Sean's foray through the fog lands ends with the earth seeming to lurch beneath him. Hope he gets his sea legs quickly (and doesn't his sea sickness Fort save)... because it wouldn't take long for him to realize he was standing on the deck of a large wooden boat. Wooden hardly implies rickety, however, as this boat looks masterfully constructed, even lined with what appears to be gold in all the inlaid designs...

But he won't have very long to ruminate on the craftmanship of the place, before a deep gruff voice shouts: "Stowaway!"

The call is echoed from stern to prow, and from out of the rigging and cabins and from down below crawl a number of very short men with thick torsos and long arms, all heavily muscled and decked out in impressive heavy armor. Almost all of them sport impressively braided beards and mustachios, and a suspicious look in their eyes.

The Whosits now? [ she looks at him like he's drunk, as lan charges by in full armor behind her, roaring as he brings a broadsword down to chop off the hands of a pirate climbing over the railing ]

[He makes a really rugged and manly yelp at the hand choppage, before his arm stretches out to point at his boat.]

Killer dwarf pirates, really great beards. Brightfists. [They his peeps.]

[moonheart]

[ she follows his pointing with her eyes ] Oh, the dwarves! Wynn might've said their name but I kinda zoned... [ she flashes him a reassuring smile, and swats a piece of hair out of her face ] We're here to rescue them.

[imgonnadie]

Groovy. [Which is said completely devoid of irony and not skeevy at all like Charles okay.] That mean you're going to rescue me while you're at it?

[moonheart]

[ she laughs really gleefully at his word choice, and tosses him a wink ] Sure can. Sort of an equal opportunity rescuer. [ a few more have gotten on board and are sword fighting with fred jr. on the far end, and faith turns, and puts a hand to the side of her mouth yelling up: ] Better not be hogging all the fun, Fred!

[Since his entire goal in life is to make other people happy, he is aces right now with this girl. Which is why he barely glances from her to... anyone else. Although he does ask: ] Should we help?

[moonheart]

Well duh. Do you need a sword?

[imgonnadie]

I... don't think I know how to use one. [He is completely unashamed to admit that, he doesn't want to sword one of the good guys in the face because he is inept and didn't tell her.]

[moonheart]

[ she looks amused and confused by the statement ] What do you fight with, then?

[imgonnadie]

I don't know, hasn't come up 'til right now. [He glances back at the destroyed boat...] I've got a mean whistle.

[moonheart]

[ and she brightens even more somehow ] That was you? Are you a maenad too?

[imgonnadie]

[Sean's expression is utterly bemused, comically so.] A what?

[moonheart]

A maenad! Psionic... sea people... [ she seems to struggle with the concept of explaining a race of people, so she just rolls her eyes and turns around. ] Like this. [ and as a few pirates make their way over the edge, she opens her mouth ridiculously wide, and a piercing, high pitched scream emits. she doesn't warn anyone. luckily it's... a ray effect so it's just annoying to anyone she doesn't have it directed at. the pirates go to cover their ears and lose their grip and fall off the side, and she turns a triumphant grin over her shoulder at sean

yep. MAYBE YOU REALLY ARE A MAENAD, SEAN. THEY ALL DO THAT. ]

[Sean is going to marry this girl. He is going to marry her and they are going to have little Irish ginger babies and he will stay home with them so she can be a complete badass without trying all the time. If she wants.

He just gapes -- mouth open like his tongue is about to unfurl like a cartoon character as his eyes pop out of his skull like woo woo! After a second he picks his jaw off the deck.]

Maybe I am. [Which sort of sounds like I love you, idk. If she is a maenad, he wants to be a maenad. If she's a bird, he's a bird.]

[moonheart]

[ she looks ridiculously pleased with his response ] Well good! Cuz obviously that works too. Come on, there's not many of them left! [ and she tears away from him, raising her sword and shouting: ] To the last man!

[imgonnadie]

Or woman. [Sean adds helpfully. Gender equality, yo, Sean is down with equality and civil rights for all ya'll. And he sure does follow after her like a little lost puppy dog, though slightly slower because he... doesn't have a sword and I guess running into a sword fight unarmed, even for a girl, isn't exactly a thing he wants to do this fine day.]

[moonheart]

[ faith goes hacking into some pirates, and seems oblivious to the fact that another one is climbing up and over directly to their left... ]

[imgonnadie]

[Did the pirate not see Faith's awesomeness? Stupid pirate. Sean has... not got it covered -- he doesn't want to deafen his future probably not girlfriend, golly. Instead of screaming like a banshee (see what I did just there?), he moves forward and punches the pirate right in the face. (Attack 19)]

[moonheart]

[ faith casts a glance over her shoulder just in time to watch sean's punch land, and the pirate to lose most of his grip, suddenly swinging by one hand barely. ] Mash his fingers! [ :) ]

[imgonnadie]

Yes ma'am! [And he does so, slamming the heel of his hand down on the pirates fingers. (Attack 22)]

[nepotism]

[ with a yowl, the pirate lets go, and plummets below into the sea. there's a cry of 'fall back!' and more splashes as they start to jump off the deck, away from the volley of swords.

fred jr. stands at the top of the prow and yells: ] Let them run!

[imgonnadie]

[Now Sean is pretty okay with letting them run away, except there are a couple of problems with this plan, he thinks. A. they're in the ocean and their boat is nearly cracked in half and B. they're in the ocean and their boat is cracked in half. Which leads to the question:] Run where?

[Because if they head toward the Brightfists, Sean is pretty sure they're in for a slaughter. And he thinks slaughter is probably a bad thing. Just... possibly.]

[silvermaid]

[ it's a very tall, willowy blonde woman wielding a shortspear who answers his question - and with a spot check of 18+ sean might notice the passing resemblance to his lady love faith. ] Cut the life boats loose for them! We can't leave them to drown!

[imgonnadie]

[Sean notices nothing, and he's suddenly realizes he doesn't actually know Faith's name, so he has to wing it, holding out his hand toward her.] Hey siren, toss me your sword.

[moonheart]

I like the nickname. [ and she gives it a toss, hilt first towards him. time for a reflex save of 14+ to catch it. NOW IS A POOR TIME TO CRIT FAIL, SEAN ]
