[ Following a long night after returning from the hospital where Jade finally passed away, there remains a lot to be said and done.

As Burt struggles to deal with the legal side of things, Francesca begins to head that way across the ocean in order to help the Knights do the same, and to help Finnick leave his celebrity life behind somehow. Violet takes the full weight of responsibility for planning the funeral into her hands, and the others continue to try to cope with what's occurred, and slowly put the pieces of information that they have together.

But many of them are still reeling from the revelations of the last few days, or carrying their own emotional burdens. Des continues to keep the truth about Jade's last words to himself as he deals with losing a woman he'd come to love, and faces up to a now uncertain future, thanks to a deal struck with Iscariot. Myri worries deeply about the potential fate of Violet, who's been considering hunting down Keijen Blade on her own, and her concern causes another small rift in her relationship with Finnick. Buffy finally reaches a point of breaking down over her conflicted feelings for Rafael, as Elena assists Archer in completing a giant fireworks bomb for reasons unknown.

This log covers the events leading up to the funeral, which means it will most likely cover a day or two or three. We will use it to make threads for any and all events occurring during this time. ]

[She moves with him easily, not resisting at all as he pulls her back down with him. Her arm wraps around his torso as she takes a few calming breaths to keep her tears at bay. By the time he's done speaking, she's gotten it under control and turns up her face to him.]

If I can do anything to help, I want to. [If she had known before how uncomfortable the whole situation made him, she would have offered so long ago, but now she just wants to make up for lost time.] And nothing's changed from the other night. If you need to go, if that's the next step, then I'm going with you.

[he hadn't realized how uncomfortable he'd really been before it all came to a head, tbh. then the impact hit him like a freight train and sent him reeling. he was like a little kid who gets hurt and doesn't start crying until someone asks if they're okay.]

You're already doing more than you know. I don't exactly want to go — everyone here is like family to me. But I know that it could happen, so ... there's not really any choice but to accept it, is there?

[witchwoman]

For now, no. We'll have to sort out what's to be done to untangle you from Nova. If that means leaving and returning to the castle for the time being, then we will. Once things have settled, we can address if we can return to the group. [She pauses for a beat.] If you want to.

I do. [he sighs, thoughtful.] But I wonder how much longer we're going to be a group. The mission can't last forever. We're all bound to go our separate ways sooner or later. Probably sooner at this point.

[witchwoman]

[she frowns, knowing that he's right but not sure if she wants to think about that with everything else going on. She's been with this group from the beginning. It's the only mission Wynn ever asked her to be a part of. Somehow she was able to push the thought out of her mind, but... It would happen one day. It had to, right?]

Perhaps. [Her mind wanders to wonder if there would come a time when Wynn would send them on separate paths. This mission had taken so long, so what if the next was the same, and what if he only wished for one of them to go? She couldn't control all aspects of it and fear crept into her chest.]

But today is not that day. Tomorrow might not be either. I would rather enjoy our time together than fear the time apart.

Then let's do that. [he pulls her a little closer, nestling his head into the crook of her neck.] Maybe it's better not to think about it, anyway.

[witchwoman]

[As he leans into her, she moves as well, resting her cheek on the top of his head and letting her eyes fall closed briefly to just enjoy the closeness.]

I'm sure when it comes, it'll be all we think of. But there's no way to prepare to say goodbye.

[And given the circumstances surrounding their current situation, it's hard not to let that statement cause the mind to drift to a more permanent sort of farewell. This is a morning of too many feelings.]

[he closes his eyes, and tries half-heartedly to fight the urge to go back to sleep.] There's never enough time for any of it. We always think we'll have so much time, but there's never enough.

[witchwoman]

Promise me that we won't waste it, then. [She says quietly, almost fearful.]

Of course. I promise. [yep he's just ... slowly going back to sleep ...]

[witchwoman]

[Satisfied with that for now, she relaxes and nestles in against him, content to hold him as he drifts back off to sleep. She won't do much more than doze in and out for now, but she's in no rush to leave this bed just yet.

Eventually she'll slip away, carefully and quietly, leaving him to sleep while she goes to see what to make of her day.]
