[ The castle can be a happening place, even on more mundane days. This log is for random interactions over the course of this month.  Because not everyone is into parties, ok.

[Lissa looks back over her shoulder, a hint of nervousness in her bright eyes. Her head bobs in a nod before she turns back and stands up, still cradling the bloody baby bird, now in some kind of fitful rest as it adjusted to being alive again. She turns to the man and wrenches her eyes away from the tiny creature to give him a wan, distracted smile.]

I'm okay, thank you. I think he must have been carried off by a hawk or something like that. [Her hands lift a little, in case he doesn't realize what she is talking about.]

[Glancing down at the bird in her hands, his concern moved slightly from the girl to the creature. He steps closer to the both of them, peering closer at the little bird.]

Is it okay?

I think he's okay. [Liar. The bird is a-okay. She just doesn't know how to verbalize it to anyone but Rose... who would get pissed. It's kind of hard, oh he was dead but I brought him back to life doesn't just roll off the tongue.] A vet would be good. Or... an animal shelter? But I don't know of one around here.

[uncease]

Let me see. [He doesn't know why, but he feels like he might have any sort of idea about what to do here...

Gently, he takes the bird from her hand, watching as it comes back into realization of what's going on and certainly doesn't feel much like being held. It is a free bitch, baby! David laughs a little as the bird tries to flap its wings and he tries to calm it down with moderate success (handle animal 14).]

Yeah, I think the patient may make a full recovery.

[Lissa beams, face lighting up with relief and a really sweet sort of unencumbered joy. It had been so long in her own world since she could feel the peace of healing without the haze of her medication.]

Oh thank god. I thought... [She shakes her head, turning that smile of Charming.] Thanks.

[uncease]

I didn't really do much. [But that smile of hers is catching. Meanwhile, the bird fusses in his hands enough that it makes him glance down.]

I think we might be ready for a test flight. [He steps forward and slowly opens his hands to give the bird room to stretch its wings. After a moment of hesitation, it takes off into the air as if nothing was ever wrong.]

[Her smile widens and the healing pushes her emotions directly to the surface, making tears turn her green eyes wet.]

I hope he makes it this time. [Dying twice would be horrible.]

I'm sure he'll be fine. [He watches as the bird perches on a nearby tree.] Maybe he'll stay close so you can keep an eye on him.

I hope so. [She means on both counts so she doesn't differentiate. She seems to come out of a little daze though, and turns to Charming.] Thank you. I'm Li-- [Starting to hold out a hand to shake she realizes that her hands are kind of...] Covered in blood, sorry.

[uncease]

[Charming didn't even notice until she said something (spot 8), so once she does, he looks down and laughs.]

So you are. Want some company inside so we can get you cleaned up?

David. [He offers as an afterthought.]

Sure, thanks. [She smiles sheepishly.] I'm Lissa.

[uncease]

Nice to meet you, Lissa. [He gives her a warm smile as they start to walk back towards the castle.] Have you been with the Knights long?

Not even two months, actually.

[uncease]

Well, I guess I can still pretend to be part of the welcome wagon.

You sure can, I'm still getting the hang of everything here.

That makes two of us. But maybe if we fake it together, it'll look more convincing.

Sort of like two heads are better than one? [A beat, the aftermath of spirit is making her heart pound and she finds herself babbling slightly.] Thank you. You're being so kind to me, and the bird, and I really needed that today, more than you could imagine, so... thank you, for your serendipitous good timing.

Don't mention it... Really. Everyone needs a hand every now and then. Besides, I'm pretty sure the bird was mostly you.

Well yeah, but... [But no he's right, the bird was mostly her.] Still, thank you.

Anytime. [He's not in the mood to argue about gratitude and how much each of them deserve. As they reach the doors to the castle, Charming grabs it and holds it out for her because he's the perfect gentleman, thanks.] After you.

Why thank you! [She smiles as she preceeds him inside, turning to the direction of the kitchen.] And they say chivarly is dead.

[He just grins and follows in after her.] I think maybe the whole concept of a Knighthood might bring a revival.

Chivalry, gender equality, Wynn is gonna blow some minds with his fancy ideas.

If I hadn't already joined, I'd do it after hearing that pitch.
