[ The castle can be a happening place, even on more mundane days. This log is for random interactions over the course of this month.  Because not everyone is into parties, ok.

You know, I'm pretty sure they don't want us damaging the equipment.

[ it's a little late to make mention of it, of course, because those blades have done some terrible things to the dummy by the time attica comes around. she scrutinizes riddick some, slinking in the back door without making a sound (move silently 28). ]

There are a hundred people in this castle, why beat up on the thing that can't fight back?

[He may not have heard her, but there was a reason Riddick was near to impossible to take by surprise. Even through the smells of the gym, he caught the distinct aroma of a woman coming near, though it was hard to say from which direction what with all the fans blowing on the ceiling. He pauses when she speaks, turning slowly to look at her, a small grin on his lips.]

Cuz so far I haven't found anyone who likes me swinging my blades at them. Kinda puts their backs up.

[ with a wisdom check of 9, she's going to draw some misconceptions based on those goggles of his, so she just raises an eyebrow. ]

Why's that? The blind thing?

[ she comes to that conclusion because most people who wear tinted eyewear indoors are trying to indicate their blindness or hide the appearance of it in their eyes. ]

[That gets a rumbling chuckle from him as he snaps his blades closed, tucking them into the band of his pants.]

Close. But not close enough. [He takes a few steps closer, raising his goggles from his eyes slowly. His lids are closed as he takes the goggles off, and with a few squinting blinks they open completely. The overhead fluorescent lights catch his eyes. They shine silver, the unnatural glow in them changing as his eyes move like the eyes of an animal caught in the light.]

I'm not completely blind.

[ attica doesn't flinch or even blink twice at the glow of his eyes; true, it's not something she's seen before, well, not that specific kind, but since her own eyes are bright red even where the whites are supposed to be, she's not really one to talk - hell, other tieflings have entirely silver eyes. she's not one for judging or getting put off by appearance. ]

What's the goggles for then? Worried about the looks you'll get? [ wis 5 yep she has less of an idea than when she started guessing. but that would be something she could understand; she stopped caring a long freaking time ago about the looks she gets and the suspicion, but not everyone's the same way. ]

[Riddick doesn't notice that her eyes are all red, perhaps because he only sees in shades of glowing white, black, purple and blue with some shades of red, depending on what kind of reflective surface he is looking at. He smirks at her persistence, impressed at her lack of fear of him.]

They're for keeping the light from my eyes. [As he speaks he re-adjusts said goggles, fitting them back over his eyes.] I don't do well with bright lights. Give me darkness any day.

You human? [ she doesn't dodge the question - drow and tieflings both have their share of dark vision, and attica herself falls into both categories, so it's something she's familiar with. most of her life has been spent in the dark, rooting around in someone else's empty house. ]

Not too sure many people would classify me as such. Yeah, I'm human, least the last time I checked. [Something about her line of questioning nags at him, prompting his next question.]

Drow.

[ since it's a fair bet his light-blindness makes it hard to differentiate the pitch black skin of drow from the dark skin humans can have, she doesn't particularly mind throwing it out there. or, at least, part of the story. but she does take care to watch his reaction to the identification (sense motive 26). ]

[He'd been in this world long enough to recognize the word, that she wasn't human like she'd said, but aside from that it meant nothing to him. Her being a Drow was like saying she was Chinese.]

Right. Well, whatever that makes you exactly... I'm curious, what does that make you exactly?

Depends who you ask. Most people aren't our biggest fans. Honestly, I'm not our biggest fans. I tend to stay out of Drow matters.
