The Knight's plane touches down outside of the forest perimeter, as there's no accessible clearing anywhere close enough to the site that's not choked with machinery responsible for... making more clearings. And landing on top of them all might be dramatic, but perhaps not the subtle touch this mission calls for.

They disembark and head out through the rainforest in a little buggy, until they can't drive much further without being entirely conspicuous, so they pull it over and get out, about a ten minute walk from the site.

Koraith turns to them, his massive form annoyed by fronds brushing against his head, which he's forced to repeatedly brush back.

"Well! I suppose this is as good a place as any to suggest splitting up. In some ways, our problem is three-fold: we must stop the machines as soon as possible, contact the dryads to make certain they know help has arrived and don't escalate things prematurely, and, of course, speak to the foreman."

Can I punch him in the face first or would that be slightly counter productive to our goal?

[ he actually can't even stop the sly smile that spreads up his cheek, and doesn't even try hard ] It might set us back a bit in terms of negotiations, but forward somewhat in satisfaction.

[She sighs, melodramatically, and seems to perk up just slightly at his smile.] I will take one for the team and refrain, but I'm gonna need to punch something before we go.

[luthir]

Well, if necessary, I may have to volunteer.

That's sweet, sort of, but I don't think I could actually ever hit you. [Her tiny smile is apologetic.]

[luthir]

Well, I'd hate to recommend you abuse any of our other teammates instead.

[graveflowers]

I was thinking more like a punching bag, or a pillow. But now I think we have to go to Carnivale because... I am going to have way too much frustrated energy soon.

[luthir]

I don't know that I'm familiar with... Carnivale.

[graveflowers]

It's like a week long party in Rio with parades and dancing and masks. And it might not actually be going on right now, but still. We should stop in Rio. Hot, sweaty dancing is almost as effective as punching someone, probably.

[luthir]

I usually do most of my dancing with a sword in hand.

Variety is the spice of life.

I'm not certain I know how to dance the way they would there.

Something I can readily believe. [ with a small smile, he says: ] We're allowed to stay here until the others contact us with word of how their progress is going.

So we're just gonna hang out here... Partying with the dryads, sipping nectar and sweet tea and making daisy chains...?

[There is something in her tone that sounds just a teeny bit like CALLED IT! You know, for the record.]

[ luthir crit failed his memory check so I GUESS HE COMPLETELY FORGETS SHE EVER SAID THAT and gives her a strange look for her giant grin ] ... It seems likely they'll keep us a bit busy for that.

[Whatever, she has the maybe of Carnivale to tide her over.]

Just tell me what to do, Capitan, and I'm there.

I think you seem to be finding practical ways to occupy yourself without my orders.

I kind of like orders, actually, stops me from getting distracted.

Hey, are you the one that is going to report back on me to Kat? 'cause if you could not mention the whole crying in the middle of a mission thing, that would be super.

[luthir]

[ there's a beat as he looks at her, and then he takes a step closer, lowering his gaze to meet hers very deliberately ] Feeling empathy for another living thing is never a weakness, Violet.

[She opens her mouth to retort that showing it is, but stops herself, mouth pressing into a confused line. Romans didn't show weakness, that is what got them killed -- or worse, their companions.

[ he sees that hesitance. ] We're more than soldiers. Compassion is an essential ingredient of what separates us from being cogs in a machine.

Yeah, okay, but there is a difference between compassion and sniffling all over the seedlings. Look at you.
