of course, speak to the foreman."

All right, before we get close enough to risk getting noticed... Any bright ideas?

[ Because while he might have suggested it, this really isn't Rob's field of expertise, and Reynard did say sabotage is at the top of his resume so might as well let the guy take the lead here. ]
smugfox: let's steal some geese (fox - Rexnard the Fox)

My idea would have been to wait for nightfall, but apparently knights work by day. Probably to avoid confusion and puns.

[Reynard rubbed the back of his neck, thoughtful for a few moments, then he looked around himself, other senses as active as his eyes.]

I think, for now, I'll try to get a closer look. Enough creatures here that I should hardly be noted.

[With that he started to walk toward the machines, shifting into the form of a fox mid-step after just a few seconds and without a pause. Moving quicker past the trees now, he made his way toward the machines now, ducking through the underbrush and stopping when he managed to take a good position to inspect the machines.]

[ Well... that was unexpected. Robin files the fact that his partner on this mission turns into a fox at the drop of a hat away for further consideration later and leans against a tree to wait for Reynard's return. ]
smugfox: he never looks that orderly (fox - so handsome)

[personal profile] smugfox 2013-05-02 10:42 am (UTC)(link)
[Shifting into a fox wasn't the most impressive ability, on a larger scale and it became even less useful in potential when everyone and their mother knew about this. But with Robin it had been unavoidable, teamed up like they were.

Reynard had no trouble coming close, barely even noticeable as he stayed close to the trees. He ducked closer to one of the machines not in movement, to get a sense about how to enable them.

This really would be easier if they did it after dark.]
smugfox: aha... (let me think about it)

[personal profile] smugfox 2013-05-09 02:22 pm (UTC)(link)
[He actually manages to roll a 14, but, well, he can't even drive a car, much less operate heavy machinery. He's fairly confident in his ability to wreck stuff even without knowing how precisely it works.

So he takes what knowledge he can gain and returns to Robin, shifting back once he's by the man's side.]

This would really be easiest if we waited until they stopped for the day. Is that an option?
faeconman: (white shirt)

[personal profile] faeconman 2013-05-19 12:53 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Robin nods a little in agreement. ]

It's an option until we get caught. We should find somewhere to wait it out that is still close enough to keep some sort of track of what they're doing.
smugfox: teenaged (windy)

[personal profile] smugfox 2013-05-27 11:10 pm (UTC)(link)
[Reynard turns around to look back over his shoulder.]

How much closer do you reckon you could venture without getting caught? I'm not sure what talents you're hiding, but I'm afraid I've shown you just about all of my cards by now.

My skills lie more in... shall we call it conversational camouflage.

[ Nevertheless he starts moving towards the machines. ]

But the only way of finding out how close I can go is to try it. If we get caught, we'll just have to think fast and talk faster.
smugfox: hmmmm (on to something)

[personal profile] smugfox 2013-05-31 04:02 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, so we do have something in common. Does make me wonder why we both ended up with the task involving the least talking.

[He walks next to Robin and shrugs, paying attention to their surroundings but also noting how his shoulder brushed Robin's.]

I have a feeling we can both think and talk more than fast enough, so I won't worry.
faeconman: (nnnggghh reading)

[personal profile] faeconman 2013-06-02 11:44 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Robin noticed too, which is why he's taking care to make sure it doesn't happen again. ]

Perhaps they saw hidden depths in us that we are as of yet unaware of ourselves. [ Said with dry humor. ]

And I did suggest this course of action so it does sort of make sense to give me the task.
smugfox: aha... (let me think about it)

[personal profile] smugfox 2013-06-06 07:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Sure, but based on that logic I should be tasked with taking your shirt off.

[He makes sure his voice sounds light enough. Just a joke, he can get a hint after all and this isn't really the time to push boundaries.]
faeconman: (Beautiful grin)

[personal profile] faeconman 2013-06-12 01:26 am (UTC)(link)
[ That actually gets a quiet chuckle, because hey, it's a fair point. ]

If you think it'll sway the people cutting down the trees, sure.
smugfox: aha... (let me think about it)

I don't know them well enough to say for sure, alas. Though I guarantee that it'd at least stop them for a moment. Maybe two. I don't know, I'd need to gather more intelligence before making such an estimation.
