There's nothing sinister whatsoever about Oak Street, as Christos steers the rented van onto the street and parks against a curb. Well watered and neatly trimmed lawns frame cheerful suburban houses, a paper boy rides past on a bike, a couple strolls by hand in hand eating dripping ice cream cones. Down the block, children are visible hooting and whooping as they swing from monkey bars on a small playground while mothers wait on benches and chat politely, happy to soak up the sun and get off their feet for a moment.

Christos frowns heavily through the window, as if the sight of all this contentedness is more unwelcome than an army of invading monsters would have been.

Solace speaks up first, from his place in the front passenger seat. "It may be prudent to split our group to cover more ground. At least one of the homes should be re-examined, and we ought to ask some of the locals for their take on the situation." He unbuckles his belt. "I mean to investigate the area for evil auras."

Christos nods, turning off the engine. "The sun will be down in an hour. I'll scout around the houses for access points. No point in breaking in before then."

[Tybalt gave a quick nod and slipped back over to the fence again, shifting into his feline form and jumping up to the top of it (Jump 18, cats don't need gravity's BS). He followed the fence line back to the house he had found earlier and glanced down at the yard. Keeping an eye out for signs of a dog before dropping down and approaching the dog door. They were coming, right?]

[ christos moves after him like a blur, surprisingly silent as he heads towards the fence, and scales it (with obviously a bit more difficulty than the cat...) ]

[ well, the good news is there's no dog in sight.

The not so great news is that parked just a couple feet from him on the rug is the fattest cat he has ever seen in his life. A yellow monstrosity, it looks like it could best up any dog who dared to wander into its neighborhood. And its immediate reaction to tybalts entrance is to bare it's claws and hiss like it has a slow leak. ]

[This is probably karmic retribution of some kind for refusing to aid his teammates, isn't it?

Tybalt tenses up, locking his good eye with the yellow monster, back arched as he lets out a low warning growl of his own. He has held his own against men a foot taller than him. Surely he can handle someone's housecat? Or maybe he'll just look for the nearest surface to jump onto. If things get tough he can always shift back and take the claws for the team.

Okay monster stray. Let's see what you've got. It might be bulk and brawn but Ty is quick and agile. That dexterity has to count for something doesn't it?]

Fay attempts to climb the fence instead of jumping over it, but she... finds this a worse idea than the last, because she rolled a 1. So she gets halfway up, slips, and falls back on her ass. Never ask her to do physical anything ever again. She walks around to the gate, which is probably locked, but even if it isn't her reaction is the same. She rears back a foot and slams it into the fence door, because this is fucking bullshit and fuck this fence (str 18).]

meanwhile, inside it's a CAT FIGHT. because the terrible tabby launches itself forward, shredding furiously with both claws (atk 22, atk nat 20) and almost sinks its teeth into him as well (bite atk 15). his claws do 3 total damage. it takes a 13 or higher to hit the kitty! some cat stats :O ]

[Damn, Faye. Not that Ty notices what's going on outside. He is busy having his tail handed to him by the angry stray. After a short recoil, Ty lunges in for a counter-attack.

He slashes at the cat with both claws (atk 17 + atk 19) and attempts to bite (atk 8) but can't get in close enough.

Come here kitty. Let Ty pay you back for that fucking nat 20 and 22. Vicious little bastard... maybe not so much the little.]

[ the cat was clearly not expecting so much spirit out of tybalt and lets out an annoyed yowl, scratching at him again, but trying too hard to maintain some distance as it tries to attack him further. (1 dmg) ]

[It can yowl all it wants. Tybalt jumps (16) at the wall to the cat's side, shoving off of it to hit the ground behind that monster tabby, a low, threatening growl in his throat as he goes in for another bite (nat 20).

If it thought it was going to bully him out of this house it has another thing going. The only thing worse than Tybalt's social skills is his stubborn streak and hurting or not he isn't letting a neighborhood pussy cat get in the way of his mission.]

[Meanwhile Faye strolls up to Christos, still looking just as mad at him as she was at the fence. Douchey elf asshole.]

[ as he heads to the back door, and draws out a lockpick, inside the cat rounds again on tybalt, undaunted by the fact that he's getting messed up, although again, it tries too hard to stay out of range of ty's teeth and claws to do more than claw and bite at the air in front of him ]
