[ Following a long night after returning from the hospital where Jade finally passed away, there remains a lot to be said and done.

As Burt struggles to deal with the legal side of things, Francesca begins to head that way across the ocean in order to help the Knights do the same, and to help Finnick leave his celebrity life behind somehow. Violet takes the full weight of responsibility for planning the funeral into her hands, and the others continue to try to cope with what's occurred, and slowly put the pieces of information that they have together.

But many of them are still reeling from the revelations of the last few days, or carrying their own emotional burdens. Des continues to keep the truth about Jade's last words to himself as he deals with losing a woman he'd come to love, and faces up to a now uncertain future, thanks to a deal struck with Iscariot. Myri worries deeply about the potential fate of Violet, who's been considering hunting down Keijen Blade on her own, and her concern causes another small rift in her relationship with Finnick. Buffy finally reaches a point of breaking down over her conflicted feelings for Rafael, as Elena assists Archer in completing a giant fireworks bomb for reasons unknown.

This log covers the events leading up to the funeral, which means it will most likely cover a day or two or three. We will use it to make threads for any and all events occurring during this time. ]

Maybe he should have... thought that through. He stares across the room, wondering if he can fast talk his way out of it and then figures Buffy will tell them the truth if he vagues it up.]

I ran into the dame that cursed me. For a certain definition of dame. No clue what she is, but Gray says she's bad trouble. The really bad, really old kind.

Some sort of ... goddess or something else?

Well, I've been reliably informed she ain't the goddess I thought she was. Something older. You got anything in the librarian head of yours on things older than gods.

Titans. Er, primordial beings of creation. [Piped up from the peanut gallery over here.] Actual mother earth and all that jazz.

[ gar glances at vi out of the corner of her eye. ] ... Certainly a possibility. Of course, dating back so far, our best clues lie among theology of ancient civilizations, many of which imply the existence of such primordial beings before the universe was even given shape, but, er, it's difficult to pinpoint which religions to put more stock in than others in this case. One religion's titans might equate to another's nephilim. Is there anything more you can tell us about her?

She could do the Gray thing. Hide herself from ... from normal people, only let the ones who she wanted to see her see her. [ there's hesitation on normal people, because she's fairly certain she just saw her because of her weird seeing demons thing, and she's voluntarily throwing off the mantle of 'normal.' ]

[Des frowns and rubs his face.] She's been around at least four thousand years, she likes making suicidal people immortal, and Gray and his buddies are pretty scared of her. Not exactly a lot to write home about. She never contacted me before now and there wasn't any Google thousands of years ago, so I don't got anything besides that. I assumed I got cursed by the gods and left it there. Until now.

[bigbad]

[Spike notices that distinction and shoots her a look and a small smile. He's proud of her for accepting her lack of normality. He's never seen it as a bad thing, but then again, he's not normal either.]

We've got Google now. Should be easier to track down whatever other information's out there about her.

Yeah, except for the part where... no one has said her name? So, are we googling a nameless older than gods thingy? 'cause that's gonna put a damper on anyone's Google Fu.

I'm guessing you didn't try asking her during your touching reunion.

I was a little occupied telling her to get out of my face, Tex. I haven't asked her for a damn thing and I'm not gonna start now.

So, we don't google. We use contacts. Des isn't the only person who's been around that long. [ beat. ] Well. Probably the only human. But, you know what I mean.

Do any of you have a whole lot of 4000 year old contacts hanging around, cuz uhh, I sure don't.

Perhaps Wynn might? Or someone else at the castle?

[Look as far as she's concerned, Wynn knows everything and everyone. He and Des were bros, so they clearly ran in some sort of circles to cross paths before...]

[Des shrugs.] Don't look at me. If I thought there was anyone out there who really knew what I was dealing with, I wouldn't be hunting things like the Talisman. I'd be with them.

[Except he totally would be hunting the Talisman, because that thing needs to die.]

So in summation: the three amigos that we know nothing about but are generally considering a-okay are willing to help us, but the risk is bringing down the hammer of the gods from Des' clingy ex that we know nothing about but are generally considering bad fucking news so it's sort of a last resort?

Yeahhh personally I vote for doing things the old fashioned way. You know, sans shady back alley deals.

Some of us don't really know the fashioned way- old or new. But I'll help in any way that I can.

I think we can all agree taking them up on their offer's a bad idea - but, this isn't the first time they've been lurking around. We'd be remiss to slack on figuring out who they are.

[ but wynn is precisely who she was thinking in terms of thousands of years old contacts, and just maybe hellsing can shed some light, too. who knows how old alucard is - certainly older than spike, judging by how much more he could do. ]

At least there are enough of us that we can afford for some of our members to devote their time to seeing what we might uncover. Buffy's right: knowledge is, after all, only going to benefit us in our encounters with them -- whomever they are.

[Yeeeeah, Des is done with this little pow-wow. He heads for the door.]

I'm gonna go make some calls, see what I can dig up.

[aka I'm gonna go tell my bros not to tell Iscariot shit and go underground. And get Liam to bury evidence for Rafael.]
