The "afterparty" is rumored to be the real main event of the night. A black-tie affair in the lavish, opulent ballroom, it is every new Knight's chance to mingle and meet some of their new brothers in arms. Of course, a couple hours are provided following the ceremony for everyone to change, do hair and makeup, and choose from the vast array of formal attire in the closets of the balcony "dressing rooms" located at the top of spiraled staircases on either side of the ballroom. A separate dressing room exists for men and women, and they include full bathrooms (with, thankfully, very modern plumbing).

The squires are usually among the last to arrive, and the ballroom is full to the brim with a fancy array of people, of all shapes, sizes and species.

Hope you aren't shy. They're all here to meet you.

Feel free to make your own open threads for people to come congratulate your newly pledged knight.

ooc; also if your Knight wants to get all gussied up, you can make a Disguise (Cha) check for how good they were at hair/makeup/stylin', etc! This goes for... any time.

[Welp, boys, here's your first chance to be alone and manly together and meet your fellow male squires without... being in front of hundreds of people together. [ always looking swank and untouchable, the unsettlingly tall leader of the knighthood watches over the celebration with a pleased look in his eyes.

the dragon's claws are back in town for a short pit stop, and right now they're both standing with him, deep in discussion. sir jack chessing is rocking a james bond tuxedo, whereas sir thomas bancroft wears his customary ratty long black coat that seems to have seen many, many better days from the number of cuts, marks, rips, tears and what look like claw marks in the leather. ]

[ standing out in an orange dress, a 5'3" blonde girl entering the dance floor puts a hand on her hip and pulls a face without ever dropping her smile. ] Ok, this is the exact same playlist they played at my after party. Somebody's gotta teach Wynn the joys of modern music. And if nobody else is gonna do it, guess this is happening. [ she deposits her still half full drink on a passing tray and starts digging in her little purse ]

[ it's impossible to look away from the glamorous, willowy woman gliding through the crowd. she wears a small gentle smile that splits easily into a breathtaking grin as she nods a greeting at those who seem to recognize her, although any arrivals to the castle in the last year or two wouldn't know her face. a spot check of 14+ might recognize that there's an inhuman quality to the golden shade of her hair and the brightness of her eyes. ]

[ Pardon, ladyfolk, but Dawn is going to sulk a bit here. The ceremony is over and she is shucking that armor off just as fast as she can (which... isn't that fast because it's armor), and is pretty much fixating on the fact that she fell over during the walk.

Whole awesome ceremony, and she's focusing on that. Yeah.

She's not really moving toward the hair and makeup stuff, or even the dresses. Really, she's thinking about going back to her room. ]

[ So we're gonna skip forward here la la la and say whatever happened in the dressing room, Dawn's convinced to get dressed and come party. Especially after finding the dress she's wearing tonight.

She really cleans up well (with a nat 20 disguise check, hold on to your socks, boys), opting to keep her hair and makeup simple. But it's enough to make her stand out, this time for a good reason. She winds her way through the room, not really looking for anyone in particular. Eventually she manages to snag a glass off one of the passing trays and stops to have her drink. ]

[Sydney, on the other hand, is looking through the dresses with a worried look on her face. She wants to find something muted and modest, and she's having trouble. Social situations are not her forte; even if she somehow manages not to make people hate her, she just feels so awkward the entire time.

Still, these are her new 'friends,' or so she's supposed to believe.]

This is so nervewracking.

Also anyone is free to notice the rather large golden lily that she has tattooed on her cheek.]

[Sydney manages to make herself look presentable, with a very average disguise check of 10. She actually likes her dress well enough, though the slit up the sides makes her feel a little more exposed than she'd like.

She's also awkwardly sticking near one of the walls and watching people, though her expression is friendly enough.]

[Ruvaen is giving the suits a skeptical look. He isn't particularly comfortable with opulence in general. A nice tunic and a pair of pants would have suited him just fine. The suit jacket he picks out does fit him, once he puts it on the right way at least, but he's wearing it over his tattered old turtleneck and pants. (Disguise 8)

The shoes he has on aren't very impressive either and he forgot to button the middle button of the jacket. Seriously, someone else should just take over for him. ]

[Ruvaen isn't shy, but he is neither particularly loud when it comes to meeting others. He'll gladly get into a conversation with anyone, he just isn't prone to starting them himself. Not without good reason.

Currently he is trying to locate Kyla, so he's being a bit less observant than usual. Apologies if he bumps into your character while trying to find the Bard. Someone has to keep an eye on that woman.

She is Trouble with a capital T and it tends to jump her whenever he isn't around.]

[ A disguise check of 10 leaves Kyla feeling like she could probably have found a more spectacular dress, but it doesn't bother her too much since she usually relies on personality and wit rather than her looks (even if she's pretty convinced that they help).

Her dress is a lovely blue color, but really far too modest for her usual tastes. Not nearly enough of her cleavage is showing! At least it's cut relatively low in the back but it's a small comfort.

The slit up one side could have been higher too.

Basically, she's looking presentable, and would have preferred to look scandalous.

She'll be circulating the room in search for entertainment, since she gets bored incredibly fast and isn't really used to being a guest. She's used to being the entertainment, which actually suits her better since then you get to command everyone's attention all at once.

Do come and say hello before she does something stupid to entertain herself. ]

She's actually looking almost respectable tonight, which is of course a source of mild chagrin to her as he can surely imagine.

She has of course found the snack table but actually abandons her quest to fill up on finger foods as soon as she spots him, picking up a breadstick to hold it under his chin like it's a very small and terribly ineffective sword.

What do you mean prone to dramatics. ]

[The dress looks nice on her. It is a shame he can't ever get her to dress this respectably any other time.

[ Not so much because she has a problem with the music being played and more because she enjoys small-scale rebellion. She's no barricade builder, preferring to declare her independence in ways that leave her alive when the metaphorical dust has settled. ]

[ So maybe it is a little heartwarming how much he believes in her, but that is not something she's planning on letting him know.

She can, however, smile at him. So she does. ]

[Felicity is fishing. None of the dresses available are striking her fancy quite yet, but she's out of the armor and flipping through the racks until she finds something she likes.

She eventually will, but she wants to at least try to do this right.]

[Felicity winds up looking not bad at all (disguise check: 15) -- just pretend that picture is brunette. Unlike David she will mix and mingle however she pleases, trying to get at least some face time with each of the knights if she can. She's social, and she has to work with these people so she might as well get to know them.
