Lis'sa meets the squires inside the laboratory, behind its "Biohazard" labelled doors. She doesn't really offer much of a greeting, or even introduce herself - just waits inside the strange multi-storied library section until everyone is gathered, and then instructs them to follow her up the steps. A great deal of models are suspended from the ceiling that look like space age designs for jet planes, cars, boats, and any number of other things. There are other objects that are much more inexplicable: a giant silver ball, suspended by several rods, for example.

There's another set of doors at the end of the balcony, and she swipes an access card through a reader besides them. They depress with a space age his. revealing a clean white laboratory, with rows and rows of tables and lab equipment set up. Numerous knights buzz around in white lab coats, working under microscopes and on computers, conferring over a number of projects.

"This way," she instructs simply, not sparing the lab a second glance, heading for a door on the left hand side of the room. She presses a hand against the panel there, and the red light changes to green, unlocking the door for everyone's access.

Beyond is a very long room, with rows of labelled cases and cabinets with transparent glass revealing what's inside. Lis'sa steps crisply to the other side of the large stainless steel table.

Once you get your head around it, it makes more sense than magic.

[She looks uncertain, but curious.]

May I-? [It's all very shiny and she just wants to touch a few of them...]

That's why they're there. Just please be cautious. I don't need any of you losing any fingers. The clerics are busy enough without having to grow them back.

[Myri nods and steps closer to the pile, picking up a bracelet with careful hands, examining it and trying to sort out what magic there is to unlock within.]

[And as her finger brushes over one end of it, the thing starts beeping. Lis'sa flashes a look in that direction.]

[The noise is unexpected and causes Myri to jump and lose her hold on the bracelet. She fumbles to try to catch it, but the shock makes her nervous and she grasps at the air for a second before finally dropping down and reaching out to snatch the bracelet before it hits the ground ~~Reflex 16?~~.]

[Annnd she catches it just in time. The beeping stops and there's a sudden burst of incredibly bright light. Good thing Riddick has those goggles on, I guess...]

[She shields her eyes from the harsh light. Once it's faded, she blinks and looks at the woman, confusion and embarrassment written all over her face.]

[The bright ass flash is still enough to hurt his eyes, even through the welders goggles. Good thing he'd put that wristwatch down, cuz that would've the second thing dropped.

He lets out a hoarse yell, his hands immediately going to his eyes as he tries to turn away from the light. He keeps his eyes closed for a few seconds longer than the others, trying to acclimate them again. His welders goggles aren't all that great. Maybe he could convince Lis'sa or someone to make him a better, gadgety pair. Either way, now he's pissed.]

Motherfucker! [Nice and succinct.]

[The words mean nothing to Myri, but the anger she understands. This is a very large man who is extremely upset with her actions. Anger: the universal language.]

I- I didn't mean to-

[She stammers, backing up slowly.]

[He lets out a long, growly breath, slowly turning around to face the small girl. Great, now he'd scared the little thing and she was looking at him like he was about to tear her head off. He was tired of that look and more tired that his lack of any manners was the cause. But damnit, that freaking hurt!

He shakes his head slowly, propping his goggles on his forehead to rub his eyes ~~Spot Check with a DC of 10 to notice something weird about his eyes~~ before placing his goggles more firmly back over them.]

Hey, s'alright. It wasn't like you were trying to burn my retina's out or anything, right? [And he is so so bad at trying to sound reassuring at all it more comes out as... grumpy and still all rumbly. At least he doesn't look like he's going to tear you a new one. He thinks. /Riddick fails with other people.]

[Lis'sa is just like 8| wat are you guys doing. But she'll just reach out to take that back now.] Light weaponry. Effective against vampires, especially.

[Vampires? Really? Vampires. He growls again, his head swinging around to look at Lis'sa.]

Guess it'd be a good idea to keep me off the missions where vampires are involved. They aren't the only one's affected.

What causes the light sensitivity? [wat is tact. she's just looking at him curiously]

[Myri remains silent through most of this interaction. Mostly because she hasn't the faintest clue what a vampire is, but also because she's not sure what she saw when the man removed his glasses ~~Spot check: 15~~ but she's certain that it wasn't natural.

She crosses her wrists and flaps her hands in an ancient ward against evil.]

[He grimaces slightly at the residual sting of the flashing light, then very carefully reaches up and takes the goggles off. He opens his eyes, being careful to focus on her face since that is one of the least reflective surfaces in the room. His eyes flash quickly as the lights hit them from several angles, but he seems okay after a few seconds.]

One of the first Slam's I was in was mostly kept in the dark. So I dug up a Doc and paid him 20 menthol Kools to do a shine job on my eyes. He cut through my cornea, then drilled through my eyes and injected a liquid that solidified into a reflective surface within my retinas.

[She leans closer, peering into his eyes with a very clinical expression on her face]

... Granting you nightvision.

[He allows her inspection, leaning down to allow her to see better as he retains eye-contact. The lights reflect and bounce in silvery-grey flashes from his eyes, giving them a very animalistic feel.

He glances towards Myri, allowing her to see as well, a small smirk on his face. See? He isn't so scary, right? :/]

Exactly. Now I can see who's trying to sneak up on me in the dark.

[After another moment of fear washes over her, curiosity gets the better of Myri. She steps closer, peering up at those interesting eyes.

What's there to fear in the unknown? How many people have turned her away simply because they did not understand the magic she worked? This was no different.

She doesn't speak at first, but she does step closer and the fear has left her expression for now.]

I'm sorry. [She says quietly] For the light.

You couldn't know. [It almost sounds like an apology for the girl. Almost. She leans back away from Riddick again, seeming satisfied]

Interesting procedure. I assume that means you didn't expect to ever leave those circumstances.

[He nods at her words, reaching up to put the goggles firmly back in place. His eyes remain focused on Lis'sa as he does, then he glances again to Myri.]

Don't sweat it, kid. It's already forgotten. [He looks back to Lis'sa again, weighing her statement. No reason to not be honest. He gives her another oh-so-casual shrug of his massive shoulder.]

Not quite. I was already working on how to get outta that Slam, but having the night vision helped a helluva lot. I've found it pretty damn useful ever since.

Some would find the light blindness a weakness. [It's not said to be insulting, but there's definitely the sense that she's saying it on purpose to challenge him.]

[He smirks at that, rising to the challenge gladly.]

Yeah, I'm sure some would. That's their problem. Me? I like to see what I'm doing in the dark. I do my best work then.

[There is very little doubt in the way that he says this what he means by that. You know, that it's much easier to be sneaky and... stuff at night. >.< Uh huh. ]

[is this guy srs right now. she sounds amused, at least] I'm sure most light amplified males think so.

[He tosses his head back at that quip and laughs heartily, the sound rumbling from deep down. Still grinning he looks back down to her, small chuckles still shaking his shoulders.]

I'm sure other guys think so, what with their inflated ego's. The difference between us is I know so.
