One of the worst parts of being a vampire, Spike had found, was how bloody boring days could get. Sure, he was generally asleep for most of the morning, but even when he stayed up past dawn, he usually woke up before sunset. He couldn't venture outside without getting singed, so he had to find things to do inside.

Today, he'd found a room with a large, flat screen TV and some sort of video game player. It had taken a bit of running and dodging to make it to the window without burning up, but he'd made it. He drew the blinds closed and switched on the electric lights, then went to look at the available games.

After a bit of browsing, he selected Mario Kart and popped it into the machine. He wasn't entirely sure how to play, but he imagined he could figure it out quickly enough. It doesn't take him long to figure out the controls. (computer use check: 18) and pretty soon he's absorbed in the game. Oh yeah, the hours until sunset could pass quickly like this.

"Would you like a word of advice?" She leaned a bit closer, glancing over her shoulder. "They don't really check them all that closely. If you feel like buying yourself something nice once in awhile, or charging for room service at an unnecessarily fancy hotel? Well. No one's like to be the wiser."

[bigbad]

"Oh, is that so?" Spike grinned, raising his eyebrows. "I've always found good room service bloody vital to my missions." Not that he'd been on any yet.

[postergirl]

"Precisely." A pleased smile curves up her face. "A happy agent is a successful one, after all. And it isn't as if the company is in desperate financial straits." She gestures around at the extravagantly posh room they're hanging out in.

[bigbad]

Spike looks around as well. "Yeah, I noticed that." He picks up the wii remote, turning it over in his hands. "This game thing must have cost a bloody fortune." He doesn't know if he's ever seen anything like it, of course, but it can sense how you move it. He didn't realise video games did that.

[postergirl]

Wow, Spike, Dumage is going to make a mental note of 'easily impressed' and file that one for later. "Wait til you see the hologram technology in our downtown office."

[bigbad]

Give him a break, he's from ten years in the past. And a different universe. Which he doesn't remember. "You've got bloody holograms?"

[postergirl]

"All the top notch toys for all the good little girls and boys in the Knighthood." She smirks. "And even some for those who aren't so good."

[bigbad]

"Lucky us." He raises an eyebrow at her. "And where do you fit in?" He grins. "Can't say you strike me as overly good." It's clear from his tone and the way that he's looking at her, he means it in the best way. He feels overly good would be overly boring, really.

[postergirl]

"Oh I'm quite good at plenty of things," she remarks, not shying away from the... obvious innuendo. "Depends on what we're talking about."

[bigbad]

"Oh, I don't doubt it." He leans forward a bit, raising his eyebrows, very much interested in where this is going. "Care to give some examples?"

[postergirl]

"Now, now, a lady doesn't tell. Though maybe we could learn a little something about each other's... examples. Perhaps if you show me yours..." She lets that trail off, smirking as her eyes skid across his face. "I take it video games aren't all you do."

[bigbad]

He scoffs and tosses the controller aside. "Hardly. I only picked this one up out of boredom." He shrugs, glancing up at her again. "I like violence." That and poetry, but he thinks the violent one is more impressive.

[postergirl]

"Well, isn't that a manly response," she says, sounding s-so impressed. "What type of violence are we talking about?"

[bigbad]

He doesn't really know. He'd gotten into a few fights before meeting Dovan and going to the Knights, but he can't remember any life or death battles. The thought excites him, though. So maybe he does like them.

"The kind with my fists, mostly. Though I'll use a weapon if one's handy."

[postergirl]

"You sound like someone with a lot of aggression he needs to work out," she remarks, though she makes it sound like it's supposed to be a compliment somehow.

"I suppose that's one reason you're with us, then?"

[bigbad]

"Mm." He smirks, inclining his head a bit in confirmation. He is aggressive. He's noticed that about himself. It doesn't seem like such a bad thing for someone meant to do battle against the forces of darkness and whatnot. "Yeah. I might as well be fighting for the right things."

[postergirl]

"Oh, and we're certainly all about the 'Right and the Good' around here," she says, rolling her eyes as she rounds the couch and sits down on it, hard.

[bigbad]

He looks over at her, eyebrows raised. "I take it you don't approve?"

[postergirl]

"Of course I approve. I'm here, aren't I?" She glances over her shoulder casually in his direction. "That doesn't mean I don't think it's not a tad bit idealistic when put in practice."

[bigbad]

"I suppose." Spike doesn't sound too sure, though. He doesn't think he's much of an idealist. When he thinks of things like world peace and selfless, noble deeds, his first thought is to scoff.

Yet here he is, part of a bloody knighthood.

[postergirl]

"Wynn's more interested in all of us giving an effort to be better than we were when we showed up on his doorstep than to imagine we'll all walk out of here perfect. That whole oath nonsense - always doing right, never telling lies - it's rubbish, really. No one can do all that in the face of every situation. And he certainly isn't about to kick us out because we make a human error now and again. Keeps things interesting."

[bigbad]

"I'd hope not." Spike's already lied. Considering Wynn freaking approved his lie, he thinks he's okay. And some people know he's a vampire. Well. One person. Lan. "And it really would get dull if everyone followed that oath to the letter."

[postergirl]

That earns a grin out of her. An attitude she definitely respects. "Exactly. And whatever he says, he doesn't want an army of robots at his disposal. Not with the types he tends to draw in. There's usually something interesting in everybody's story around here." LIKE YOU, OBVIOUSLY. SPILL.

[bigbad]

WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT? SPIKE HAS NO STORY.

He's curious too, though, and doesn't want to talk about his own life. Since he doesn't know much about it. So he turns it back on her. "Oh? And what's your story, pet?"

[postergirl]

"Not much to tell, really," she says, and it's obvious, especially after her last remark about everyone's secrets, that she's being smarmy about it. "Just a girl looking to make war against evil without cessation and without mercy."

Yep, Wynn, really rolls off the tongue.
