It's only a few hour plane ride from England to Italy, but the team has a little time to settle in and get to know each other and/or ask questions of Zee in preparation for meeting with her dad.

And of course, when they arrive, she takes the lead, bringing them through the streets of Florence, Italy at night and leading them around the door of a sold out theater advertisement for the Amazing Zatara.

[ emma drops into the seat beside him near the end of the flight. she's glancing across the aisle out the other window, then looks over at david beside her. ]

[He shakes his head, glad to have the distraction to be honest. It'll keep him from worrying about the water they're flying over.]

It's fine, I ... probably would have had to get used to calling him Charming anyway. [ she waves it off in a way that says that's the switch she'll make. ] So, where are you from?

[There's a deep breath as he tries to figure out the best way to answer that.]

I've been to Maine once. Maybe.

[he pauses]

I think my dad had a boat?

[he smirks.]

It's been a long time since I've seen my dad. It could be more of a case of out of sight, out of mind.

[though that's the question, isn't it? What is he naturally forgetting and what did the Veil take from him.]

I think not knowing if you've been to Maine is a little more than out of sight, out of mind.

[He frowns.]

Don't worry. You're in good company, from what I understand there's not a knight among us who didn't lose something to the Veil.

All of us came through the Veil? Or did they lose people going through it?

Memories, mostly. Or leaving the people we love and do remember behind.

Does it work both ways, though?

What do you mean? The Veil? No. Once you come here through it, there's no going back.

[generaldavideus]

I was thinking more people here falling through it the opposite way. Most portals between worlds aren't one way tickets.

Believe me, I know, but most portals between worlds also aren't pulling people by the thousands over for decades at a time. People have been here after getting pulled through the Veil for generations, you really think in all the time it's just that nobody's been able to ... reverse the polarity?

[generaldavideus]

Depends on how it's made, how much they know. Who controls it. Things can't always be puzzled out.

And I think there have been enough people puzzling it since this started that if there were a way, they'd have found it - magic or otherwise. But, no one's ever heard of someone going back through the Veil.

[He nods slowly, leaning back in his chair.]

Must suck for this world.

That's the real world for you. It usually does.
